It's somewhat different. For example, in the anime there were 53 cards (counting the 2nd movie), whereas in the manga there were only 19 cards.

In the anime Syaoran got some cards, whilst in the manga he didn't get any (and thus didn't even participate in the judgment).

In the manga Rika and the teacher actually become a thing, same with Eriol and Kaho.

There's no Meiling or Wei in the manga.

Syaoran falls for Sakura a lot earlier - before she fully collected the cards, if I remember well.

The order and way in which Sakura collected the cards is different, same with the order in which she turned them from Clow Cards to Sakura Cards (with some exceptions).

Whilst anime Sakura was fairly competent, manga Sakura was even more so, in my opinion.

Whilst TRC became a massive clusterfuck, XXX-HOLIC was decent and Kobato was great.

I said the same thing before Tsubasa came out. Then everyone had a unique voice because CLAMP considered them different characters.

In reality, it was because BeeTrain was doing the show instead of Madhouse and couldn't secure all the seiyuu. Which could also happen to the new show. Like how Sailor Moon Crystal changed a lot of the voices.

At the end of the series eriol actully mentioned that she had such a sharp insight that she came close finding out his identity and that it was worth about as much as any magic. Tomoyo may have some latent psychic powers since ahe wanted to make costumes for sakura before she atarted colecting cards and even had many made up before the shadow card episode. I dunno. Based on what we see of Eriol, Clow was a very strange and whimsical man. Considering he was the most powerful magician in the world, he really had no reason to create the Clow Cards in the first place. Why bother creating a card that commands fire when you can probably raze entire worlds? We see several powerful magicians across CLAMP's universe, and supposedly, prior to Sakura, Clow dwarfed them all. The Clow Cards are completely pointless. They serve no real purpose, there's no real reason for them to exist beyond Clow's whim.

So why not create some pointless and superfluous cards? Considering Clow literally created the Clow Cards just because he could, there's no reason not to create pointless shit like the Bubble.

For Tomoyo-Sakura to be canon, unless Clamp shits the bed, there needs to be significant development which could probably take multiple episodes. You have to break up Syaoran/Sakura. You have to make it so that Tomoyo is actually okay with the break up as, as you probably remember, she is a supporter of it. There's also Touya. After that, Sakura will have to actually understand her feelings towards Tomoyo is more than just friendship, which could take long, considering, you know, it takes her about 66 episodes to understand her actual feelings re:Yukito. Clamp's pretty open to all sorts of relationship, so the lesbian part would probably go over just fine.

That's just a pretty significant chunk of time spent on making Sakura/Tomoyo feasible.

They ARE related. Fei Wong was related to Clow Reed. Watanuki was created to replace the lost Syaoran. He's basically a "replacement" Syaoran, so he's also technically a descendant of Clow.

This is a transitional year, 2017 could be a GOAT year for anime with tons of originals and sequels.

Fall could make a great start for the transitional year ahead. The only thing I'm worried about this sequel will they reprise the main roles only for Sakura, Tomoyo and Kerebos. I know made this comment again and again.
