Are we talking about episode 6? She was working in concert with Hayate at the time, the same as she had been for the whole battle. She fell behind because he managed to use jumping off an asteroid to turn around faster (imitating Messer.) When she arrived at the Aether Hayate was already rushing off in pursuit of Bogue and she wast attacked lost a thruster as she was about to change headings and follow to keep backing him up, which lead to her getting tag teamed. She wasn't the one who rushed out ahead of her backup.

Did you even read my post? There was no indication Mirage broke formation prematurely. In fact she stayed in formation until they had in contact with the Aerial Knights which is the correct procedure when engaging enemy fighters. Also Delta Platoon pilots don't have any designated wingman and look out for each other.

The problem with Hayate's and Mirage's relationship is that is boring to watch them. The only fun episode they had was their flight lesson, after that Mirage's character became dry and dull. There's no grand story here. No bickering for episodes to show some 'hate-love', no rivals turned allies turned lovers, nothing actually stands out about their bonds. It's like saying Hayate will hook up with Chuck because they tried to defeat the mercat together. Because unlike Frontier, Macross Delta isn't focused on the triangle, it's focused on two things: the plot and the teams. The teams are Delta Squadron, Walkure as Tactical Unit (chaos as whole, but those two are the most important) and the Wind Knights. They dedicate screentime to each side. Keith gets more focus on his side, Freyja on hers and Hayate of his, that's why Mirage is left with scraps unless it's a wacky comedy "triangle" scene. For a balanced triangle, it should have been a Delta pilot, an Aerial Knight and an Idol. That's why threads ago, I said the story would have been better if Keith had been female and Messer the main character with the love triangle involving each other and Kaname.

I love Freyja and Mikumo as dual aces. Mikumo was hard on Freyja because she wanted her to shine at her full potential, something which Freyja understood and tried to overcome and show Mikumo that she belonged on the stage next to her.

Freyja finally overcame that and now they are cool and share the spotlight together. Idols in other series would be bitches, and feel threatened but Mikumo welcomes Freyja and they have a cute friendly rivalry.

It's clear Freyja idolizes Mikumo, and Mikumo adores Freyja
