I prefer Hisoka as a character (even though I also like Chrollo) but I just can't see him winning.

He's strong as fuck with big physical alibities along with great Hatsu .Bungee gum is versatile and very useful in combat as in a lot of different ways (as we've seen him using it with the prediction in York Shin City).

But Chrollo is supposed to be one the strongest out there.
He's leading the most fearful murderers group. And he has been shown of an equivalent strength to Silva Zoldyck, who's probably also one the strongest characters we've seen.

Though I must confess the fight has been quite underwhelming so far.
I'd expect Chrollo to show more impressive stolen powers.

It's obvious the fight will end in one of two ways. Either:

1 - Hisoka wins the fight but it was such an orgasmic experience for him, possibly the greatest and most thrilling fight of his life, that he deems it to be a waste to finish off Chrollo and instead tells him to go collect some more abilities so they can have fun again.

2 - Chrollo was bluffing about wanting it to be a deathmatch and really only wanted to test his abilities as well as steal Hisoka's, which is precisely what he does after beating him. Naturally he lets Hisoka live, so he can continue to use his ability. They then go their separate ways with Chrollo now having the godly power of rubber and gum and Hisoka gets the chance to have some real character developing because without his ability he can no longer live for battle and must find some other purpose in life. He could even meet up with Gon, who's in a fairly similar position after having lost his Nen. Or he could get in touch with Kurapika, telling him he'll aid him in killing Chrollo so he can get his ability back. Or hire Illumi to go after Chrollo, the possibilities are endless.

Personally I'd prefer option 2, but one of the two will most certainly happen. Screencap this.

Sadly I'd rather have a more generic and predictable fan fiction-tier conclusion to this fight than one of these two major antagonists actually being written out of the story in a throwaway fanservice fight with zero build-up.

It'd be particularly crazy to kill off Chrollo, whose character is still very much an enigma and whose feud with Pika can still be explored in so many ways. After all the build up with Pakunoda sacrificing herself so the remaining spiders can know about his abilities and the whole subplot to get Chrollo's Nen back in Greed Island, it'd be real lame if Chrollo just died here and Kurapika's revenge story ends anti-climatically.

And yes, I know Pika says he's focused on the eyes now, but I don't buy it (pic related). Also the Troupe could go after him this time to get revenge for Uvo and Paku. It'd be interesting to have Kurapika on the receiving end of revenge this time around.

Checked the Viz manga translation. Chrollo's poem doesn't mention anything about him dying, or even anything particular about Hisoka. Hisoka's is ambiguous - it says "removed from the calendar is the false hare", which could refer to Hisoka dying or simply leaving the group.

So I guess this could mean they wouldn't have fought for some reason anyway. And if they had fought, Chrollo would've survived.

That was a tongue in cheek comment in one interview, I wouldn't take it as a literal, absolute truth. IIRC the question was what will happen to Kurapika vs Spiders and Togashi said "They will all die." That could include Kurapika and may have just meant that everyone dies eventually, i.e. his way of dismissing the question.

But I suppose it could also be interesting if the leader of the troupe were to die first and see how the remaining spiders handle that. I find Chrollo to be the most interesting character in the troupe though, so him dying now would still come off as a waste of potential to me.

I actually like Hisoka better, he's my favorite HxH character, but we've seen enough of him and know what he's about well enough that I'd be more okay with him being written out of the story. But Chrollo's character is still rather shrouded in mystery and we only got brief glimpses of what drives him in York Shin, so I'd like him to get more development before biting it. But with Togashi you never know, I guess.

I've been re-reading the manga and I can honestly say that I dont see Hisoka losing or dying. Everything from Yorkshin to now has been a constant build-up for Hisoka to either kill or win against Chrollo.

I picture it this way: Hisoka kills Chrollo, the Spider decides to hunt him down. Hisoka is too wounded to take them on so he decides to get on the boat (maybe as a bodyguard). The Spiders find out and follow him, so he hires Illumi to help him out, like he did in Yorkshin

In Japanese Hunter X Hunter community, there is a theory supported by many manga readers. Remember Hisoka's family was revealed out of nowhere at the beginning of this fight? His last name is "Moreau" that comes from 19th century's french painter Gustave Moreau. His art style is biblical and mythological which Togashi loves. One of the most important work of Gustve Moreau is a painting called "The Apparition". In that painting, a dancer "Salome(Hisoka)" confronts the the head of "John the Baptist(Chrollo)". Togashi is apperently tries to reproduce the scene of the painting. If so, Chrollo is going to be decapitated by Hisoka in the end of this battle.
