If you're going to try to bait, at least say something that could imaginably be applicable to her. Call her a fake, an airhead, mentally retarded, something like that. Calling her whiny when she's 80% of what makes the first 20 hours of the game fun makes no sense, and calling her edgy when literally any of the other 4 heroines exist is so out of place that it's just funny.

I am selfish. Since the second one is "I'll wait for you" instead of "goodbye forever" I'm fine with that. It works things out on its own. If I can help it though, I'd ask my waifu to stay with me. If I ask her to stay and she says no that means she values that more than me, so there's nothing I can do about that, that's fine. That's why I say "depends", because this isn't specific enough. I don't know if saying "stay with me" binds her to me for the rest of my life without her consent. If it did, I wouldn't say it.

Same with the second. What was the crime? Did she kill someone? Did she steal something of minor value? Are the police looking for the criminal? Why did she do it? I'm not going to make her confess for taking a pen out of a store or something, if she won't get caught for it that's dumb.

Nothing wrong with wanting the things that make you happy. I want to die satisfied, not regretting that I gave everything up for other peoples' sakes.

>not your child
>Piece of shit

I said it doesn't depend for that last one. Child comes first, I'd save the kid no matter what.
>>
>>141241686
>she's 80% of what makes the first 20 hours of the game fun makes no sense

Yeah, no. She was just the butt end of jokes and only autists would find her retardation "fun".

>calling her edgy when literally any of the other 4 heroines exist is so out of place that it's just funny

Except the other heriones actually had good reason for acting the way the did. Her route literally went like this

-hey yuuji, i'm not a complete retard afterall. i can totally be deep and edgy
-hey yuuji, let's play a game of pretend, since i'm retarded and all
-hey, my cat died. probably figured it would be better to die than put up with me
-i was born retarded, my parents hate me for it, and my whore friend killed herself. super sad.
-holy shit, yuuji's actually helping me die after i wouldn't stop bitching about it every 5 seconds. everyone is so sad, guess i didn't want to die afterall. i'm such a fucking retard.
-hey edgy spirit, let's be best friends forever. totally super awesome xD.

Her route is garbage. That doesn't change the fact that her being the butt of jokes makes her important just like the rest of the cast. Everyone has a dynamic with eachother, and she fits hers and completes the circle of friends in a way that would make everything feel like there's something missing if she wasn't there.

Hell, that was kind of the entire point of the latter part of her route now that I'm thinking about it.

'Right' is a polysemy in that it can refer to both 'correct' and 'politically conservative', and what makes the phrasing funny is that if you assume she means the latter, then anyone would agree that 'homosexuality isn't right'.

Normally someone would say that it's wrong, but the negative inflection could have been deliberately used.

Either that, or I'm reading too far into a lucky coincidence.

In the grand scheme of things, the good done by the major organized Abrahamist religions far, far outweighs the bad. We can thank the Torah and the New Testament for basically all of civilized society and development as we know it. Look at the people who renounce those principles like on the extreme left. They have no moral compass and it's utter insanity. Whether you believe in the magic sky daddy or not, denouncing religion and all the good it has done is just being edgy.
>>
>>141245844
>recognizing the evil effect of religion is fedora tier
It's not that. It's failing to distinguish between good and bad religions, and/or failing to recognise the evil effects of ideologies the second they're no longer strictly classified as religions. That's fedora-tier.

>>
>>141240646
> It's not some pointlessly edgy bollocks
but that's exactly what it is. This is essentially asking why you learn things. It's poorly thought out question. The answer is simple
"why do we need an explanation" because that's how we understand the world around us to better navigate it.

I can't imagine going through life without a yearning to understand things, if you don't have this basic human need you might as well not even be self-aware.
>>
>>141246431
The wording of the question is important, if you change it, it is obviously much easier to answer. If you go into an out of context thread, what practical difference does it make if you find out the context of the things that are posted there?
>>
>>141246491
I did not change the the question. Obviously since the situation in that scene was not fully convey with one picture, I'm taking it at face value and the OP posted it without any other context so i'm assuming the message he's trying to convey is exactly as the picture seems.

