How is everyone liking the series so far?
Let's get this outta the way.
Reminder that the pastebin is a very short summary of the arcs so far.
He actually has an inferiority complex and crippling depression, from the get-go he calls himself an "ugly person" not to mention later on in the series he constantly calls himself trash, stupid, weak and useless. The more cheery and meme-spouting he is, the farther away he is from his actual personality.
While it is mostly for his father to blame, the reason why he is so happy and excited for the new world and why he is so clingy to the people around him was due to the fact its a new life and a fresh start. He can finally make a name for himself rather than live up to his father, not to mention they were the first people who treated him kindly, and a place he can call "home" a place of his own, basically, Subaru still loves them nonetheless. He felt detached thus his reasons for wanting to work so hard in this world and dying for others was to have a place where he could belong. He wanted to have something that was his and his alone that he could work for instead of being in the shadows of someone else. He has a chance. Could have been early in the story but I guess better late than never, right?
Not to mention he craves their approval because he craves anyone's approval. He hates himself and tries to make himself feel better by saving others, it doesn't work and his own sense of worth only grows worse. That's why he boils over eventually. You people seem to underestimate just how much Subaru hates himself.
Not only that but he was marked for death the moment he stepped into the world, so even IF he abandoned people he would have died anyways, maybe in more brutal ways. Considering how many people actually start hunting him down once he gets transported.

Is this accurate?
I'm glad I picked this up even though a few episodes late
So far out of 7 anime I picked up this season this has me pretty hype for each upcoming episode
inb4 "only 7?" this season has been a backlog season for me
It's basically happy tree friends with a weak story and poorly written contrived plot.
>You can't tell them about respawn or else a magical hand will come out of nowhere and literally stop you.
It's like the shit head who wrote this saw how flimsy his plot was so he often pulls shit like this to create shitty absurd conflicts.
It's a poorly written stuck in a fantasy world anime about a guy that gets killed literally because he desperately wants to fuck some hoe he just met.
It's pretty bad but the edgy shit is at least mildly entertaining if not hilarious how over dramatic and serious this shit takes itself.
It's like you didn't even pay attention. The same entity that gave him the ability to respawn is the same that doesn't want him talking about it. And this entity is basically Re:Zero's Voldemort.
Obviously this means his "gift" is starting to look more malevolent in nature.
Just finished episode 1, it's not all too impressive but I'll say I don't find it as insulting as Danmachi or antimagic. I'lll likely binge the rest today and wait patiently for more. So far a light 7.
I think Subaru is a great protagonist. He is stealing the show by himself with his great attitude. I am slightly let down by the lack of screen time of other male characters. I like Reinhart and Roswaal and old man Rom but they had quite minor appearances so far.
>I didn't want to like this series from the start so I won't pay attention to key details and will throw buzzword terms like 'edgy' and 'mildly entertaining' when giving absolutely shit criticism
CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWLING IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN MY SKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN
THIS WOUUUUUUUND WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIL NOT HEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
>MC has a completely normal reaction to being tortured knowing that you're about to die and have to live through the same bullshit all over again.
It's edgy because of the unrealistic number of times the MC tumbles down the long flight of torture porn stairs someone built in his house, not because of how he acts on the ride.
Did you even watch the show? or read the LN?
The entity is the crackhead author and the entire plot is based off of stupid ass contrived plot points with no logical explanation.
Once we get to the witch arc and the show actually starts getting edgy as they victimize subaru to entice the normalfags, even they'll start asking.
Won't be long before even the retards realize the whole reason any of this is happening is because he wanted to fuck half elf chick.
>falling in love with someone who wants you dead and admits she only pretended to be nice to you
So I take it Subaru has battered wife syndrome?
What does that have anything to do with my post?
Oh okay, I thought you're the same guy.
>Implying he likes them romantically
>Implying he doesn't love them like a person loves a family member
Can you people not pick up these social queues or something? This series isn't a harem for fucks sakes.
>read the LN
As much as I'd like to, I think the massive brain tumor I'd get from trying to read a machine translation would kill any enjoyment I might get.
So I dunno, maybe in the LN he acts in completely nonsensical ways to traumatic events, I was just expressing the opinion that in that scene it would be weirder if he didn't have a mental breakdown.
It's not edgy to ask why he is being repeatedly murdered by the people he viewed as friends/companions prior. He recognizes later that episode that he is dying because he has failed at something critical and that has been foreshadowed the entire arc. That he needs to earn both of their trust and that he is being way too lackadaisical about how threatening and suspicious his own actions are and too ignorant of his own situation.
Investigating him is one of the primary reasons Emilia had him come to their place rather than go to Reinhardt's.
You're probably the same guy as above, but there is absolutely nothing contrived and everything is adequately foreshadowed if you are looking for it.
I think that many things are implied or can be inferred about both the entity and why Subaru is in the situation he is in. However, it is not answered immediately because the dread Subaru feels over not knowing is critical to informing his perspective. It is also a central mystery, but one that I feel is solvable and that there are a huge amount of clues as to why things are the way they are.
