While they're checking out Tokyo they run into a monster(Fat Snake) trying to get his novel manuscript in to a publisher on a sunday. New enemies are the Spotwriteers(took me half the volume to get what it was supposed to be) which are based on writers. First monster was one who was trying to destroy printing presses so he doesn't have to meet his deadline.

The new girl shows up too aiming for the same thing. Narration mentions never to do this since no one works sundays and coming with a manuscript without an appointment bothers people.

Hina's UMA love gets the better of her and she asks for an autograph from the snake since he looks like a Tsuchinoko. Umachan goes ballistic since it'll cause a headache for editing later since it reminds the viewers that their trump card is always around.

New girl is Manami. She's an aspiring highschool girl writer and who aims to be famous at a young age. Extremely high self-esteem well beyond narcissism and is devious enough to use her looks as leverage to get her debut. Her writing gets Haruka and Umachan spastic since it reads like the most ridiculous self-insert fanfiction you can think of. She's the main character of it and has outlines laid out for several series. Hina actually likes the manuscript she brought but even she's turned off by the Manami's profound narcissism. Umachan decides to give her a shot at being their writer to spice up their show even with his misgivings about her manuscript.

There was an interesting insight thrown in. You can make a story work when either the setting or the characters are outrageous but not both at the same time. One has to be familiar for the outrageousness to work and that Manami's outrageous out the wazoo on both ends.

Yup. Vol 1 is definitely a fun read. Vol 2 dips a bit trying to fit plot in but the SoL bits and toku insights and merchandising jokes are pretty amusing. It lacks a good climax like vol 1 did but they set up enough things to look forward to.

Since they're going up against a writer priding himself on planning things out in advance, they get Manami in on the battle strategy. Her grand idea is to make a mess of things by lewding it up.