She asks him why he needs an explanation for everything, and that is about as dumb as asking why you seek truth.
>>
>>141246666
The word "need" is the important one anon. You don't by any means need to explain everything that makes you curious. It is not questioning a desire for explanations in general, it is questioning a need for it in every situation.

>>141246431
The question in the image is:
Do you really need an explanation for everything?

You then answered the question 'why do we need an explanation', which is a completely different question in every respect. You changed 'you' to 'we'. You added 'why' to shift the emphasis away from personal implication to bland philosophising. You then removed the most important part of the question and the one thing that gave a hint of its context which was 'for everything'.

The whole point of the original question is to confront someone with the realisation that there are going to be mysteries in their life that will remain unsolved and unsolvable, and that they're going to learn to cope with that. It's not essentially asking why you learn things. It's not asking 'why' at all. Of course a question is going to seem like bollocks when you deliberately misinterpret it.

I'll assume you know the whole conversation and can make that assumption
> it is questioning a need for it in every situation.

I understand the futility in needing to know everything in a literal sense, but I thought she was using that a hyperbole. If the character does have a overly inquisitive nature I can see that being aggravating and would understand why she asks that but I don't know this VN.

In my defense the faggot OP shouldn't have posted it without more context if they wanted it interpreted some other way then her asking what seems to be an ill-conceived or at least one that someone with an incredibly defeatists, pessimistic outlook would ask. either are annoying
>>
>>141247042
Why would you assume a quote in a thread about quotes that provoke thought, in a post that specifically says the quote is not pointlessly edgy bollocks, is such an easily answered question that any idiot could answer by asking what you should do when touching a hot stove?
>>
>>141247042
>In my defense the faggot OP shouldn't have posted it without more context if they wanted it interpreted some other way
It was posted with three sentences of context which make the intention of the question clear. Context which you ignored because you had pre-emptively judged the question to be 'edgy bollocks' and decided that it was beneath you to even quote word-for-word. It speaks volumes that you're the only person in this thread who ever misinterpreted it.

No.. it just means homosexuality is wrong. Total acceptance of homosexuality in society is the path to degeneracy, which will lead further down the hole, with next being transgender/transsexual acceptance and then to pedophilia.

All of these should be treated as mental disorders. To be sexually attracted to the same sex is and should be a mental disorder, and goes against the very nature of existence: you can't make a baby to further the continuation of our species. Moreover, the denial of one's sex of the one given to them is a sever mental disorder and should be treated as such.

What she said is right, the guy needs more self-confidence. Some of the things he said were truths he couldn't change like the height and looks but he could have said some good things.

That's a shame. My moonrune-reading skills aren't able to handle a VN, so I'm stuck with the English version. I still doubt the translation would make the scene where Makina beats up Michiru any less rage-inducing though.

You're coming from the perspective that he isn't actually worthless. Whether he is or not isn't terribly relevant, the fact is that as an individual who believes he will have zero positive impact on her life, he still tries to get her to date him. That shows a truly despicable level of selfishness. A romantic partner is not a trivial choice, the vast majority of people enter a relationship with at least the very distant hope of spending all or most of their life with that person. Back to the point of assuming he is wrong about being worthless, the fact is there are human beings on this planet who are absolute scum. There are individuals who contribute no good works to society, who do nothing but drain resources and hurt others. If someone honestly believes they are worthless, it is far from unjust to take them at their word.

Talking yourself down, unnecessary self-deprecation, pointing out your flaws -- these are things that aren't attractive to the opposite sex.

Biologically speaking, women have much more they have to invest into a relationship -- why would they choose a mate who is so inferior and lacking?

I see this self-sabotaging move done by guy's alot, and I truly don't understand it. It's not charming, it's not funny, it's simply makes people pity you -- and pity is not a good mating strategy.

I can't help but come to the conclusion that this move is duplicitous and skeevy, that subconsciously pointing out their faults will make the girl feel bad, thus make them sympathize care about them.

I don't want to use this word, but, only a beta too much in his own head, too self-centered, and possibly autistic would thinkg this unseemly angle would have any other result.

Please stop doing this shit. You're not Louie CK -- if you want to be self-deprecating learn comedic timing and have a bunch of success and money, or else you're literally just shooting yourself in the foot.