You also seem to forget that the story begins with him being pulled into the world. He's already being dragged and manipulated prior to even wanting to fuck the half elf chick.
>It's not edgy to ask
>proceed to describe edgy
I don't know about you but if one of my family members admitted that they never cared for me and tried to kill me I'd feel betrayed and wouldn't love them any more.
Also I wouldn't consider someone I just met for a period of 2 weeks family. But then again Subaru has "crippling depression" so that excuses every stupid fucking thing he does right? We can't criticize him because he's a victim, even though he brings all this shit on himself.
>he needs to earn their trust
Why? He has no obligation to them whatsoever. If anything they would need to earn back his trust before he lifts a finger to help them because they murdered him simply because he's a weirdo.
Because he feels indebted to them.
Not to mention because of his personality he feels like it was him who did something wrong not the other person.
>he's indebted to them
Wow they taught him how to peel potatoes good. That's a multiple life debt to repay all right.
Did you both somehow miss all of the really obvious clues in he last few episodes? And I mean literally almost every episode.
>Subaru's feeling like shit
>Dramatic pause, usually on his face
>Suddenly SUPER GENKI
Now go back to Arc 1. Notice something?
Forgot to quote.
Clearly he hates himself as much as the maids do since he's willing to commit suicide to appease their bloodlust.
said, he's a basket case.
I can't wait to see what kind of wacky shit he puts himself through for no reason later on. He's a glutton for punishment.
It was for like 4 days. And they kill him at the end of the 4 days. Repeatedly. Without regret or concern.
I just cannot empathize with his whole breakdown about how much he trusted the rude, murderous, callous maids.
Actually it was more like half a month or longer considering the loops.
Like I said, he thinks its his fault that they are trying to kill him not the others.
Please stop trying to self insert as the MC, it isn't that type of series.
So a guy walks into a furry girls bathroom...
Well, we have to consider their perspective too. They're motivated by the same thing Subaru is, fear. They're desperately trying to protect themselves and the people they love.
>wants to get close to a royal candidate during a time when such a person is extremely important and is already being targeted by other factions
And considering Subaru hasn't done a whole lot to not make himself look shady as fuck, it's perfectly reasonable for them to perceive him as a threat.
Not saying their actions are right, but the logic is sound.
Alright Autist, let me break this down for you.
This is not set in a modern day setting. It is not 2016. They are not in a democracy. They are in a monarchy where the throne is currently absent. The entire future of who rules the kingdom, who has power and the right of sovereignty is at stake. Emilia is in line for the throne and people are trying to kill her or use her for their advantage, because that is what you do in a succession struggle in a monarchy.
Subaru mysteriously appears as a rescuer of Emilia. Without speaking to her, he knows that her insignia has been stolen, and his message "do not go to the loot house" is what brought her there in the first place where an attempt is made on her life. He then becomes her rescuer in an event that could very well be staged for him to gain trust.
Emilia brings him back to the mansion. Her purpose is to investigate him and find out what he knows, because it's already something. He is there not as a "guest" but as a suspect. He also has the smell of the witch on him, meaning, the most evil entity in the world is definitely connected to him. And very strongly so. This is the exact smell present at the destruction of their village by the Witch's cult. Ram and Rem then took refuge at the mansion. And he brings the smell in there.
His first death has nothing to do with either Ram or Rem but with a plot aimed at damaging Emilia's prospects for the throne by creating a scandal such as a murder or mysterious death at her place of residence.
This causes Subaru to begin acting extremely suspicious. At the same time, it strengthens the Witch's stench.
that sounds disappointing and a worse story line to work towards to. Reinhardt as the main hero and Subaru as the main villain sounds like a shitty plot considering Reinhardt is a gary stu and will most likely just defeat Subaru.
We don't know about that as of yet, Subaru just might be evenly matched with Reinhardt or stronger once he absobs all of the essences.
It could be another re-run of Satella, maybe a passing of a torch.
>subaru tells reinhardt to tell emilia to not go to the loot house
>emilia brings subaru to the mansion
Why are you blaming Subaru? He was brought to the mansion unconscious with his guts all out in the open. And Subaru smells like the witch? Who gives a shit? Emilia is a carbon copy of the witch, I don't see Rem ever bashing Emilia's brains in over her appearance.
I feel like Reinhardt will end up as a near endgame tier villain. That fucker is too perfect. He's hiding something.
I mean come on, he's INSTANTLY there in the nick of time on the last loop of the first event TWICE.
He has powers that he can quite literally pull out of his ass as the needs be
Yet somehow he has no allies, and his grandfather who was the partner of the previous owner of Reinhardt's title (which is almost a divine right) wants nothing to do with him
Shit's shady as hell.
This is also kinda shady.
Subaru never specified WHICH loot house.
There is no way in hell in a city as major as that there's only one loot house.
Not to mention how the fuck would she know which one in particular she had to go to?
Jesus Christ why are people sperging out so much over this? He's attached himself to these people because when he had nowhere to turn, they took him in. When he was teleported he thought he as going to stride through on easy mode as some chosen one, but that got dashed incredibly quickly. So how do you establish yourself in a world where you can't read or write, don't have any money and have no knowledge of the world around you? Just going to wing it?
