The shotgun would ignite, and Yuto would scream, but Shun Kurosaki would only lay on the floor and look at the ruined Heartland Tower, the light going out of his eyes before he could find the right words.

The card combos and interactions introduced by the Entermates and the Magicians evolved the game to a whole new level. His past duels were lackluster because the writers have gone into full shilling mode for the few last episodes, but it'll soon be over and we'll get to witness duels as intense as Yuya vs Reiji 2.

There's nothing wrong with that. The point of entame dueling, in case you missed it, is to entertain the audience. Making a comeback while being on the verge of losing is a great way to do that.

If you count the monster ratios of most PePe decks, Performapals were a bit more prominent with 3 Monkeyboards, 3 Jokers, 3 Sorcerers, 2 Lizardraws, and 1 Guiturtle against 1/2 Trick Clowns, 2 Hat Trickers, 3 Damage Jugglers and 3 Plushfires.

Yes, Plushfire was one of the most ridiculous cards ever since it had absolutely no restrictions, but the Performapal engine is really good, too. Skullcrobat, Monkeyboard and Sorcerer are easy plusses, and the Lizardraw/Guiturtle engine thins the deck of Performapals, giving you a higher chance to draw into Solemns.

And have you seen the plot? There's a reason why "Everybody hates Yuya"is an accurate foretelling as to how the plot treats him. He has more "failures" than he has successions and even when he succeeds, things end up going to shit within a span of 1-3 episodes cause pendulum theory.

Him trying to weasel knowledge out of Edo was not a bad move on his part considering his dad been gone for 3 years and this is the first clue in ever that he found. Any one who actually gives a fuck about their parents or special someone would strive to at least multi-task and get some indication from them.

If Yuya truly didn't give a shit about Academia or the state of Heartland, he would have canceled the duel and gone with Edo or focus his entire attention to finding him again rather than helping Shun & co or continuing to try and preach his ideals and stop the senseless carding between the two forces. We both know that's not true. He did everything he could in order to save Synchro, and he will do the same to save Xyz. As a Lancer, he realizes that his role is to save the people from the other dimensions, and he isn't happy about having to do it as he showed when he protested Reiji's idea of dimensional soldiers at the end of Standard.

Judai had his friends all killed and killed his teacher
Yusei had friends die like Bruno
Yuma had nearly every single one of his friends die by the end of Zexal and had to fight his best friend to decide their fates and this is after having Astral ripped from him. Yuya hasn't been through shit yet.

That aside, having thought a little about it, I think a more convincing way to show that there had been progression in the Lancers' and Yuya's capabilities is to show them calming down the rebellion first off, and then having a duel with Jack after things were calm in the city to cinch that the Lancers are worthy. Rather than the Jack vs Yuya duel being the main factor that calms the city down for some nebulous reason, just for the sake of adding stakes or something like that to the duel. The way Shinji was shown all angry and then fist pumping for Yuya with barely a moment in between was laughable.

Considering that we only see Atem use them, they're basically one of the same. You have to remember that the original Yugioh was different from its spin off that push the whole "a single copy of a card in its existence" stick to the degree that it is now. It was playing for a sense of realism with their super special rare cards. The only card canonally that was true to its word were Pegasus's toon cards and the God Cards for obvious reasons.

Bullcrap, the entire structure of Yusei obtaining his Accel Synchro was a mess. You can't really call it an arc when it got ignored for 80% of the run time for the Pre-WRGP and only barely remembered when the WRGP officially started. I hate being a broken record but nearly all of the Protags go through such a transition, only Zexal and Arc-V cranked it up further with even less build up.
