I was slowly starting to get interested in Mumei and the MC and just enjoyed their scenes together. Things like her starting to appreciate him, etc. was really nice to watch.
Now there is this stupid boring as fuck uninteresting villain, the drama that I don't care about, the mystery that I don't care about and everything I liked about this show is seemingly gone.
The people don't communicate like normal people in any way so drama related scenes like the confrontation between Mumei and the MC, or the MC and the villain brother are incredibly frustrating to watch.
Though maybe it's just me and I've become too jaded. I didn't expect much from this show but it was slowly starting to get fun and now it's become 'serious'. I liked it when it was fun but now it feels like I get nothing from watching it.

Drama itself isn't a bad thing, but it has to be handled correctly, which this show doesn't.
The most obvious example would be the whole

First, her brother acts really suspicious. Mumei seems to know that he isn't exactly a good person, but does what he says anyway because of all the muh weak versus strong stuff.
Second, why not have a talk about it? It's not that it needs to be resolved immediately, but at least build it up in a better, less rushed way that makes it not seem like everyone is too busy to give a shit about literally everyone else. The people in this series don't talk about shit. I was impressed that Ikoma actually mentioned to his friend that Mumei was probably made into a Kabaneri instead of bitten, but unfortunately talking to him was a less important plot point.
You just know that most of the drama only happens because they don't say what needs to be said, which happens only to keep the plot going and have drama to deal with.

Both known Kabaneris saved their asses multiple times and before Ikoma went berserk for the very first time, which wasn't even in public, they had literally no reason to assume otherwise. Sure, they may still distrust them, but they were literally trying to kill them, etc. Disbelief is fine, but there is a line which they definitely overstepped, even if you assume everyone there is a complete fear driven retard.

Ask someone like that other main girl since she seems trusting in private and explain the situation to her.
Of course there are other options as well, but I'd say that one would probably be effective and simple.
