Guts himself counts as an archer with his autocrossbow... but that's at very short range and it's more like a shotgun than the English longbowman Irvine is trying to be.
Serpico's feather sword can do a sword wind attack, but that's pretty short-ranged too.

Griffith is literally Lucifer, a fallen angel who had selfish reasons to go against his brethren.
Its especially apparent due to him looking much more angelic after his resurrection. I mean, compare Griffith now to Griffith during the Golden Age arc.

>>142148728
He isn't a Lucifer because there is no real God. Lucifer's main theme is his betrayal of God. Griffith/Femto is literally the will of Berserk God.
>>142148818
>>142148862
Maybe I shouldn't have said "literally", but their stories are similar, especially since Lucifer means "Bearer of Light" and Griffith often exudes light.

>>142149158
>>142149124
Baby Casca is cute. She's goddamn pitiful to watch, but still cute.
>>142148925
Indeed, but Miura is a Japanese man who loves Devil Man, a manga where God is the main villain. I doubt he thinks like a Christian.
>>142149181
>>142149166
The IoE basically told Griffith to "do what you want".
Little did Griffith know that IoE meant "want what I want."
>>142149214
>>142149243
It also said that what I want is what you want.
>>142149255
>>142149166
>I feel like the IoE is gonna fuck Griffith over, revealing that he's been using him as a puppet this whole time, breaking Griffith yet again.
But the IoE doesn't have a "will" in the traditional sense. IoE is the combined will and consciousness of humanity.
Griffith is the manifestation of this will, therefore what Griffith wants is what the IoE wants and what the IoE wants is what Griffth wants.
I don't see why IoE would fuck over Griffith.
>>142149243
It's the same thing.
>>142149289
Heh, but it could be the other way around too. After all, it's been shaping fate and destiny to bring Griffith to him.
>>142149307
I always thought the IoE represented humanity's need for someone to blame for the universe being a shitty place. It's thus a god of evil, because letting there actually be a god of evil is somehow more sensible than nothing.
It's like how Rorschach breaks the psychiatrist in Watchmen; he tells him that there is NOTHING in the universe except basic human dickery.
>>142149307
Because whenever Griffith is having a good time, something happens to fuck it up. Its like how Guts has awful shit happen to him all the time, but good things come to him in the end.
Something is gonna happen to ruin Griffiths plans, and if not the IoE fucking him over for some reason, then it'll be another God Hand.

So right now I'm thinking
Ai-Ren

>>142149397

IoE basically creates fate (or causality) so people can think their suffering isn't meaningless.
I don't think people are aware of its existence.
>>142149460
>>142149495
>>142149482

Griffith just something rubs me totally wrong seeing him acting nicely and all.
There is a big difference in how human griffith and apostle femto act.
Also he is hiding something big, especially those damn crystals he has around his kingdom and none of the human inhabitants really know what they are expect for keeping monsters out
>>142148198
Are those really souls or merely illusions or maybe he controls them rather......
>>142149735
Everything merges with the idea of evil regardless.
>>142149776
>>142149850
Its all mainly an act. The way he acts as Femto is what he really is. The only good quality he has at the moment is that he feels some sort of bond with Casca and Guts, and that's probably because of his body being made from their kid.

>>142150094
Maybe Griffith's obsession with Guts is even worse, now he only wants to see Guts despair and for that not only has Guts to fight the benign ruler of the kingdom and tons of soldiers who try to protect him but also after he finally 'killed' Griffith, everyone across the world hunts him.
While Griffith will just pretend to be dead and only appear to his apostles as femto for the time. Finally he will activate his spell or whatever and take his whole kingdom to do whatever kinda like in FMA.

>>142150381
Doesn't someone talk about the idea of evil after that? I think it was before the city was attacked by the Kushan, so probably around chapter 28 or something like that.
>>142150542
Why did Griffith try to have Rickert killed? It was pointless. Sure Rickert refused and slapped him in front of everyone, but he's hardly going to go on a vengeful crusade like Guts and seems happy to let everyone live in their fantasy world in Falconia. He was a fringe threat at best, but is a bigger threat now that he's teamed up with Kushan remnants. Seems like Griffith letting emotion get the better of him again, and we all know how it turned out the last time.
>>142150640

The thing with Griffith is that he is obsessed with Guts in what way who knows maybe he really wanted to see Guts as his friend, rival or equal but he denies it, there cant be such a person or something in his mind.
Now we have Griffith after his rebirth telling Guts that he no longer has any interest him but then when Guts begins to fight Zodd, he again has that look in his eyes as he watches Guts.

