Not the 2003 adaptation. It was about proving that there is no such thing as equal exchange. No such thing as an absolute law. It was about loss and losing faith in a guiding principal.
That's why when Ed sacrificed all the time he spent bonding and growing with Al to bring him back, Al appeared as a 7 year old who didn't remember Ed.

2003's message was not the same as Brotherhood.
