I'm assuming that their hair grows (I think this is a reasonable assumption) and so they'd need to cut it. Ergo, the hair has been cut before and the rune has survived. So you conclude that the rune reforms out of remaining hair.

I think the real reason NUNS doesn't want to attack Windermere is purely political. It's the same reason as America, Russia and EU are not directly invading ISIS territories. Leon and Aisha find a capsule with a person in cold sleep. This is Mina Forte the planet's only known surviving native. Nobody knows what happened to her people even her. Apparently she is a key to unlocking the Evil Series which she remembers is sealed in another dimension on the planet. Along the way they meet pilots recruiting and freeing them to their side. Rescuing each of the singers. Basara proves to be a pain to Todo's side as he shows up freeing those in his control. Together they join to stop Todo from changing history.

By Global's Report, after they get kidnapped, she was planned with Global (that's why there's a parallel with Global supporting Misa with her father while Hikaru is with Minmay with her parents: this was their set up when they go to Earth). But the capture stuff made the viewers -and probably the channel airing Macross- dig the idea of a love triangle. So they wrote that.

I should also remind you guys everything after episode 27 was forced by the network when they planned to end it there. I love Misa and Misa/Hikaru, but their couple wasn't really planned, it was more made up as it goes, that's why even in the end of the show, Hikaru's feelings are pretty ambiguous. The Mayan Island legend of spirit-like beings is recited on the solitary south seas island. It's thought to be something close to the animism ideology, where divinity dwells in every single thing in this world, and there are such Kaduns as "the Iron Kadun" and "the Fire Kadun". Also, some of the Kadun negatively influence humans, and the persons who violate taboos are thought to have been possessed by the "curse of a Kadun". Moreover, it's said that the "Birdman" (Eifos) will awaken and destroy this world when the "Kadun of Conflict", who arrives from the other side of the sea, blows the wind of ruin.

By all accounts of what the story was telling us and describing the MCs character, the green hair one was literally exactly what he was looking for romantically. And the girl that ended up winning didn't do anything. Like at all the whole series.

That reminds me of another thing Evol fucked up. That actually was not the case at all. The MC ended up being the reincarnation of the winning girl's past life's dog which retroactively messed up the previous series as well
