I'd say it's really up in the air at this point. They're pushing her love for Satoshi harder than ever right now and the female Sun/Moon protagonist looks more like her current design than the female X/Y protagonist does.
Add in that the Tripokalons don't actually exist in the games anyway, and they can easily just put them in the Sun/Moon anime too as an excuse to keep her around. It's what they did with Haruka after the Hoenn arc ended, after all.

It's a running arc at this point, but in short, one of his Pokemon received a new unknown powerup that he's been attempting to control, but which is getting more and more problematic for him over time. He also failed extremely bad at trying to impress a kid that basically idolizes him, getting his ass kicked in front of him twice in a row.

At this point he just lost it and went moping in the forest since everything was going wrong for him.

Act IV was said to be the final act and XY&Z was specifically said to be a crossover between XY and the Strongest Mega Evolution series, so no.
Those specials just existed to build up Alan Manon and Fleur-de-lis's characters prior to their debut in the show.

This episode made me like Serena,up until now I was indifferent to her. Friends do not allow friends to wallow in self pity.

I'm also glad that Ash got himself together and we got some insight into his past.

I just started watching XY because I was intrigued by all the noise around this season. So far it's certainly been more engaging than what I expected, and it would actually be pretty good if it were compressed into like 24 eps instead of like 100 or whatever.

The pikachu vs mega lucario fight where he goes all berserk made the whole thing worth it for me. I haven't laughed that hard watching anime in a long time. Watching pikachu just get brutally savaged and seeing the fear of death in satoshi's eyes... was just so tonally absurd for this show that I cannot watching it without busting up laughing.

But that happens with nearly every new area he goes to. He tosses all his old pokemon to Oak and takes pikachu with him. The only reason that happens is so they can show off the new pokemon every time.

After they revealed the league stadium, I think what will happen is that we'll get the Team Flare "cannon to cleanse humanity" plot right in the middle of the league.

After Ash beats them the league will be cancelled due to the destruction of the stadium, which was right above their base and thus he'll leave to another region without the Pokemon League champion title.

Or I guess they could pull a Black & White (game) and have the league getting interrupted right for the final battle, with the final opponent being also the other finalist, and Ash beating them there, technically winning even without an official match.

In XY I'd argue that the most interesting characters are the pokemon, and probably Serena because she's the one who's all trying to find herself and shit. But the pokemon actually have arcs and personal struggles they need to overcome. And the show actually does a really good job of getting all of that across via the direction given that they're all characters who don't speak.

The human characters are all pretty necessarily static, but the show makes up for it by rigorously and liberally developing all of the pokemon characters. Just look at the mega lucario arc. I think the difference is that Serena's relationship has been setup in a way where it needs some kind of resolution in order for the narrative of the series to work. That doesn't mean that she's more likely to stick around, there are tons of ways it could be resolved, but it does imply that the nature of their relationship will be addressed somehow. Maybe she'll just keep it to herself because she wants satoshi to continue on his journey, but if that's the case then there will have to be some kind of internal conflict and resolution on the part of serena in order for the narrative to work.

So I guess what I'm saying is that everybody knows that they have to address this gigantic hanging loose end before the new series starts. And the nature of the issue is not quite like anything that's happened in pokemon before. So there's a little bit of a question mark on it. They've strayed from the formula, if only a little bit. So what people are wondering is if this portends larger changes, or if they'll just return to the formula. If they just go back to business as usual, then it would be sort of a let down after they've built up this new thing.

I'm not saying she'll stay or go, I don't really have a dog in that fight, but I think the reason for all the renewed interest recently is these hints of something different going on. And it's fair to speculate what, if anything, those hints really mean.

BW was doing all kinds of weird experimental things, most of which weren't very positively received. Iris is the least popular female companion by far. The series also suffered hard from a lack of direction, lots of executive meddling leading to aborted subplots, clearly unplanned changes to planned shit and multiple badly executed rating stunts, the most blatant one being bringing Charizard back to Ash's team for the last 30 episodes of the series and have it do absolutely fuck all beyond some generic Team Rocket fights and scouting missions.

XY ditched most of the shitty changes and felt more like a natural continuation of DP. They also replaced the director, the first time this has ever been done between series, and the old director hasn't really touched Pokemon again since (he did some storyboarding on the Diancie movie, but that's all), so it's pretty clear they saw it as a failure and gave him the blame.

If you go by the games, Lance was just the final member of the Elite Four. Blue (or Green depending on your view) was the Champion as soon as he beat Lance. Then Red beat Blue. Who was the Champion before Blue? No one knows.

Then, Gen 2 comes around and Lance is now the Champion. Does that mean Lance beat Red and Blue in a rematch? Or does the title default to him because Red and Blue turned it down?

Surely that has as many responsibilities as being Champion might, but without the perks of the high title. I can't see a reason why Blue would turn it down. You have no real control over when your Pokemon evolves or learns a new move, nor do you have any significant control over WHAT moves they can learn. You can't just shuffle through tall grass hoping to get certain Pokemon, you just have to hope as you're moving through this fuck-huge region, you just happen to run into something decent. You have to go through hell and back to get good items like Evolutionary or Mega Stones. You have to constantly think out of the box in order to win, always coming up with strategies on the go and improvising. Even putting aside the physical aspect of traveling through an entire region and doing all the other shit that being a trainer entails, it's honestly amazing that so many trainers manage to make it to the regional tournaments at all. That shit's brutal. And trainers start at the age of 10?
