There are pairings I like, but I don't ship any characters myself. I can definitely understand femdom involving Annie being a thing. Bertolt was certainly gentle enough for that too, I'm not so sure now though.

I think the whole Jean Hitch thing is a bit of a stretch, but based on how the characters look and their personalities, I can see the appeal.

Erwin and Levi just seems silly to me. I've seen the big man and small man thing time and time again, and it can work sometimes. But they just don't seem like two characters that would ever be together, fan shipped or otherwise.

Personally I'm not big into shipping either, but there's no other way to make it work in fanworks unless it's faceless men. And I'm not really one to self insert so I don't like the character/reader stuff.

So take it as you like, personally I like BA for the femdom appeal but the choice is up to you. Others are Bertolt/Reiner or Erwin/Levi and Ymir/Historia, but that's mostly because of their dynamics and angst involved, rather than the sex appeal.

A lot of the stuff I do for people is self insert, typically under a name they've made for themselves. It makes some things a bit tricky though, when you have two established characters then a story can flow. If you have one character and one inserted reader, then you need to know what the reader wants and how they want it. It limits things.

I like Annie as a character and Bertolt is getting more interesting, so that's something I wouldn't mind seeing more of.

Personally I like Bertolt a lot for fanworks, he has a lot of potential to work with because of his contrasting role and personality. But then again I read the manga 3 times so far so I took time to look into the character and notice things that I missed during my first read.
BA has grown on me but maybe it needs some more focus in the manga first, I see Bert as the kind of guy that would sacrifice his happiness for her if he had to.

I think he would, assuming the mission was over. Bert doesn't have any aspirations in life and is mostly a tool, either by completing the mission, or devoting himself to other people. Even with his hometown, he only brings it up to motivate Reiner, since Reiner wants to go back.

So I think if the mission was over, his life would be pointless to him, especially if the people he cares about were to die, so he'd give his life for them if he could. Isayama even posted a song for him that implies he's suicidal and wants to get done with it.

But as it stands, with Zeke seemingly in retreat, Bertolt is still in the game. Someone here mentioned Bertold needing to kill Reiner because he had turned feral or something like that. Moments like this would be great to give Bertolt some much needed depth.

He has a lot of implied character at the minute, through his past actions and the things he caused. But nothing comes to mind that Bertolt actively did recently outside of what's happening in Shinganshina right now. I think this is the point where Bertolt is going to become much more interesting.

I like it. It's the cliche person protects the other except the roles are reversed so it's actually unique. Eren's always resented Mikasa for being overprotective and in turn felt inferior, but after going through development he learns to accept it. Mikasa after seeing Eren can protect himself and her learns to let him be more independent. I like their relationship whether familial or romantic.

Isayama said in a Q&A that between a CT/AT battle, AT would win because of their personalities, but now I'm not so sure. I mean he still exploded even though he knew he was putting Reiner's life in danger, but then again if he didn't explode both would die.

Personally what I want to see the most is his thoughts about his actions and how he copes with it. It's already implied he has constant nightmares and Isayama could exploit it for some great scenes like pic related.

That may be the case, but Bertold is likely strong enough to breach an underground chamber should he feel so inclined. And with Annie safely encased, it seems like a viable plan. Although, so far as I'm aware, he does't know that she is currently crystallised.

But iirc, Zeke specifically said that Reiner had failed and that he would need to hand in his armour. This leads me to believe that if they do escape this fight, Reiner is in more trouble than Bertold. Because of this, I assume that Reiner was the leader of their incursion.

Looks like that got settled in chapter 78 after he saw Reiner. He hasn't sweated a drop and he's on a roll since that moment.