I assume it's basically just guys who have problems with insecurity become obsessed with those, and either don't even think about how they come off to others, or are consciously or not, deliberately presenting their worst qualities basically just because it hurts less if it comes from themself than if they hear it from others.

Maybe their whole life they've been a drain and maybe they feel like shit everyday and treat others the same, but does that mean that nobody can ever learn to be a better person? That nobody is worth more than the mistakes they've made, and nobody can change?

You can't just expect someone to be nice to you just because you're unhappy. Being understanding is good, but if you visit harm on others they have every right to respond in kind. You do not have a right to kindness. Expecting others to take your situation into consideration even as you fail to do so for them is lunacy. There is exactly one person each of us is in control of, and that is ourselves. If you behave poorly towards others, you have no right whatsoever to complain when they respond in an appropriate manner. If your actions invite others to be cruel to you, you suffer it in silence and revise your behavior to avoid similar responses in the future.

I don't know how you've become this way, but this resentment and vitriol you seem to have for those who aren't sympathetic to your feelings is misguided, and unhealthy.

The truth is no one gives a fuck about your feelings, you have to earn that with people for them to care about you, and being whiny in an unflattering way will only push people away.
>>
>>141248628
You shouldn't expect any of this, but that doesn't mean nobody should do it. You should be nice to others, even if they haven't been nice to you. Even murderers get a last meal. And in this situation, this guy wasn't fucking stabbing her with a knife or anything, he was the one setting himself up to be hurt if anything. Responding with nothing but coldness is an uncalled for response.

>>141248686
Where you've gotten this idea that basic human kindness and deceny has no place in the real world is a mystery to me. Truth is, there are quite a few people in most people's life that DO care about how you feel. Even if that less empaty towards men thing is true, that doesn't mean you have to be less empathetic. I understand that not everyone is kind and sympathetic, and not everyone does everything with the best intentions, but I believe that you shouldn't respond with hatred in return. You need thick skin to survive but you can't steel plate your heart either or else you'll end up just as cold as the people who made you thicken your skin in the first place.

What I want to advocate here is basic human kindness and decency. I don't think hoping for kindness should be a wrong thing, and I know that's not the world we live in, but maybe if more people were kind to each other it'd be easier for everyone to open their hearts. I don't think we have to live in a cold world.

what the fuck are you talking about? the picture shows a guy admitting that he's too much of a loser for a cute girl like her, and recieving an honest response.

Your reaction to this was " that cold hearted bitch "

Your attempt at getting some moral high ground here by arguing this straw man:
>this idea that basic human kindness and deceny has no place in the real world is a mystery to me
has me worried that you're either too diluted or too stupid to understand how your line of thinking is wrong.

>there are quite a few people in most people's life that DO care about how you feel.
Yes, people in your life do, but they know you and you already have a relationship with them...
those people aren't the people you ask out on a date, or to be your friend, etc, If you ever want to make new friends, form new relationships you can't have these expectations

you think that someone who's insecure is entitled to a response that takes the persons feelings into consideration, and i'm saying that is incorrect way of thinking because people don't have to cater to you. that is misguided and selfish.
>but I believe that you shouldn't respond with hatred in return.
sure, some people are nicer than others, but if someone gives you an honesty dose of reality, that does not make them a bad person, especially if they don't know your or have to care about how your relationship with them will be afterwards.

>What I want to advocate here is basic human kindness and decency.
what you're advocating is that the world coddle you
>I don't think hoping for kindness should be a wrong thing
it's not, but don't think you deserve it or that it is some right.

The open empathy you speak of leads to emotional exhaustion, which is a breeding ground for cynical thinking and spiteful action. Get this through your head: the only thing other people inherently owe you, or each other for that matter, is a non-hostile attitude. You change that by your own actions, and trying to manipulate others' emotions for your own fulfillment is deserving of a hostile reaction.

I can't articulate it 100% at the moment but basically it's a strategy not to get hurt. Insteade of being vulnerable, which means dealing with uncertainty in relationships, people choose to numb themselves by going all out in showcasing their flows.

Going for it even though there is a possibility of failure is courageous and attractive. Saying all your insecurities so that there will be no possibility of unknown is a weak move and unattracitve.