Subaru got involved with Emilia by accident, but after the loops it ends up being the one thing he can dedicate himself to. Their kindness and structure is the only thing he can be sure of, even if the others in the timeline keep forgetting. Did no one feel the pain in his voice when he was getting beat?
>HURR WHY IS SUBARU IN LOVE WITH THE MAIDZ?????? HE SAID DAISUKI SO OBVIOUSLY ITS ROMANTIC LOVE
>WOW WHY DOES THIS FAGGOT STILL LIKE THEM AFTER BONDING WITH THEM CLOSELY THEN GETTING KILLED BECAUSE OF MISUNDERSTANDINGS
Honestly just can't come into the threads any more. The most baffling irony of this entire thing is that people call him a self-insert, but are utterly incapable of understanding his (completely normal and justified) emotions.
Great show though.
>I don't know about you but if one of my family members admitted that they never cared for me and tried to kill me I'd feel betrayed and wouldn't love them any more.
Holy shit. You might want to get that checked because you might be psychotic.
He has two causes of death in the second loop. He has been cursed as part of efforts against Emilia (that also have another purpose) and he is already going to die from that curse.
As he is dying, he heads towards Emilia's room, the person Rem/Ram are assigned to protect. He does so heavy with the Witch's scent as he staggers towards Emilia's room vomiting. It turns out that a sect of the Witch Cult also vomits. At this point, he is approaching a potential heir to the throne, in the dark, while looking entirely like and smelling entirely like a witch cult member. So he is killed.
This is a world where people have powers and you have no idea what anyone can do. Elsa can kill people so quickly they do not even see it coming. There are others in the Witch Cult that are even more dangerous. Why take that risk? Why not kill someone who has a very shady past, who has no one to back up his story, who is not politically connected to you, and is extremely suspicious as he heads towards an assassination target. So he is killed and rightfully so. There is just no point to not killing him, since he is either a spy or worse.
In the third loop he acts extremely suspicious. He knows where everything is at the mansion, he is familiar with the schedule and places, he talks about his intention to make a promise with Emilia, and he smells so evil that it's nearly unbearable for anyone who can smell it. He is also investigating areas and acting generally strange the whole time.
Then, he thanks everyone, states that he is leaving, and then he hides on the perimeter of the mansion with a knife, with a perfect view of Emilia's room. So he already lied to them about leaving, he already seems too informed, and he already looks like he is a killer. What would you do if you saw someone outside an assassination target's house, holding a knife, when they told you they would leave? And they have that unique scent.
Obviously, you would want information and to eliminate a threat.
>it's completely normal to fall in love with (as a family member) someone who tries to murder you repeatedly within 4 days
>it's just a misunderstanding bro, don't take it personally
>Why is happy/sad that makes no sense?
>Here's what he SHOULD have done
>He HAS INFINITE loops, that means he can do ANYTHING
>Why does he love the maids that's retarded
>Why does is he so devoted to Emilia, the first person he met in a world he has no place in, it makes no sense
>The AU is canon, Rem is my waifu
It's not even that. They did genuinely care in several instances across several loop as seen by the hand holding thing. Ram liked him in most loops as well, given what she reports to the cloun.
Sometimes they grow to hate him but other times they are nice, however the cards fall they are people who feel warm and familiar to him in a world filled with seemingly endless death and suffering where he doesn't know anyone, own anything or know about how things work
>break your bonds
>the same as not loving them anymore
Breaking your bonds with someone doesn't mean you don't love them anymore, anon. It's a pretty common theme in most of any media ever.
Finally, I will make something else clear to you.
Subaru gaining the trust of Rem/Ram and avoiding death is so that he could stay close to Emilia. This is the goal of the Witch. Subaru IS her agent. She is the one that is resetting him. She is the one that moves the save points when things she wants done get done. And Subaru cannot proceed with his life unless he executes the Witch's will and does what she wants.
So, they actually should kill him. He is unwittingly collaborating with the Witch and there is no way for him to not be her agent. That is what he is compelled to do, and while the things he does appear nice, they are the Witch's goals and she is probably not planning something great.
Beyond killing him, they should actually do something to prevent him from respawning. Like... sealing him away. However, they cannot because he is not able to disclose his power.
So, that he isn't killed means he is still in the world and advancing the Witch's scheme.
It does not matter if another person does not know they are carrying a lethal and contagious disease or a bomb. You do not want them near you.
I read somewhere in another thread that the witches scent was worse after his first iteration in the mansion. Can an LN fag elaborate on that? Does it just keep getting worse?
Also can someone just spoil it for me? Does anyone ever figure out that he's looping, or this whole story endless suffering alone in hell?
I really enjoy it but the fanbase makes me pic related
That's just what happens for shows with source material. There's no way to prevent it, if you make a separate thread for anime only discussion spoilerfags would tank it. If you don't like it don't read the thread.
