I watched the anime for like 6 or so episodes until Medaka tried to get friendly with a dog or some shit. It was baasically SoL.

It started as some highschool problem solving manga like Sket Dance, hence the title "Medaka Box" (referring to the suggestion box where they receive requests) They probably thought doing more of those wasn't a good idea so they turned it to a battle shounen instead.
