This fight is really overrated. Fuck that "MC, get in the super robot we had since the beginning and wrek the aliens by screaming although it shouldn't have an impact on your fight" thing. It's TTGL in a supposedly realistic world and without the spiral energy to explain it.

Everything Gainax has done has been some kind of shoutout to something, even way back then. In Gunbuster's case it was like a fusion of Aim for the Ace and Getter Robo, you can't say the fight is bad just because it isn't realistic enough for you.