Subaru sticks around because it's his best option. He honestly has nowhere else to go, unless you think you can just start a new life relatively easily with no resources or knowledge. Plus, what would he gain then? He's got himself involved with fairly interesting and important people who care about him. What would you do? Go the loner route and just do whatever and never interact with anyone? Get together with an adventuring troupe? Why would anyone hire you?
So because his best option is to stick with those he knows fairly well, he tries his best to relate and help as best he can. That's why he feels so hurt when he dies and why he feels obliged to keep doing it.
It's like a kid who gets bullied at school. Does that kid just fuck right off and leave school so he doesn't have to deal with his problems? Of course not, the bullying just makes him want to prove himself even more, because not being in school at all would be an even worse option. Maybe since you're all unemployed NEETs with strained familial relationships so you guys just drop people like they're nothing, but people who actually desire company and acceptance will do anything to help repair what's broken.
He doesn't know that Satella cursed him with resets until later in the plot.
Hell, part of the reason it took so long for him to leap off the cliff in arc 2 is because he wasn't sure he had any resets left.
Fuck what anyone else says. Subaru deserves more happy ends than anyone else at this point. Hell, he's had a harder life in five fucking days than Guts has had.
The whole reason i come to /a/ anymore is for the discussion. The memes are forced and the jokes are stale. Just want to talk about the latest anime with like minded folk. For some reason this show in particular seems to be crawling with spoiler fags and i cant seem to escape them
This is literally the case for all shows that have an actual plot and come from a novel or manga that has advanced past the current point of the anime. Should LNfags not have a place to discuss their shit?
Separate threads don't really work in a place like /a/, there will always be retarded spoilerfags who take it as a challenge or didn't pay attention to the rules of the thread and post there anyway.
Well, you have to consider that things will change from version to version and even with the spoilers you're actually missing huge things in the story that no one has spoiled yet. There are some very important reveals and little things that no one here mentions.
Also there are tons of scenes present in the WN that end up getting cut.
Animefag here. The way I'm understanding Subaru's resets is that he keeps anything he's learned and memories, but when it comes to physical things like injuries and muscle they don't carry over?
Yes to both.
She shows up in front of Subaru, and she's a silver haired half-elf who looks eerily similar to Emilia.
Have you been skipping shit?
they went over this in the first goddamn episode.
This is the premise of the show, even.
When he dies, he physically, not mentally, resets to the last checkpoint.
His body is returned to how he was at the last checkpoint.
It's like playing an RPG that only has autosaves.
Felt is so badass now for ordering Onii-sama like that
Well it's not really likes Subaru has any idea of what the ability entails (yet), but thanks for the clarification! Also trying to find a way he could potentially abuse the resets.
I hope we get to understand why the fuck she loves him so much.
And soon. Like, this shit is killing me.
Poor kids needs some kind of happiness. Any at all.
Hell lock Emilia in his loops too, something.
ctrl+s Yeah, I mean like a time traveling Emilia. And now that you've spilled the beans you gotta explain why she's suddenly such a nutter and why everything is going down as it is, if you know it.
I just hope Subaru gets his happy ending.
Like goddamn the poor kid needs it.
>yanked into another world entirely against his whim
>killed over a girl he just met
>almost four times
>killed by a whale
>killed by looking too much like a witch cult member
>killed by his only friends in the new world for being suspicious
>murdered HUNDREDS of times by the witch cult
All for the sake of someone who only can say to him that she loves him
And the sole reason he isn't fucking bailing doesn't like him as much anymore.
Like the sheer mental fortitude this kid has is award winning.
He's gotta earn something for all this shit.
> Killed by a whale.
he's guts' teacher
here he is showing him how to do many helpful stretches
Yup, and wait till we get our own man of magical wisdom to teach Subaru the ways of sagacity.
To the point where femanons will start fueling the doujins.
Just wait for this secondary mc to take the stage.
Can some one post that picture of Subaru like this, I saw it in one of these threads, I think.
Rem is worst girl. Subaru lost his balls at Rem's deathbed conflict. Also his voice actor makes my ears hurt. The tone shift when he pulled Betty's hair was jarring and ruined the impact of the scene. They cut the scene where Emilia tries to cheer Subaru up.
Otherwise it was a decent episode, probably the high point which isn't saying much.
This is the best explanation I can give that can answer all the shitposting questions without spoilers.
Mansion Timeline 1: If he didn't die he would have been perfectly fine. Everyone would have liked him and he would have integrated perfectly.
Mansion Timeline 2+: He became paranoid and starting literally smelling like a member of a cult that is determined to destroy the world. His first time seeing the killer is Rem so he assumes he has been killed every-time by them.
which leads to a negative feedback loop because he thought he had people who trusted them and in his eye's it looks like they hated him from the beginning.
Also I would like to add that it's hard to watch the protagonist bumble his way through things. What, you're telling me a video game nerd like him took so many loops to figure out he was resetting? I expect most people to get it by the 3rd run and more observant folks would have already considered the possibility by the 2nd. Nobody is asking for a Gary Stu but that kind of blockheadedness is straining belief.
Also the fact that he took so long to realise that maybe it would be a good fucking idea to tell someone about it.
