I think part 7 really suffered from being extremely fight of the week and largely boring outside of valentine related things. I also think johnny is worst jojo, I liked that he was one of the most "human," jojos but that doesn't really make him good, to me at least. He was super whiny and annoying, and largely boring until the last 25% of the part.

Most mangaka get into a comfortable spot where they can just pump out the same derivative shit month after month with ease and make a living with a decent fanbase and not have to try. There are very few who actually try and innovate constantly, and out of them Araki has been the most popular for the last 30 years so he's reached a point where UJ will let him do what he wants and as a result he can try out stuff they wouldn't let other writers they publish do. Like if anyone but Araki pitched something as ridiculous as SBR or JJL there's almost no chance it'd get published. He's got the right mix of determination and being popular enough and making them heaps of money so he can fully realise the shit he wants to make.
