The thing that really rams it home is when she's killed. There's a moment of anger, but then the mercy of it kinda creeps up on you and you're left without catharsis: Everyone fucked up, no one responsible was effectively punished, no one with agency had a chance to save her and there was literally nothing left but to give her peace. She wasn't even old enough to understand her condition; just shouldering the pain and fog in an vain attempt to continue her life.