One of these days someone is going to figure out that he's looping since he non-chalantly mindlessly spouts metaknowledge like it's nothing.
I'm guessing Satella can only read his thoughts at the moment.
You sure you aren't just applying viewer knowledge into that conclusion? And I doubt most individuals can simply shrug off their death and realize it's a life rest. It's the same scenario as killing someone in real life and in-game. They're completely different scenarios, but somehow lots of people think it's the same shit. In the end, Subaru did figure it out, so I don't know what's the issue here anyway.
>Also the fact that he took so long to realise that maybe it would be a good fucking idea to tell someone about it.
First of all, he did try explaining his situation, but it didn't work because *spoilers*. Secondly, who would believe him? He'll sound more like a craze fanatic spouting nonsense.
Haifuri and Kabaneri are decent. Kabaneri is just fun stupid shit, Haifuri is basically military otaku's wet dream + GuP. Mayoiga is probably fun as fuck with /a/, probably the most entertaining threads I've seen for years.
Originals are definitely the best. Threads tend to be amazing too.
Because their love is like pottery.
Satella is a Witch and killed and consumed the essences of the other main Witches and now has Seven Witch Essences. Meanwhile, Subaru is helping kill, and then absorbing the essences of the Bishops of the Witch Cult himself and it's now looking like he's going to absorb the Seven Bishop Essences.
there are only three left. Sloth and Greed were killed, Pride's seat is open for recruitment, and they purposely keep Envy's seat empty I think.
The LN? It's still petty far behind the show and manga, but here.
After this Arc ends on Episode 10/11, we go back to the Capital because the Ruler Candidates are meeting up. Turns out that Felt was eligible to be one of them, as she actually had Royal blood in her. Reinhard decided to become her Champion Knight and is now supporting her bid for the throne. >>141635007
I'm talking about why the idea took so long to even hit him. Neither of your counterarguments are relevant.
Only a hardcore videogame nerd would happily unironically spout fucking dark souls memes out loud in public, not to mention his framing of the new world in RPG mechanics. His open nerdiness has been one of the most cringeworthy shit about him so far and yet somehow he doesn't think 'doesn't this look similar to the mechanic of loading saves upon death like my epic LE DORK SOULS LE YOU DIED video game???'
You seem to have skipped >>141623917
His positive personality and geeking out is all a facade that he exerts to hide his stress.
It's pointed out in one of the recent episodes where his palms are sweating like crazy as he's in the library despite having a more relaxed expression on his face.
>he hasn't been spoiled yet
Weak man. How can you enjoy discussion like that. I'm glad I'm the sort of person who can feel the same excitement knowing whether a spoiler is coming or not (unless it's a massive thing that I'll hate)
Obviously. Doesn't matter what the end is, if the entire duration of the story is spent making girls fall in love with him, going on dates with them, and saving them from danger and their "traumas" in a bona-fide fantasy of every internet white knight ever.
Can't you see, we're all in a loop of our own, every thread always start the same where shitposter will come at the start of the thread and will be shot down by spoiler then HURR DURR NO SPOILER till thread is kill. Some anons will get mindbroke from spoiler/shitposting then it starts again in a new thread
>Capital because the Ruler Candidates
ARE YOU READY, BOYS?
Rev up those despair, cuck memes and NTR doujins
I'm fucking killing myself, see you on the other side guys.
Nobody would fucking miss me and I'm a fucking pathetic excuse for a man.
Like civil and criminal law I think there are certain percentages of certainty we need to work with. It's 60% for civil and 90% for criminal. I think you need to be 100% sure in your case. If you have any doubts pussy out.
For the record, if you've noticed he does the arcs of the story in separate manga. Arc 3 has been partially tl by spics because they aren't waiting for arc 2 to sort it's shit out like the eng tl are.
No it couldn't. I have a massive fiction boner for time travel.
It could become a good time travel show, which is high enough praise. People fuck time travel up regularly.
It's the kind of narrative device that's hard to use right but a nightmare to do really well.
He's not that kind of obnoxious person. Notice how he only started doing stupid shit after the third episode. In the beginning he's just super excited. Imagine if you're a shitty neet with no future and then you suddenly transported into the 2D realm.
>I just cannot empathize with his whole breakdown about how much he trusted the rude, murderous, callous maids.
That's why you are still shitposting this in every re:zero thread
It's one of those paradoxal loops. Emilia causing Subaru to endure this hell is what makes her fall in love with him in the first place, which leads to her, as Satella, dragging him into the world and cursing him so that they can be together again.
>WAAAAAA the Author chose to let his story veil over time rather than giving me all of the answers at the beginning.
>WWWAAAAAAA I'm a faggot that fancies himself a critic, but doesn't understand the basics of long term story telling.
>WAAAAAA why don't these people that actually like the show agree with me about how much I THINK the show sucks.
Imagine if the level of support that Kadokawa decided to throw behind this, if they had also thrown behind Antimagic.
Sorry faggot, I'd rather watch him succeed in this than diyng from vegetable twins hands over n over again
You're right my apologies. I just hadn't considered a loop like that paradoxical. It's just acausal. Continuity in causality doesn't constitute contradiction.
