I never saw this fight animated, is it worth watching? Based off the manga my favorite Arrancar fight was Nnoitra vs Zaraki. Too many times the fights turned into explanations of convoluted abilites, I like that Nnoitra and Zaraki generally lack complicated abilities and just hack at each other.

I even remember thinking that Nnoitra released form was underwhelming until the fight actually got underway, at which point I realized its pretty awesome because unlike so many abilities and released forms in Bleach it lends itself to a good ole fashion hack and slash fight.

I think that's closer to what Kubo intended. Yoruichi being a cat is meant to reflect her personality. Like Urahra said, she's fickle and only shows her affections on her terms.

The only reason why Yhwach hasn't been attacking Orihime is in respect of her resolve to come with Ichigo despite being so vastly outclassed. He even asked Ichigo why he brought her along, knowing that doing so would put her in great danger. Orihime avoids being a liability because Yhwach unexpectedly has the grace to not attack the healer.

I think everything 4 and lower was implied to be a Vasto Lorde. The problem is, as you said, Kubo totally dropped it. It was introduced as such a giant plot device, and then he didn't even take the courtesy to have someone observe, "Oh we're fighting Vasto Lordes."

Of course, at the beginning of the arc, I think he wrote the Arrancars out to be stronger than they were. The original Arrancars who invaded Karakuri the first time and fought Hitsugaya's squad were introduced as being only Menos, which was scary because those were the weakest Hollows out there yet their Arrancar forms were so strong. Later though we find out that they're the level above Menos. Essentially Kubo backpedaled on making the Arrancars strong and nerfed them so the captains could have their field day. Which resulted in fifty chapters of Aizen murdering everybody, which is a far weaker plot device, in my opinion, than him having a carefully instrumented army take out SS.

Originally Quincies were made out to be humans with powers but developments in this arc very much make it seem like they're a separate kind of soul entirely, but how and why that is isn't clear at all.

Though I've heard the theory that Nnoitra and Tesla were rescued by Unohana, who healed the two alongside Grimmjow. This is the reason for why Grimmjow still has the scars from Nnoitra and how Unohana knew about Nnoitra's fight with Kenpachi and that he almost lost. Also when Orihime arrived in the Negar ruins, there were two Arrancar and she was surprised to see more than one. I never really understood why calling things "edgy", or even acting like things that really were edgy were somehow wrong or badly designed, became so common. Because Urahara cleary couldn't give the wristband during the Quilge fight. He had to actually create it first. Urahara didn't meet up with the others since then. And by the time he had given Nel the wristband, he would have given her and the other their new clothes. When Orihime was in the ruins, they all had their old clothes, so Urahara didn't give them yet.

-were never really all that important or interesting (Mayuri's zombie squad)

-died very recently or very anticlimactically (Kensei and Rose, arguably Byakuya)

- have been long dead (such as Yamamoto's skeleton army or perhaps some ancient creature)

I really don't think he'd bring back Nnoitra, Ulq, or Starrk- they died in ways that spot-on in terms of eliciting pity in the reader. I guarantee you they'd only come back as some sort of mindless apparition if he wants to serve the fans like that.

Each Espada died in a fashion that mirrored their particular aspect of death (e.g. Zommari's "Aizen-sama kanpai", or Ulquiorra's crumbling into dust, or Starrk's dying alone and Barragan's dying of old age [in a way]).

okay. I do agree that ulquiorra's final form wasn't designed very well. it looked like a devianart poster trying to make something look cool, but also look like a yaoi character. I personally came to like it, maybe i just got used to it, but i tend to like designs that look awkward or out of place.
