It's pretty much a different show altogether. Completely different to Barakamon in tone, humor, setting, and so on. It's not a worse or better version of Barakamon.

It'd need to have an absolutely amazing ending for that to happen. So far it's been fun but sorta predictable and simplistic, how fucking likeable the protag happens to be is the biggest positive factor it has going for it at the moment.

Pretty much Sweetness and Lightning and Handa-kun are gonna be my favorite anime adaptions next season.
