Just tried scanning my doujinshi and came to a couple problems.
Has to use color mode since Black and White wouldn't work but as far as I am concerned it looks nice.
Most pages were scanned just fine but for some reason the scanner wouldn't scan 3 pages properly. They were basically cut to parts instead of one page and I tried it several times. One of them I could stitch together easily but the other two are missing stuff.

He's much cheaper than the rest. After a quick look at his site, looks like a flat $1 per page compared to the typical $1.5-2 base + extra for redraws etc. You get what you pay for, and a lot of people are happy as long as they can read it in anything that resembles English.

I've said this before, but CGR isn't THAT bad compared to the rest. Many scanlations have mistakes or made up dialogue in them, but the difference is most groups cover it up by having at least decent grammar in their releases.

I'm not saying he's good in any way, and the poor phrasing is really inexcusable after 10 or so years (it's not impossible to find a native speaker willing to proofread). But as far as translation accuracy goes, there are plenty of groups out there who are just as bad, but hardly get any shit for it because their rewrites read like proper English.

Like I said, those have the same base price, but then you'll be charged extra for the work that CGR won't do. I also have no idea what kind of quality those two offer. I opened up a random page and saw a ビッチ => bitch which is going to trigger some people. It actually worked in that case, so it could simply be a conscious choice from the translator.

I know I'm the one who brought up the price aspect, but I'm not sure those $5 make that much of a difference to commissioners to be honest. I bet you CGR also puts out his releases at a fast rate seeing how little efforts goes into them. A lot of scanlators have long queues, so having him do some of the stuff you don't care too much about is probably a quick an easy way for rich people to get more stuff in English.

It all comes down to the fact that that the bar is set really low for fan translations. We bitch a lot about him, but looking at his recent galleries they're all 4.5 stars. The average pleb doesn't care.