So yeah I'm wrong for saying you had the term wrong and I apologise. I do however disagree with calling an acausal loop paradoxical.
A paradoxical loop would be traveling back and shooting yourself in the face meaning that the loop could no longer viably happen thereby creating a paradox in how the loop began.
Given that time can be completely removed or reversed in some physics systems I just don't know how acausal loops are still 'weird' enough to be paradoxical even without an origin. There's no contradiction of logic.
Kek, I for one welcome our new mystic witch overlords. I might like to add I would an excellent bishop if you're looking at the moment.
I WAS liking it a little until the most recent episode. I thought he would have to figure out a way to escape the mansion or outsmart the oni sluts, but nope, he's gonna befriend them and shit.
I can honestly say the only good characters are the library loli and her husbando.
Yeah I'm kind of pissed off he's still stuck in the mansion at this point. Stuff with time loops can't repeat the same time frame too many times or it just gets annoying, especially if you're watching it weekly.
By this points in both novels and manga he's cutting himself. The anime just cleans it up for consumption a bit. You can see in this thread there are already fags bitch about too much suffering, muh gore and so on.
She can read thoughts as a Spirit
Hence why Puck knows Subaru's name in the second arc at all after the first loop where he doesn't introduce himselfand she actually comments on it in the fourth arc.
Satella won't let him tell anyone, however.
To the point that even if he manages to power through the pain and explain the situation, the listener drops dead.
It's not about what he did, it's about the fact that the story is written such that he's still in the mansion, and will be for what I assume is going to be at least another couple episodes.
>Emilia is worst girl
How can anyone think this?
Subaru was out cold until that morning after axe bitch battle, and Puck was asleep until that morning, where Emilia wakes him up on scene for all but the first loop, where Subaru introduces himself to Puck again anyway. If it isn't mind reading, spirits might exist outside the loop and Puck and Betty are just as cursed as Subaru is about explaining the situation.
Her fake laugh in episode 6 was awful.
Also the other white haired half-elf is much better.
It was temporarily because he was acting like a fucking idiot. He deserved it.
She's a candidate for a large political spot. Why would she risk it all for someone she barely knows? You're looking at this from the perspective of someone who has gone through hell and back, but she isn't coming from that perspective at all.
>Why would she risk it all for someone she barely knows
She shouldn't but neither should she have defended him in the OTHER persepctive. She was set up as a certain type of character to us the reader and to subaru and then the author pulls the switcharoo
she isn't bad, just stuck in a show where every other girl is better
and dickare waiting for best girl to take the stage again
Yeah, that's what I said. He deserved it to a large extent, perhaps not as severely as he got though. The issue again is that the author set her up to be unbelievably nice only to have her start acting reasonable then.
And you call that fast? He would be checking his gut every so often if it were fast.
Victimizing is this anime's catch. There's never enough gore when that's the goal.
Not quite, though.
Nobody can be sure he's with Betty the entire time of the previous night, he smells like the witch, and knows his way around the mansion a bit TOO well for someone who did nothing but sit and mope in bed for a full four days.
He broke a promise and made a fool of her in front of royalty and all the important people in the kingdom.
So she has to separate herself from him and they make up a few days later. She's clearly worse girl compared to best girl Rem who straight up murders him a few days after they first meet.
Speaking from pure logic, you're wrong. This is not modern day, USA, 2016. It's Kingless kingdom in who-knows-what era and he's trying to get cose to one of the king's candidate.
>I'm surprised Subaru still cares for Emilia when Betty exists
Subaru has effectively imprinted onto Emilia. She's his constant in an alien world. It's not even love it's dependency, attachment and desperation.
So it's Emilia's fault that she wasn't suspecting him? But it's all her fault when she tells him to temporarily fuck off when he completely embarasses her when she's a candidate for a throne? The fuck? Even if she cared about Rem, there's a huge difference of importance between a maid dying and trying to become a King. Subaru fucking deserved it for acting like a cheeky little shit.
so the first arc was completely useless except for introducing Emilia as some throne candidate?
what a waste
Stop conflating all the posts. I said she had a reasonable reaction to Subaru fucking everything up. That in mind she is narratively and from Subaru loop perspective very much abandoning him. It is accentuated by her overly to the point of weird levels of kindness. An example of which, my post was expanding on.
There is no issue there brother. Emilia said that she was disappointed by Subaru from breaking his promises to her.
She outright stated several promises he broke, and that she called him out and saying that despite his insistence in saying "it's all for Emilia", it's actually all are for Subaru himself.
He snapped and said some hurtful things about how Emilia should owe her big time and shit.
Then Emilia was like "bitch no, girl bye". So, there's no issue there.
She even broke down and said "maybe just maybe, you're the only one in this world that won't treat me "different", that will treat me like a normal girl" or some shit.
Man, Subaru is actually that close to that nice pussy, if only he stayed and not snuck in to the castle. Or not fight with Julius. Or not snap at Emilia.
