I think it's connected to Estarossa. Galan said that they'd have already died several times over if they hadn't been sealed, so time apparently doesn't flow while you're sealed. But if time is stopped then how did Estarossa age to a point where he seems older than Mel? Considering that Mel's wanted poster that was essentially the knights' prediction of what Mel would look like in a decade (if he was human) was almost identical to Estarossa, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Estarossa somehow ages in Mel's stead and that's what Estarossa appearing in Elizabeth's dream as well as the yin-yang symbolism in the last chapter was supposed to signify.
