I am selfish. Since the second one is "I'll wait for you" instead of "goodbye forever" I'm fine with that. It works things out on its own. If I can help it though, I'd ask my waifu to stay with me. Most of us believe that it's prudent to make certain sacrifices in order to benefit our future-selves. However, our future-selves are technically not us. After a few years, not a single atom in our body remained the same and our state of consciousness drastically changed. So if we think that sacrifices for our future-selves, whose existence we value due to the knowledge we have about ourselves, are both prudent and virtuous, then this implies that sacrifices for others who we know enough about to value highly are also prudent and virtuous.
