Do you usually find it faster to watch the anime of a series

Manga is faster.

Have you literally never read manga before? There's no point in asking about it, it's objectively faster to read manga. A volume can often be read in the timespan of an episode but an episode never covers a full volume.

my attention span is terrible so this new 5 minute anime format is a blessing

I'm reading Berserk and it takes about 30 to 50 minutes depending on what volume it is, this with occasional stops to admire the beautiful art.

It depends on the series, 20-25 minutes is normal for me if the volume is under 200 pages and not too wordy. I'm a fast reader though.

reading a chapter pretty much takes less than 5 minutes compared to the 20 min anime episode

Even when I speed up my anime about 1.5x, I still find reading the manga much faster
And yeah hardly ever verbose so there's never a need to subvocalize

Well there is that saying of how a single page of manga equals to 1-5 minutes of a show depending on pacing.

Using Berserk as an example since the one anon mentioned it, most of its volumes are 9 chapters, usually 15-20 pages, and the most recent chapter averaged ~19 words a page. If the average episode is 23/24 minutes, that's 8 seconds a page.

You're telling me that you can't adequately understand the text and appreciate the art of a 19-word page in eight seconds?