I think the point is that our consumption imposes opportunity costs on others. When I eat an apple, then that same apple cannot be eaten by anybody else. This may seem harmless when we only consider an apple, but it ultimately means that our existence bereaves potential creatures of their very existence. The land and resources on this planet can only support a certain amount of living organism. Those who do in fact live take away the possibility to live for all those who could live in their stead. If we assume that it is sinful to take a life, then all life is sinful.

Yeah but the new atheists aren't offering anything positive. They simply hate those that have earned positions of respect through piety - and by extension, they hate the organizational structures that form around these people. Atheists want to tear down these structures without even giving a thought as to what can effectively replace them.

Most atheists seem to suffer from the tall poppy syndrome. Luckily, many of them eventually grow out of it when puberty is over. I also read books by Richard Bawwkins and thought that I was smarter than anybody around me. I turn red from shame when I remember those days, but I guess most of us did something embarrassing when we were young.

Why can't you accept religion is a relic of the past, and the product of poorness. Look at the map, atheism grows in developped countries, when the poorest countries on earth are the most religious (ghana, afghanistan, etc).

Even in the US, iirc, atheism had a bigger growth than the religions those last years. You don't need religion when you're educated, because good behaviors, and social beliefs can also be implemented through education without need of a magical wizard

Suppose three friends, Abel, Heroth and Indrim, are trapped somewhere with limited resources. It is obvious to them that the resources can only keep one person alive long enough to get rescued. Abel tells the other two that he has grown very fond of them. He also points out that, unlike Heroth, he doesn't have a family to take care of. Overall, Abel concludes, he values a world with Heroth and Indrim in it more than his own life. Abel then commits suicide.

This leaves Heroth and Indrim. Neither of the two is willing to die so they fight. Indrim is victorious and kills Heroth. Eventually, Indrim is rescued.

How would you evaluate the three people? To me, Abel was the most virtuous. Although the actions of Heroth and Indrim were understandable, it's fair to say that they were not as virtuous as Abel's. Indrim killed his friend to stay alive. This makes Indrim a sinner. His sin is understandable, but a sin nevertheless.

this is assuming far too much based on not enough information

if religious or spiritual tendencies decline in a population it is typically because of a simple surge in secular culture which is especially the case for somewhere like the US
the lifestyle of the average person living in a decently populated area has simply become so fast paced and complex that spiritualism falls by the wayside

but increased secularity is not in at all a product of increased wealth
in fact it only seems to reason that people who have little money in such a secular society would only covet money and possesions even more

I fear that the rise of atheism will spread moral egoism. Ethics require us to go beyond a personal point of view to the standpoint of an impartial spectator. Looking at things ethically is a way of transcending our inward-looking concerns and identifying ourselves with the most objective point of view possible - with, as Sidgwick put it, "the point of view of the universe." The masses need an easy to understand and intuitive illustration of this. Telling them that there truly is a god who serves as the supreme impartial spectator of the universe is the most straightforward way to make them behave like they should.

It's not that simple. You need people to understand, as you said, why they should behave like this, and ethics is a good solution. Telling them to do it because God says so is dangerous because they have no reasoning of it and you will need to keep the ideology intact, and thus needing to deal with the dissident people. History shows it for every dogmatic religion or ideology

So you don't admire people who sacrifice their lives for the sake of others?

Or let me put it another way: what do you think of the Soma addicts in Huxley's Brave New World who say "was and will make me ill, I take a gramme and only am"? Do you respect people who aren't concerned about the future? Do you think that the behavior of the grasshopper in the tale of the Ant and the Grasshopper is commendable? I don't think so. Most of us believe that it's prudent to make certain sacrifices in order to benefit our future-selves. However, our future-selves are technically not us. After a few years, not a single atom in our body remained the same and our state of consciousness drastically changed. So if we think that sacrifices for our future-selves, whose existence we value due to the knowledge we have about ourselves, are both prudent and virtuous, then this implies that sacrifices for others who we know enough about to value highly are also prudent and virtuous.

Furthermore, the man who sacrificed himself left the world no benefit. Be concerned about the future, but be concerned in a way with actual benefit. Fight off your muggers, shoot the man running at you with a knife, keep the wealth you amassed and pass it down to your offspring rather than giving it all away to various unimportant charities.
I don't admire people who sacrifice their own lives to be virtuous without taking into account the virtue of those they are sacrificing for. Don't trade a saint for a murderer, essentially.