There are couple things, philosophically and religiously that you (and common belief held) are mistaken about.
1. Lucifer did not exist. At the very least, he did not exist as a divine being, did not exist before mankind, does not rule Hell. The closest you can say of Lucifer is a corruption of Canaanite mythology of the god Ba'al where "the morning star" Attar tried to rule as Ba'al did but wasn't able, so he gave up and tried to rule the underworld. The idea that Lucifer is "Satan" is based solely on the translation errors and inconsistencies in the King James version of biblical texts, and even then are extremely vague to non-existent implications and inferences between the entirety of books and only in small single verse lines. The closest biblical account you can ascribe to Lucifer and his host of angels being cast down from heaven for trying to usurp God is a few lines in Enoch that talk about a group names as "sons of God" (in difference to "sons of Man") led by Semjaza began to plan to rape the "daughters of Man" they saw, made a pact to do it, did it, and God "cast them down." It's likely they were pious men from mountains who slept with pagans.
2. The depiction of angels, beautiful men in white with bird wings and a halo, in popular culture is based on a few accounts of heavenly servants, called malak who were simply messengers (literally, malak means messenger). All early accounts of the malak are simple and merely herald God's word. In some prophetic visions, however, these malak where nearly beyond comprehension; some like flaming nested wheels with spokes that moved unnaturally, some like multiheaded chimeras that covered their faces and feet with a separate pair of wings each and flew with yet another pair. As time progressed, people softened the imagery of what the malak were, naming them angels and giving them hierarchy. Some religious texts even gave names to angels but only 3 specifically: Michael, Gabriel and some would claim Urien.

Zodd respects the Skull Knight more and doesn't join up with him ever. They just fight. Because Zodd just wants to fight. As for him respecting Griffith, he HAS to. He is so compelled by his own Apostle nature that he will forsake all his pride to serve him. Only the weird masked apostel, Raksas, seems to want to kill Griffith and we don't know why. The closest you'd be to correct would be when Guts was, like, 5-years-old and even then wasn't "gangly." Gambino worked him as hard as he possibly could. Guts was tough. Tough enough to kill the dude who raped him in battle the next day. As for biting off more than he could chew, that literally has only happened against apostles and the Hand of God, and EVEN THEN that only applies to Zodd and Griffith: he defeated every single other apostle he's come across and with the help of Skull Knight has evaded everything the Hand of God have exposed him to.

True, Guts will never answer her love, but it would be outright stupid for her to fall in love with Isidro. It's not like there even needs to be a pairing, maybe she'll follow Flora's path and spend her time researching magic and teaching a kid every now and then. I really wanted to see more of her by the way, it sucked that she "died" so soon.

If people are worried about spoiling Berserk, in a Berserk thread on /a/ then they're being ridiculous. It started in 1999. The last chapter was released in December. This is, AT BEST, a monthly manga and that was very early on. From 2012 to 2014, there was a 67 week break. NO chapters came out in 2013. This was followed by a 5, 11, 7 and then 43 week long break. Only six chapters came out last year, all because Miura got motivated and did one a month from July-December. He's stopped again and it's been 36 weeks and counting.
There's nothing to spoil about Berserk. No new chapter is out and it's been going on a long time.

Big fan of sex...with Casca. He does hate human contact in general otherwise, yes. So, when Casca, the only woman he can enjoy physical contact with is naked in front of him and vulnerable and he's beat, he went kinda nuts. This might surprise you but taking a fucking rocket in the face is actually the number one cause of Apostle death in the series.
And Rakshas' could easily kill Silat, Rickert and Daiba but Silat and Rickert actually planned ahead and Daiba still just saved their asses because he's the shit. One of the few people that fought and survived Guts with the Berserker armor.

Are you implying Guts didn't get his ass handed to him on a regular basis?
And besides, my point isn't that Guts was weak, because we all know that he isn't and that the story is fundamentally about him being stronger than strong.
My point is that it's stupid to compare a child to a full grown man, who also happens to be just about the manliest man who has ever lived. Shierke would have felt exactly the same way about Guts as she does about Isidro if they had met when he was young, because even if the "power-levels" aren't comparable, Isidro and young Guts are very similar personality wise.

Yes, because it wouldn't make sense. What would make sense is seeing their relationship change as they grew up and matured together and blossomed into actual romance, because that's something that happens a lot in fiction and real life. Boys and girls are often antagonistic to each other when they're young.
But hermit Schierke would be dope and subversive, and personally I like the idea better now that you mention it, even if I doubt it'll play out that way.

