Except for the part where having power within the system allowed him to do the decent thing when the opportunity allowed him. Suzaku isn't perfect, but he really isn't any more flawed than Lelouch. They both fuck up and mentally implode pretty hard.

But Suzaku was just a fantastic warrior, not a fantastic thinker. He couldn't do what Lelouch could himself.

If Euphemia hadn't died, most of Suzaku's goals would've been realized without a bump in the road, but he bound himself up in her so tightly that when she was removed from the picture violently, he started deteriorating hard. The fact that he was still able to draw back and recognize when he was deteriorating and act according to what he thought Euphemia's wishes would be is pretty impressive.

Should I watch Touch if I've already watched and loved Cross Game? I've been looking for something to fill the gap but everything I watched after it didn't quite cut it for me (Toradora, Golden Time, Kokoro Connect, AnoHana). You can at least give it a try but Touch is a long show, chances are you will not make it through. Probably took me over two years to finish it, watching a couple of episodes every now and then. Of course, like most long shows it picks up towards the end but getting there could be slow.

Then again, H2 has been taking me even longer despite being shorter, but that show is not nearly as good as Touch and Cross Game.

out of all the big shounen shows, luffy is arguably the best protagonist. One piece has its massive issues, but at it has its moments where it does indeed shine.

I never liked naruto because his naivete seems groundless, and he lacks a real motivation to be hokage. This makes his actions seem pointless and unwarranted, which in turn makes it hard to except his personality.


From a very young age, we see luffy desiring to be a pirate. Young children dream big, and one of his role models is a pirate that the entire town luffy was in appreciated. This gives the audience some understanding of why luffy wants to be the king of pirates, and makes his actions appear justified in the eyes of the viewer.

However, Naruto was treated like trash and liked by almost no one, yet wanted to be the appreciated leader of the leaf village. fucking why though?

There is no reason for him to strive so hard to earn the appreciation and acceptance. Even though his dream was also born when he was a young child, he's treated poorly for being a vessel for the nine tails. It's something that he can't really help, and he is constantly rebuked for it. A child would most likely becoming emotionally mute and possibly hold a grudge against the town. A simple lack of connection between "being treated like shit for something he couldn't help when he was a toddler" and "wanting everyone's appreciation and love" exists, which is why naruto is fucking trash as a character.

From what I read in the manga past, she mellows out way more than her anime counterpart but never really does anything sympathetic or becomes 'likeable'.

Complicating this is that most of the cast are a morally mixed bag. They give themes of friendship and courage in such a child-like manner, but they usually act like cold-hearted dicks when they need to get serious and don't seem to have any problem with death or murder, ect. It's like cutsy shonen child characters dropped into a seinen manga.

Sherry brings this to a head, her obsession with Koko makes no sense and I don't know who she's supposed to be. A yandere? A damsel? She doesn't seem to see Koko in very high regard anyway, and has no problem fighting her, brainwashing her and lying to her when it's convenient to brush her aside. Their whole relationship and her motives make Sherry infuriating to me.
