I liked it, it gets a darker from S2, and theres actually development between the characters. Some even die.

The other seasons are worse, but watching them is worth it for the ending.

The anime itself is okay, but it's nothing special really. It gets boring and dry fast, mainly because it stays the same mostly all the way through, and the plot is never really too "exciting" or enticing.

The best thing it has going for it is the porn when that's done well

It changed things, as any adaptation does. It did not go with it's own original plot though, only the very last part of S4 was original to give the anime a proper ending that the novels were never going to get.
