How do you guys feel about where the series will inevitably head? There hasn't really been any huge problems for Nazarick since Volume 3. Do you think they'll actually end up introducing another Player Character from Ygg as opposition? Or will they rely on the world that is already established?

I've seen it thrown around that someone like Touch Me could return (though I can only imagine it being thoroughly convoluted) and cause a division in the ranks in Nazarick, since someone like Sebas would most certainly probably join him, for instance. Personally though I don't really like the idea of that all, but I don't know what else would really cause huge trouble for Nazarick, other than their own inner circle fighting amongst each other.

Most stories do eventually put the protagonist in a position of lowest point, and the build up of the volumes feels like it might be creating a feeling of security only to crush it later on. Though whether or not it has anything to do with power levels and fights is kind of up in the air. The most interesting thing about Overlord isn't the fights, but the politicking and scheming.

But, uh, who knows. I can see it turning out well either way, really. The other characters in the new world are just as interesting to follow as the Nazarick characters, in my opinion. I can see the conflict primarily focusing on them and I would probably be satisfied with it.

I'm kind of getting annoyed at the oh how amazing they are, especially because the story and the world are both so extremely interesting.

How power works is interesting, they are tacking political intrigue well, we are living in a time of legendary people, he's even tackling theoretical societal issues in a magic world such as using undead as mass labor.

The story would need to introduce an army of level 100 players to make an opposition to Nazarick. If someone ever shows up, it will most certainly be the ninth. The NPCs surely will get jealous of him/her because Ainz will most certainly give more attention to his old companion than them. Bonus points if it's a girl for Albedo and Shalttear suffering. How would the NPCs react if Ainz informs them that the ninth is also a Supreme Being? Would they respect him like Ainz?

The other continents most certainly won't be much stronger than the current one. The Dragon Lords were once the rulers of the world and most of them were killed by the hands of the 8GK. Passable, fan translations were nowhere near as good as Sky/Nigel/etc so it was an appropriate alternative.

Which everyone hated. The fact that they plastered 3DPD onto the covers trying to sell light novels aimed at weebs is pretty telling how white washed YP is.

Only stuff I still get from them is manga, and that's mainly for drawing quality. But then again I am one of the few who bought NGNL when it was released, so you should understand why I am still bitter to this day.

I don't know about that, I've read enough MTL translations in chink to know some basic words like the numbers 1-10 (not even 0) and it seems pretty fucking hard considering there's not a lot of competition unless you count places like wuxiaworld or whatever, but they all seem a bit shady and only pump out chapters when donations come along.

I think Viz is probably the most experienced translators, mainly cause they just hire the fan community, like Stephen and CCC. But that's only for weekly manga, and shonen at that. It's definitely simple shit compared to the likes of Overlord which is apparently more complicated than 99% of all currently licensed LN unless someone took up Horizon or Youjo Senki when I wasn't looking. Well even then, Viz kinda puts a lot of red tape on their guys, just compare CCC or Stephen's works before and after. It's that language barrier, where Japanese are more casual with 'swearing' so to speak and are more colorful, but I think it's that way in Chinese too. Their swears and cusses have more 'meaning' instead of just a forgotten reference to something in general.

On the subject of translations, am I the only person who thinks the sillier a series, the less it's impacted by machine translations and can sometimes even benefit inadvertently? Examples include:

>My Father-in-law is Lu Bu: Abominable!

The broken English somehow just cracks me up when I imagine the characters actually talking like that you know? The more a guilty pleasure a series is, and the less you care about seriousness, the more appeal there is in what's practically a meme translation.

But then again I'm one of the few who thinks Niggerstream is amusing for Bleach, and only Bleach cause their niggerspeak fits the character expressions and retarded attitudes.

None of this actually applies to Overlord mind you.

You referring to how the Japanese use English names for fantasy? Cause that tradition dates back all the way to Record of Lodoss Wars if not even farther sorry. I mean you have Parn, Deedlit, Cashew, Assram, Prostitress, and Spark. The boss dragon is called fucking Shooting Star for god's sake, no wonder even Parn the eternal failure rolled a twenty when he shot a ballista for the first time in his life and hit the bullseye.

I mean Fire Emblem kinda did it better, but it still has some pretty pathetic names, and anything made by Tomino is guaranteed to be crazy.

Maruyama's Overlord is rooted in D&D so going back to that old school naming style of the Japanese community is appropriate no matter how you look at it.

The only oldfag Japanese writer who had passable English names is probably Tanaka, but then again he has a whole lot of other issues ranging from shoe boxes in space shooting each other in rows to people using axes and not just spamming repeating crossbows during ship on board combat.