Yeah he does, especially in Arc 3 before Emilia ditched him. He was acting like a major dick.
He's not lying but you're looking to far into it. Happy end never. The damage is still done and Subaru is distanced from the main cast (sans betty) who can't see or remember Rem
Okay, so the first death in the mansion was due to the shaman's curse.
The third time was because his Witch's scent had grown strong enough that Rem/Ram tracked him down outside of the mansion to kill him. It probably didn't help that he stayed near the mansion instead of leaving like he told them.
What about the second time? Did Rem intend to come into his room to kill him, or did she kill him in self defense because he was heading towards Emilia's room?
I refuse to believe that the kid's gonna only suffer his entire time through the story until we see the ending.
There'd be a point where the suffering would just get stale and nobody would want to follow it due to just how horrible the poor shit's life is getting.
>kill him in self-defense
No she saw Subaru was weakened and took that as an opportunity to end him slowly. If he was at full strength he could've fought her off and got help from someone like Betty since she's always nearby for him.
>There'd be a point where the suffering would just get stale
It depends on your tolerance. The author is expanded the world, so that's getting people distracted. It also brought a "development" scene where Subaru was reminded of his dad and all that.
Nah suffering train choo-choo, the itnerest will slowly shift from him being happy with his lives and the companions who he saves and instead move to unravelling the mystery of Satella directly and how he factors into her plans. Then we'll return to suffering based story for awhile to set up an emotionally agonizing finale
Frankly, she deserves it. She puts him through hell and then sticks her fingers in her ears and says she can't hear him when he talks about how much he's done for her, because of her.
Rem and Ram only act against Subaru when he's caught doing something they consider super shady. In this case, it would be going to Emilia's room in the middle of the night.
They did nothing to him in the first loop, or even the fourth loop (until Rem died anyway).
I mean, they're running out of shit to put him through.
He has a mental parasite slowly driving him bonkers already.
He had his girlfriend break up with him for being a fucking idiot
His only other chance at love are constantly killing him or are just a heavier left hand at this point outside of Emilia.
And it's obvious from the get go Subaru cares the most for halfbreed anyway.
So the one way they could make shit worse is starting to run low.
>fuck up his reputation
>permanently mar him
Otherwise he's just gonna keep getting a reset point of the week until he gets to the end.
Impossible because the LNs aren't even done with Arc 3. Starting episode 10, the anime will start the 3rd Arc, and end it with episode 25. That means they plan to animate the whole arc 3.
So yeah, goodbye Re:Zero after this.
There are tons of reasons to actively dislike Emilia.
The first reason is that she is a really fake person. Even omitting the first loop which may actually be Satella rather than Emilia she is actually rather cold and brings him back to her mansion rather than leaving him in Reinhardt's care because she wants to investigate him.
She always tries to get him to say what is on his mind and acts like it is out of care or compassion but it is really just a cover for her investigation.
The biggest sign that Emilia is not as good as she pretends is what happens when he is attacked by Ram. Emilia does not intervene, attempt to prevent damage to him, or protect him, even though this takes place within Puck's operating hours. She is sidelining. While she will say words in his defense she never rises to the level of action and a part of that could just be that she wants to appear to be on his side so she can get information at a later time by being the "good cop".
My theory is that Emilia/Satella already share the same body. There are several times Subaru says that Emilia is acting out of character. These are usually times where she is exceptionally friendly/loving towards Subaru or seeks him out. During one scene she says "There you go again..." he asks for clarification and then she says "you were just... nevermind." And she walks away. She also always tells him to do his best and offers some kind of reward during these times. I interpret that as Satella trying to encourage him throughout the whole ordeal and keep him going, though she herself is not allowed to talk about the actual circumstances. Also, in Ep3 Emilia says "I only have one family member, he's always asleep at the most important moments, but I would never say that when he's awake. I do not think this line is about Puck, and that is possibly misdirection. It could either be about alternate personalities, or perhaps, Subaru when he is "awake" whatever that means.
Arc 1 was nothing. Arc 2 was child's play. I thought Arc 3 was bad (just finished it earlier today), but some people here said that Arc 4 is where it get's good.
Given how Arc 3 goes, this is a really shit story, or a really good story. Depending on your sexual fetishes.
Well yeah, but that doesn't diminish the fact that he was a major ass when he snap. Should have chill a little bit, masturbate or some shit.
He bottled too much shit up, self-righteous and hubristic in early Arc 3.
>The show will be delayed for 3 weeks because of TENNIS. Which will negate all the hype it garnered for Episode 7.
>Kadokawa bought Yen Press so that this series will have english translations. Also the reason why there are no LN translations in the wild.
>Someone in Kadokawa loves this series for some reason, that they skipped other stories that were higher in rankings and sure to make profit. Instead they somehow ok'd to animate this.3
>mfw the kid in panel 6 was Satella all along.
I mean it even fits. the loli fell in love with him when she was lost. now that's some pure, unadulterated love if I've ever seen one.
It's not confirmed that she's actually Satella, please disregard your headcanon until it's "revealed".
You are fucking retarded as shit.