There hasn't really been any actual chemistry so far, as I said it's at best respect. Maybe that will change in the future, we don't know but I kinda doubt it. No, I'm taking issue with this point. Guts and Isidro are very different. First of all in the fact that guts, even at Isidro's age, was a competent and powerful fighter wielding a large weapon and killing in combat and was already a boy of large stature. Additionally, they are NOT alike in personality, especially by that age, because Isidro wants fame, fortune, and girls while he showboats, is boisterous, craves attention and is generally a goofball. Guts is none of those things. He almost literally lives to kill and nothing more. To put it simply, Isidro is bright and warm; Guts is dark and cold.
Also, yes, I am implying Guts didn't get his ass handed to him on a regular basis. He always won. He won so much that cutting through swaths of dozens, hundreds of soldier is "meh, par" for him. The only times he ever is on the losing side of a fight is the extremely rare depictions (which end up being the main point of an arc or plot point) where he goes against a particularly powerful apostle, god-being or literally an entire army of soldiers/demons. I can think of, what? Maybe 7-8 instances where this is the case? Griffith beats him as a pre-teen, Zodd overwhelms him and then leaves, during the sacrifice (which is fucking survived), moth-girl apostle, Zodd again, more Zodd (while beating Grunbeld), and then a giant demon octopus whale god. I fucking was holding his own against Slan until Skull Knight took him away. He beat his encounters with Ganishka and Daiba's domain-control summons. Gut's does NOT get his ass "handed to him on a regular basis."
>>142153741
Isidro a best.
>>142153502
Griffith was chosen for the destiny of becoming a godhand because of his determination and dream to be king.
whereas the other godhand are told to obey Void, Griffith is told that he can do what he wants, because the idea already knows that griffith wants to be king , which suits the idea just fine.
So Griffith still works for a god made entirely out of evil, he just has less direction than say Conrad or Ublik

>Lotsa magic users lived where I came from
Like the witches in Skellig. Neat.
I miss when Berserk had this level of detail rather than the current level of hyper detail.
infact I'd be happy with Berserk always looking like anything from volume 11-28 or so
I dont think the series gains anything by becoing more detailed and ornate after that point.
If anything looking at teh recent chapters I'd say that Miura's higher level of detail now means that he is less comfortable drawing small panels and so he needs to use more full-pages which slows down the progress of the story.
as individual drawings they've gotten better but I think that as comics his pages peaked anywhere from volume 11 to volume 28 or so

Oh wow. I mean, I'm nearly 30 and this is an accumulation of religious and mythological studies on a personal and educational level. That would be a LOT to cite. I'm sure there are wikipedia stuff that can give you all your "citations" but I am certain in what I said.
What can you do? It's enormous translation differences from texts written by dozens...maybe hundreds of people. Over hundreds, thousands of years. From different cultures, styles, languages. Some literal, some heavily referential, some historical, some almost like fairy tales. All confused when metaphors are misunderstood.
But yeah. While many Abrahamic religions ascribe to the idea that divine beings exist who perform a monolith's ideals, it is wildly up for interpretation how it goes into effect. Lucifer "the Morning Star" and ruler of hell is not a traditionally supported concept, however, even if the terms and names are found in multiple different stories in that region, at the time (though referring to MANY different things, sometimes even King of Babylon Nebudchanezzer or the simple idea of a malevolent force)
>>142153811
>even at Isidro's age, was a competent and powerful fighter wielding a large weapon and killing in combat and was already a boy of large stature
Irrelevant to personality, which is what we're discussing.
>Isidro wants fame, fortune, and girls while he showboats, is boisterous, craves attention and is generally a goofball. Guts is none of those things.
This is true, but let's look at things from a young girls perspective. Both are brash, abrasive, prone to violence, loud-mouthed and generally offensive.
My main point is that Schierke would be just as derisive to young Guts as she is to Isidro.
However, since you keep bringing up powerlevels, let me remind you that Guts wasn't exactly cleaving through Apostles when he was Isidros age. Guts killed Gambino at around the same age Isidro is now, and they're about the same size. For some reason I think you're imagining Guts younger than he was or Isidro older than he is.
And yes, Guts gets dragged through the mud more than a few times. There are multiple times he would have died if not for fate/luck/willpower. Just because he won in the end doesn't mean he doesn't get beat all to fuck. His first encounter with Zodd he was about to bite it when Griffith's Deus Ex-on-a-chain scares him off.

Just to be clear, I'm not even considering Shierke in all this. I don't care who she falls in love/doesn't fall in love with or why. I simply read that you were somehow finding young Isidro and young Guts comparable; ruffians. I suppose if you reduce it to a single descriptor like that, then sure they're "alike." They're also "male." You're right in that Shierke probably is infatuated with Guts not for his personality but because he's a 6' 3" man of muscle and masculinity and Isidro is a boy.
Guts and Isidro are very different in nearly every single way, at any any age in any circumstance. While Griffith is Guts' complete opposite and Isidro is not particularly like the genteel Griffith, his ambition and need for attention/power is the same. If you want to continue a discussion about "will Shierke love Guts if he was the same as as Isidro" who the fuck knows. Probably not because Guts is a complete asshole mercenary who kills and while that's still pretty masculine, it's not miraculous like the power of cursed, old Guts.