When people start to believe that all opinions are equal, that their intuition is as good as anybody else's, they become highly susceptible to nonsense. Few impressed by the idea of a hypothetical god-like observer. If, on the other hand, you teach them right from the cradle that there truly is such a being, most will appreciate that their petty selfish concerns are nothing compared to its judgements. Theism is very popular. The ideal observer theory is not.

What kind of faggot shit is that? Nobody believes that. Nobody gives the kid insisting that 2+2=5 a pat on the back and a "You're an individual!" pin, they give the person an F and make them do more homework. Disbelief in a god does not mean you believe in a complete lack of an objective reality.

We can agree on not supporting charities, but inheritance is one of the great injustices in this world. Many people these days understand that political power should not be inherited. Being the son of a good king does not imply that you will be a good king as well, or that there isn't somebody more qualified for that position than you are. We understand this simple truth when it comes to political power, so why shouldn't the same be true for economic power? Capitalism would resemble an actual meritocracy a lot more if we got rid of all heirship.

>no inheritance
That makes it pointless to really go above and beyond. Why amass wealth if you can't make life a little better for your children? Climbing the status ladder is a relay race, not a 100m sprint. Sure, some people get to the top in a single generation, but there is value in successive generations continuing to climb. If nothing more than as a goal. You might have an argument with multi-billion fortunes (although in an ideal world this would be solved by LARGE amounts of children splitting the inheritance, because at that point you have every reason to breed harder and faster than the most lecherous monarch), but other than that you've robbed the economic climb of a very important purpose. Very few geniuses are born, but the steady climb of the above average is enabled with inheritance.

Perhaps.

Well, there are hard-working people who have no desire to procreate. Social status and old-age provisions are possible incentives.

>Sure, some people get to the top in a single generation, but there is value in successive generations continuing to climb.

It would be more fair if everybody started climbing from the same height.

>Very few geniuses are born, but the steady climb of the above average is enabled with inheritance.

Why do we need it? We could instead improve society as a whole by providing more opportunities that enable ambitious and talented young people to climb faster than the those in the previous generation.

Not to the parents who you would actually have to somehow prevent spending any money on their children beyond some allotted number. Otherwise they could just pass down inheritance through assets. Unless you want someone to step in and seize everything owned by the child upon the parents death. That'll level the playing field alright. Not to mention the problem that if the child has some expensive medical disorder or another the parent would actually have to let them die because "Some other parents might not have been able to pay for it". Ultimately, nothing is fair and you had better believe I want humans with my genetic material doing better than others without my genetic material, because I am a biological being with an instinct to do so.
>why do we need it
Because I would stop at a bachelors if I knew none of the excess money I made would make any difference to anyone down the line. A person can live relatively luxuriously with smart budgeting and a 50k income, with their needs taken care of for the rest of their life. But I want to die with more money than I came in with, so I can ensure a better future for my children and ONLY my children. I happen to like leaving a legacy that is more stable than just "Well the kid has the genes to be smart, that's for sure".

In any event, there are hard-working people right now who don't want to have any children. Some simply have a passion for their work, others may like to brag about their fortune. Whatever the reason, we don't have to worry about rampant apathy.

Even those who only work for the sake of their children have an incentive to do so in a society without inheritance. By working harder, they can benefit society as a whole, thus improving the situation of all children including their own.

>I'm gonna need that 100 million just in case

I don't think anybody truly earns such large amounts of money. They're able to accumulate it precisely because the system is rigged.

By the way, what's wrong with people only working for the things they need? I'm not a fan of extremely wasteful lifestyles.

>Not to the parents who you would actually have to somehow prevent spending any money on their children beyond some allotted number. Otherwise they could just pass down inheritance through assets.

This is an argument of implementation, not an argument of merit. I agree that it's difficult to implement such a policy, but that doesn't actually have relevance to the main subject of banning inheritence because of its inherent injustice.

>I want humans with my genetic material doing better than others without my genetic material, because I am a biological being with an instinct to do so.

And most kings presumably want their children to succeed them, but that didn't stop people from putting an end to this practice. Just because you personally want something doesn't mean that others have to accept its undue consequences.

