7arcs seems to have a boner for this now. They did the same thing in Dog Days, its just too many fucking characters. In Vivid I didn't even care about any of them, I just wanted to see the old characters. I thought StrikesS was mediocre but Vivid was hot garbage. I think I need to come to terms that the franchise is dead. The old fans are getting older and Force along with Vivid failed to generate any new interest. 7arcs seems to forget what made Nanoha so successful.

The only thing that can save Nanoha and Dog Days is to get a different writer. Tsuzuki can't wite for shit. He creates these amazing worlds and cool characters and then does nothing worthwhile with them.

Vivid had nothing, they could have made the whole 'reincarnating heroes" thing be a huge plot point but it was just used as a plot device to handwave how some kids have super powers.

I mildly agree. That's true mainly for Vivid because that was made with yuri pandering as one of the main selling points unlike previous installments. Problem is that it has barely anything else beyond that and that's when ut feels shallow.

The original trilogy didn't had that trouble because those had actual stories to tell while the cutesy moments between girls were just a bonus.

I digged Vivid's concept of a more lighthearted story at first but after the DSAA tournament the manga fell flat on its face and started introducing dozens of characters without shame.

I got into this series because a scene from striker when it was airing, where Nanoha fucked up Tea during training for insubordination. I thought "huh, that was different" and marathon Nanoha and A's. Ironically, I got out of the show because striker as well, I was never able to finish it. I just lost interest about the last third of strikers for some reason.

Yuri was another reason I got out of it, it got very thick by the 3rd season. I generally likes other aspect of the show, the magic-teks, the fights, the plots, I felt that it was different and interesting. Unfortunately the subtext for yuri gets in the way for me.

It doesn't feel appropriate for me to do fan work for it since I wasn't into it so I just sort of tuned out of the series ever since then. For the past 9 years I have been trying to make something "like this" I feel its something I could like. I am really bad at it tho.

Not the same Anon, but Nanoha was the yuri series with the biggest representation during 2006-2008 in Japan, in number of doujin it only gets surpassed by Touhou now. Nanoha had an influence in yuri as a subgenre of seinen that you can't ignore just because you don't like the genre.

It was more subtext that the growing yuri fanbase of the time extrapolated times ten. It's not that farfetched there are fans the got hooked to the show for stuff other than yuri, i'm one of those and the main trilogy had more substance than just girl on girls being cute.

Of course with the series dying and yuri being its main audience now they totally forgot the substance and are just milking the shiptease between girls like there's no tomorrow (although, to their credit that's not far from the truth).

I agree that yuri may not be what attracted the absolute majority of the people to watch the first two animated series initially, we don't know that, in any case the 2 later series or manga seem like better candidates for that, but we still lack statistics about this. We're mostly talking from personal experience being Nanoha fans for so many years and anecdotal evidence, which isn't enough to draw a conclusion, but what I can personally see is that yuri was one of the biggest strengths of the franchise, not one of its weaknesses that needed to be removed, as evidenced by the influence of Nanoha in the medium and the general popularity of yuri within the series.

Weapons that fire physical projectiles are usually banned mass-based weapons, and a high-profile group like Section Six can't be seen obviously flaunting the law.

The other major source of projectiles seem to be rare skills like Belkan magic and summoning.

Also I think people are missing the "Force" aspect of the series.

The TSAB bans mass based weaponry. The reason behind this is that they basically believe this kind of weaponry will lead to civilizations destroying themselves, just like the Belkans did. In Strikers Graham tried to convince the TSAB to abolish this as dependence on Ace mages was apparently not enough. His theory failed when Nanoha and friends saved the day anyway and the current minds running TSAB were killed by one of the numbers.

Fast forward to Force. Now we're introduced to an enemy that literally requires mass based weaponry, because of the virus (which is largely inferred to come from shady TSAB weapon testing again) that can nullify a lot of the current magic based weaponry. You could easily see where this was going from what we had of the series. Curren and the Hucks were eventually going to be cornered by Hayate and everyone was gonna figure out that some portion of the TSAB was trying to develop a new weapon system and fucked up royally. Cut to what I was suspecting was going to be straight up a Betrayers level revolt from Hayate to topple the TSAB bullshit once and for all and set things straight. The Hucks get rehabilitated and cured like the Numbers.

Problem is that's fucking boring. We know it's not like that, but if it was, it would be a far more interest and well-written story. It's an example of why Nanoha is objectively garbage, as the author doesn't understand the concept of conflict.

He does, and particularly S1 was great in how it had the conflict while having utterly sympathetic antagonist. Conflicts where the other side is a perfectly nice and good person that is driven by merciless situation and just has to give it her all to beat the good guys are much better than when there are baddies that "do evil because they are corrupt".

Do it like in As (where Graham isn't corrupt, he is just desperately trying to prevent catastrophe and is shown to care for his unlucky victim), and the conflict is much better.