Yes the WN is the source material. But Kadokawa now publishes this shit so that means the LN now IS the source material. The WN now becomes the idea base. And also by reading the WN there are some fucking retarded ideas there that thankfully the editors fucking fixed for the LN.
Why the FUCK would Kadokawa want to animate FROM THE WN you retarded fuck. There's a reason why after getting some licensing, the author takes down the WN page for his story you goddamn fucking stupid shit.
The problem is that Crunchyroll is partnered with TV Tokyo which is what usually broadcasts it, so they can't put out their subbed version until after it airs on TV Tokyo originally, so even if it does air on another channel the best we'd get are fansubs.
>Because the real world doesn't work that way.
There is a thing called a schedule for it. And the schedule is worked around months before even airing the show.
Now I understand what you'll say, "but what about this abrupt tennis shit? this was not planned months ago, why is it getting priority now?"
Simply because in the end, the studio is a slave to the broadcasting network. The only reason Tennis became fucking relevant in the past few weeks for the elevens because a Japanese player right now is doing well there. If it wasn't for him, there would have been no delays at all.
>the author takes down the WN page for his story
That happens when the publisher doesn't want people to get the free read and forces the author to shut down the WN. And there has been precedence for the anime to adapt from the WN instead, but oh wait, you wouldn't know that, would you? You goddamn fucking stupid shit.
>But Re:Zero's author is based and keeps updating the WN, free of the filthy editor's influence. We can see it raw and unfiltered, the way it should have been.
Of course he will like I said it becomes his idea base. He should do that. Frankly it's good that Kadokawa let him still do that. Because other authors don't. And no, raw WNs are stupid. There are things there that just don't work and seriously, don't make sense. That's the reason why there are editors.
>And there has been precedence for the anime to adapt from the WN instead, but oh wait, you wouldn't know that, would you?
Like I said you fucking mongoloid. Why the fuck would Kadokawa fucking do that you goddamn ingrate. Holy shit you really are an imbecil. It's like you're saying Kadokawa shouldn't monetize what they fucking own. You are an embarrassment for not even thinking about business you blue-ball cunt.
>And no, raw WNs are stupid. There are things there that just don't work and seriously, don't make sense. That's the reason why there are editors.
''Editors'' are just The Man tearing down great ideas for capitalist pigs to consume.
Someone posted here the differences between the WN and LN and the changes are for the better because of how stupid the ideas were. It was an obvious draft. It's like the author and editor were using the readers of the WN to gauge which of the ideas were stupid or not.
if re zero was a VN how would you get into her route?
Not only do you not know how to spell imbecile (which is extremely ironic considering you called someone else an imbecile), but you don't seem to know what the word ingrate means. And no, it's nowhere near saying "Kadokawa shouldn't monetize what they fucking own". It's in fact saying the opposite, do you by chance have Down Syndrome?
I am in fact thinking about the business involved retard. Remember all those extremely popular series that didn't get a second season? Or that got a second season ~5 years later and absolutely flopped even though its fanbase at was massive back when the first season aired and begged for a second season? (Durarara being a prime such example) If a series is profitable, you make a second season within ~2 years or else you waste most of the profitability of a second season at all. And by current estimates, Re:Zero is going to be one of the top sellers of the season. So unless Kadokawa is willing to completely throw away all future Re:Zero anime profit (which is possible judging by No Game No Life).
Of course there are a few exceptions, mainly being if the series happens to become some super legendary classic that gets rebooted in twenty years.
GODDAMN IT JAPAN
reminder that glorifying suicide is not cool
I am fucking ready for the NTR dojuins.
JUST FUCK ME UP SENPAI
The fuck? I thought this series was a harem
You thought wrong.
I think you do not understand just how low quality the WN is and the purpose of editing.
There are monologues that are redundant and add nothing to the story. There are stupid scenes like adding a wolf attack out of nowhere on Subaru's way to the cliff (that Betty then heals him from, so any consequences of it are immediately gone). There is so much garbage, junk, and bad ideas that are pursued that the work will only benefit by cutting them.
An editor is like a coach, they help you keep what is good in your work and make it stronger and identify your blind spots. I have never had a work of mine suffer for editing and I always learn more about my own work by having it reviewed.
When you do not quality control, you get absolutely stupid shit like Mushoku Tensai where the story just gets incredibly stupid and wasteful. Where the writer is influenced by some manga/anime/vn and starts ripping it off. Where it strays into wish fulfillment or pointless scenes, or attempts to add excitement that are just stupid.
His WN absolutely needs editing. There is a good story in there, and the anime has done a great job of telling it.
You came into the wrong series my boy.
he should just had run straight to the bonfire
my theory is that Satella is Actually Emilia , but at some point Satella used some fearful magic to bring the love she never had to protect her with a ability far beyond everything in her world, being actually unable to take part of his "revivals" but only knowing that he is the one that is supposed to serve her as her Lieutenant and love in her quest for the throne.
actually the bonfire is a shit way couse probably the magic would lead him to die for not saving Satella
In a way, I sorta wished it was. This series isn't good for the heart.