Atheism quickly gives way to subversive ideology, whether it's Equality-worship, Dictator-worship or some other kind doesn't really matter. In formerly Christian countries, atheism leads to progressivism then Islam. Far from 'making religion obsolete', it often leads to fundamentalism.

>And it's kinda ironic you talk about refugees because it's precisely their religion which is the main problem.
No it isn't. We all know that Muslims support the rape and murder of anyone who isn't in their club, and modern Christian Europe hadn't have a problem with that for a good century. Wanna know why? Because they didn't casually let Muslims invade them.

Now a certain religion (read: ideology) is letting Muslims into Europe en masse, and it's only the nationalistic countries proud of their Christian heritage who have the sense to lock up their borders. Muslims aren't a problem unless you let them invade you.

>If they were less obtuse and religious we, in Europe, would have less trouble to deal with them.
If Europe wasn't embarrassed about its identity then you'd have no trouble to deal with, because they wouldn't have been let in.

>Either way, thanks to that and the crysis, we will probably witness (we already do in fact) a rise of far right nationalisms who will want to deal with those filthy invaders.

I'd laugh if it wasn't so sad. Well let's see.

First those refugees are not "welcomed" as you seem to think. Sure Germany tried to be exemplary and took in more than one million but they soon realized their mistake and don't do it anymore. A lot of countries have now closed their borders and they're mostly contained in the border countries (Italy and Greece). There's now an accord with Turkey to give them money so they don't let them go as they will towards Greece.

Also France is a bad exemple because there are very few refugees going there. Most want to go to Germany or UK.

Secondly, I know it may seem strange to you, but those people are not invaders as you claim it as a proud defenser of the Christianity, they, for most, flee one the bloodiest modern conflict of those last decades. Conflict, I'll say it again, where the US are one of the first responsible of the chain of events which lead to this.

Thirdly, the tensions are growing and those people will be probably expulsed for the most part, and if it doesn't get better in the next years, they will get the stick. Either from the traditional governments trying to react, or more reactionnary new parties.

I don't like muslims, I find them backwards, too dogmatic and contradictory to the western values. BUT most of them flee war. Europe already saw a similar wave of immigration in the previous century, with a lot of eastern europeans going to the west. They were not seen very well, racism was frequent, but with the time it became better.

Now is different I agree, the culture gap is wider and it's more complicated. But we can still try to let some of them in to see what's going to happen.

What you describe is funny because it's typically a reaction of fear and weakness, and has nothing to do with atheism or anything. They're a weak minority, if they don't behave they will suffer
>>
>>141257503

Also UK don't take refugees. The muslim population they have the most problems with are the pakis, because they have a tradition of taking old dominions people as other ex colonial powers. But they failed their integration, told themselves it was ok to let them be this way and let them behave as if they were at home. More than 1400 british girls raped and the police covered it. Shameful, but it has nothing to with atheism. We talk about UK after all
>>
>>141258178
i think the best way to handle this kind of immigration is to make an agreement that they have no freedom of movement and then have the government pretty much place them far apart from each other so you dont have these insular communities and they are forced to integrate.

I think irrealism is a normal logical move in the context of mass education and modern science. Moral "facts" just don't match up to higher standards for facts about the world. But that's different from them saying murderers should all go free. The new challenge is encouraging a moral culture when you can't use the old shtick.

Yeah. Communitarianism is the real danger. You need to have infrastructures to deal with them, or they will rely on their diaspora as a way to live, for jobs, for relationships, cutting themselves from society.

Asians do this but don't cause problems because they only think about the business, they're like this. Muslims are more problematic because their religion shapes their way of life. And even more than before, with the rise of radicalism. Shit most women didn't wear fabric on their hair before the 90s. Crazy when you think about it.

If anything, removing inheritance makes for a large motivation to improve society, since you can't solely focus on your offspring getting money anymore. It would be interesting to see how they re-dedicated their efforts.

This is something I think about sometimes. It's less about experiencing life as a woman in particular, though... the bigger issue is that I'll only ever experience life as a human caucasian male born in the 1980s because that's the hand I was dealt by nature.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to exist and don't resent what I am in any way. I'm thrilled that I might have a chance at living a long, healthy life as a white dude. That said, I realize that there are more points and perspectives than I can even count that I'm prevented from ever truly feeling and understanding. The best I can do is use my fallacy-ridden, biased imagination to try to put myself in the shoes of others. The most I'll ever have is a picture of world as it's viewed through one of billions of lenses.

