Even with all that said, Kiznaiver is fucking unpleasant. It's like the anime equivalent of that gross feeling in your mouth when you haven't been able to brush your teeth in a long while. Visually it's absolutely stunning, and the concept is a versatile one that could be taken in a number of interesting directions, but something about the way it all comes together is uniquely and utterly repellent. It's like this massive unholy union between Imaishi's masturbatory directing style and Okada loving to hear herself talk. It's just a fucking offputting show.

I can understand people shipping SoyGoddess, but it's pretty obvious what he was trying to say in that scene. He wouldn't have stayed if she left because she was the only other reliable adult willing to care for the others.

With both of them there, they can split duties in taking care of everybody and thereby lead a less stressful life. It's not worth staying if nobody else is there to help keep things under control.

Kill la Kill had some wobbling around the whole brainwashing thing, but the ending was just stereotypical shonen escalation. Code Geass had moments of insanity, but also reached a stable stop which was worth it. With Valvrave and Guilty Crown they both had very enraging conclusions that nobody cared for and Cross Ange was a total WTF.

Think of it this way: Lion made a surprisingly healthy decision by putting herself first. I'm sure she really wanted to leave so she could stay with Nanko, but it wasn't worth forcing herself to face something she's not ready to deal with yet.

I don't understand a lot of what was happening in the show because I didn't fully pay attention but what happened in the end was pretty fucking simple. The ones who accepted their nanaki/themselves were able to leave the village hence why the people disappeared and showed up on the bus back home. The reason why the monsters/nanaki were attacking or scaring the people throughout the show was because the monsters didn't want the people to leave the village and didn't want to be left alone since they were apart of the people. Some members of the group didn't want to go back to their old life and decided to stay because they believed that striving for a new life and abandoning their old one isn't a bad thing. Well that's what I got from the ending. I stopped trying to understand the show just after the monsters showed up.

I actually was considering this a fairly coherent trainwreck relatively speaking, until a few episodes ago when people started leaving the village and the relatively solid, orderly shit this series was turned to wet diarrhea spraying all over the place. The last three or four episodes felt like the plot equivalent of having a stroke and shitting your old person diaper. However, I actually liked the ending itself, as it did the best job of spraying the mess left over into the drain that could be done, and left me with an actual good, optimistic feeling that I appreciated regardless of how objectively bad what got it to that point was.
