The first 40 or so episodes are done by the guy who did Gundam Wing, then they changed the directer and made a lot of filler episodes so it can keep up with the manga. Watch those episodes and then switch to the manga. Or just go with the plot important episodes.
A lot of people secretely like Inuyasha because of the nostalgia, I don”t know how much of it would be liked by a new audience. It is kinda shitty, but it has the charm of Feudal Japan and fairy tail mosnters inspired from the Japanese folklore. And nice ED themes and soundtracks and some nice animation done KyoAni.

It's got something for everyone, action for the boys, romance for the girls.

What I really liked about Inuyasha was the villain, Naraku. He's an Azien style "keikaku doori" villain done correctly. His planning, once you get into the details, actually make sense because he's only utilizing factors he himself has control over. Also, unlike Aizen, Naraku's plans do occasionally get fucked because he wrongly assumed the actions and reactions of characters outside his influence. Whereas Aziens plans always worked out perfectly, including the specific actions of characters completely outside his influence or control, but somehow he could guess exactly what they were going to do, even down to exceptionally specific details that he couldn't have possibly known.

Yeah, Naraku makes complicated plans, but he also makes alternate plans and escape routes in case plan A and B don't work. Naraku was smart and clever enough to give himself an out if things went south, but he didn't come across omniscient. Aziens ridiculously intimate plans only worked because he apparently had a copy of the script and was reading ahead.

2) Create incarnation of himself

7) Rinse and repeat for next season/series.

I've read the manga and it's literally the worst thing from Rumiko Takahashi that I've ever read (and I read everything except Rinne).

It's the same unoriginal story dragging on for 56 volumes. Imagine the first apparent villain from any action series like Dragonball or Saint Seiya, and now imagine if the heroes have been after that very same villain till the very last chapter. That's what happens in Inuyasha

So, how does one finish this show? I remember it running on adult swim back when, but only going to a certain point and leaving off, then they aired the movies and I sort of lost track of the series. I know there's a continuation now, but where to pick up at?