I consider myself agnostic but all of this makes me hopeful that reincarnation is a thing.

No, I'm depressed because I'm intermittently filled with self-loathing over my repeated failures as a person, continued disappointment of people who care about me, and failure to meaningfully improve myself.
Escapist fantasies of unconditional love from cute anime girls, though arguably a factor in this vicious cycle, are ultimately a symptom, not a cause.

>I don't think anybody truly earns such a large amount of money
Explain single generation billionaires. Not to mention genuine geniuses like Einstein, I dare say he was worth billions.
>by working, they can improve the situation of society as a whole
Anarcho-communists think the same thing when they propose either complete wage parity or the lack of all wages. "Well some people will work just to work" isn't a good enough excuse. There's very little reason to really excel when all you have to support is yourself.
>injustice
Many would argue getting paid more is injustice in and of itself. Not to mention what you've proposed is a system where the state (or whatever corruptible, human organization oversees the confiscation and heavily taxed distribution of dead people's wealth) essentially has access to all the funds of their country, ensuring they have essentially ultimate power. You want to talk about injustice, let's talk about that.
>and presumably kings wanted their sons to inheret the throne
Very few kings became kings in a single generation. Not to mention, inheritance of power isn't such an awful idea in a theoretical system, because the offspring of rulers are in the best position to learn how to rule themselves. Invariably, the imperfections of humanity fucked this up, but you cannot say "This doesn't make any sense". Furthermore, I don't think even if this was implemented it would last. I don't think people like me are in the minority at all, people want to pass down wealth and elevate people they know and like more than anybody else. Ultimately, your proposition is in itself hypocrisy. Presumably the earner of the money can spend it any way they want, except on people they enjoy. What a worthless system. This isn't even good on paper.
>>
>>141255640
>I'm not a fan of extremely wasteful lifestyles
Yes, the decadence of the bourgeoise is shameful comrade, all we need is enough to support ourselves. Fuck people who DO want luxury and are willing to work for it. If you think people who have earned their money should be able to spend it how they desire, this statement is hypocrisy. If you don't, why are you putting forth a system where people earn money at all, you should instead propose a system where we all work for the "greater good" with 0 rewards besides back pats like so many starry-eyed idealists.

I'll tell you how, they will follow my theoretical example and get an easy, cushy job capable of supporting a normal lifestyle. People are loath to do more than they need to unless it benefits them in the long run. A country of collective-slaving idealists just doesn't exist, humans are selfish before anything else. We literally cannot be any other way.

There's no piece of mind to be had if you give your life for someone else's sake.

Also I don't see how "achieving piece of mind by doing a good deed" somehow invalidates the deed's worth. Between piece of mind and money, a lot of people will choose the latter.
>>
>>141272501
You could argue the money achieves peace of mind itself.
>>
>>141255640
>they'll be benefitting EVERYBODY, not just their own
But they only know and like their own. Why wouldn't they want to elevate their own more? You will never meet 99.9% of the people siphoning off your money, and I dares any you wouldn't like a lot of them.
>>
>>141272909
Not to mention the very act of working for wealth that you don't ultimately own is just slaving on a economic treadmill. Might as well stop paying people altogether and hand all power to the state, the outcome is the exact same.
>>
>>141246003
It's easy to do good when people give you billions of dollars for nothing. Imagine what things would be like if they spent that money on something worthwhile instead of golden Jesus statues.
>>
>>141272369
We're all in the same boat here to some extent, some more than others. I don't really think it's about trying to sound philosophical.

I haven't posted in this thread earlier, but for me it's simple. I'm not depressed by any means, but I also acknowledge the fact that life in the grand scheme of things is really pointless, regardless of who you are, as the universe will cease to exist anyway and everything anyone has ever done will be forgotten.

I'm not depressed. I enjoy life for the most part. I just see the world for what it is.

How do you explain the Roman Empire, then? After it crawled and Christianity took over there, it took the West 800 years to return to an equal level of civilization.
It's called the Dark Age for a reason.
