You know, we do have a manga and anime, both based on that outline, with some significant differences between them at times when looking at specific details, but also some parts that are nearly identical and also overall plot similarities.

The anime is the primary medium now. The manga is a different telling, and Toriyama is happy to see a young and eager mangaka make his own version. I don't see an issue with Toyotaro asking and Toriyama letting him change it up.

Yeah, but by the end of Z Goten and Trunks grew more detached to martial arts. Both skips training in favor of different interests (like dating with Goten) and are more or less forced by their dad to join the Tenkachi Budokai.

Of course there's extenuating reasons: they leave in an era of peace again with no threat on the horizon. They're not full-blood Saiyans who only think of fighting and training. And they're teens, so I guess it's normal to want something more than just train all day every day like their dads.

For Bra, well, she's younger than Pan and Bulma thought Pan was maybe too young to compete in the tournament. So maybe she isn't trained yet.
