The original oneshot was the best part, the manga was pretty mediocre and dragged the story out forever just so the author could make mad dosh.

I read the one-shot when it first came out and wasn't impressed by it at all. Didn't read the manga. I thought the premise was retarded. A deaf person being placed in a classroom full of normals and being bullied because of it is retarded.

Glad it's not a series and just a movie. If it was a series, it would cause a LOT of problems with normies misunderstanding the point of the story that even the author had to shove into our faces so the white knights wouldn't lose their shit about it. Less people are going to end up seeing it so I don't care.

I'm glad it is getting animated though, it was a great story with a good meaning behind it. And the animation for it should be good, but god damn is it gonna be awkward to hear a deaf japanese accent.

It does upset me slightly that the movie probably will cut out a chunk of really important parts of the story. Seeing MC's redemption play out and seeing what becomes of the side characters is pretty important. Maybe they'll cut out some of the stupid shit that was in there, like Ueno. That could probably make up for anything they do to the story.

It went on way too long, if they end it with shouko killing herself it would be good

Nishimiya was a blatant Mary Sue.

Doesn't hate anyone, not even her bullies. Just hates herself. And her deafness just makes her more endearing to readers. Mangaka created far more interesting characters in Ueno and Mashiba but instead of developing them further, she just pandered to the readers who wanted a generic feel-good ending.
