I'm kind of torn. Flowers had potential, but it wasn't actually all that interesting. And I'm worried it might have fucked up the original's ending and Hao's victory.

Shaman King's ending was pretty fantastic, though it would've been perfect if it had been a bit longer and more detailed.

Though it never even remotely implied the other Shaman Kings still existed on some level or had any remaining power and authority.

Well in Flowers it turns out that the previous 7 Shaman Kings are still around, and enough of them had complaints about how Hao was running things, so they're holding another tournament to sort this out, each team representing one of the kings.

Shamans link the dead with the living, exceptionally powerful ones can even resurrect the dead.
There's literally no point in fighting when everyone is in a team with at least someone that can resurrect people, this is why towards the middle point of the manga most of the "fights" consist in Yoh turning people to his philosophy.
I feel like they were constantly forcing to turn this into a battle manga when considering the setting it was kinda dumb.
