The problem is that her actions don't match her words. Beatrix was acting as if she, having been the only personal to realize that amoral actions can be expedient in human history, was therefore above all ethical considerations.

And she loses the practicality argument when you realize that the DDR had a problem that was purely material rather than... whatever her Super Surveillance Nation would have addressed.

>Buffer states

The funniest thing is they pretty much were less buffer states and more warm bodies to throw into the NATO meatgrinder before the Soviet A class divisions would sweep in, and occupation troops to prevent their own populations from throwing off the Iron Collar of the Soviets. Mind you, the second that it was just a conventional war, the Soviets would lose. They couldn't reach the Rhine fast enough to prevent the Americans and Canadians from pouring into preprepared deployment sites in France, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. Not to mention they'd have to take Denmark, which was easier said than done when you look at the Danish plan which was basically 'Mine the shit out of the Kattegat' and 'Blow up every fucking bridge linking the Jutland to the islands.' Combine this with a heavy dependence on the Carpathian Railways and the inevitable NATO BTFO'ing of their air force post 85, the Pact was not going to win. At best they could force a draw after a German unification and Czechoslovakian liberation by threatening to launch nukes if the Oder-Neisse line was crossed.

And that's assuming that if they got BTFO'd in their first offensive that the Polish wouldn't take their chances and turn on the Soviets.

The DDR collapsed on March 28th, 1983, about a month before International Worker’s Day.
While the DDR would never see its 34th Worker’s Day arrive, the propaganda organs made sure to prepare for one its nations most important holidays.
Here we have an example of poster, made by the DEWAG Berlin-intern VAA, which was to be hung on the streets of East Berlin to remind all that the 1st of May was approaching.
Katia was a role model to all workers of East Germany and made for a popular mascot to be displayed on various work related printed material.
This example was preserved by the Katja Historisches Museum (KHM, Katia Historical Museum) after it was donated by a citizen who claimed to have looted it from the former offices of the DEWAG Berlin on the night of the 28th after rebel forces had already passed through the area.

While the DDR may have collapsed this by no means stopped the celebration of the International Worker’s day. It is celebrated in over 50 countries in the world today.

Happy International Worker’s Day!

Plus they can be outfitted with ASROC's and torpedoes to blow up BETA formations underwater.

And they're pretty much exclusively a Marine thing too, which is a neat touch. Makes sense that the US beach stormers would want something to storm beaches with.

>>140959811
Like, really, the whole 6 Days to the Rhine plan depended on a surprise attack and a LOT of things working in Soviet favor. It was a theoretical exercise at best, but it did provide a good framework for the actual soviet plans.

Also, are you seriously thinking that they could have won the air war against the western powers? Why do you think the soviets invested so much in SAM and AAAsystems?

>>140959932
The 76mm can also be swapped out for 12 VLS cells. So we're talking Tomahawk/Harpoon/SM capable, flying, submersible, insanely tough stealth TSA's.

Well, they aren't supposed to get in it.

That said, they retain the bladed hands and brute strength of the A-6, and the armor geives you a margin of error against Tanks and Grapplers.

If you FOUND a CQC weapon, you might be able to make it work.

With the Avenger, the fact that you have several years worth of nuclear fuel on hand means you can boost at max thrust as much as you want (without overheating), which is a serious advantage. In a story I'm working on presently, the MC uses the superior strength of the TSA frame to use a glaive on his Avenger.

Norwegians and Danes were both flying US made F-16's by this point, same with most of the NATO airforces, the Germans had heavily modified F-4's that were more than capable of BTFO'ing anything the Ossies could throw in their general direction. Then there were the French who weren't slouches themselves. And killing the US and British air forces was going to be tricky. They'd been in actual fighter combat within a decent amount of institutional memory.

>>140960377
VLS tubes can carry multiple types of missile. So them being able to carry a few Harpoons or Tomahawks into the fight makes sense. I'm guessing the Avenger is probably one of the biggest TSA's out there just due to the nuclear reactor, probably about 20m~ or so tall at least.

For reference, the Tomahawk with the booster for ground launch is a bit more than six meters long. Assuming the Avenger is in the same ~20m height range as most TSFs, that would be a bit like a person carrying a missile just under two feet long on a backpack rack.

Anything that doesn't have a CIWS, like ASM torpedo boats.

Also, don't dismiss the value of killing unarmed merchantmen. At the end of the day, that's half of why you have a navy.

Of course it did. Compare it to the range of every other air-to-air missile in service at the time; when you push the envelope like that, you're going to have some difficulty. So you purge a couple dozen of those with the SSGNs right off the bat, then make sure you have assets to reload them in-theater so you can get another shot off with them later.

>>140962733

>>
>>140962971
Uh, no, it's not. But if you think the Chicoms sprang for a data link on every new ship I'll eat my hat, I doubt they did without proof.

Then there's the fact that this is pretty much entirely true, it's more missiles than the chicoms have defenses for. Most of those small boats you're saying can carry moskets and present a bigger danger don't have them, their DDG's carry more AShM's than SAM's, and chinese quality control

>>140962907

No, that would be too much of a common-sense solution.

Another solution that's too common-sense to work would be paying flat overheads rather than a fraction of the cost for system deliveries, so contractors would no longer be incentivized to raise the price of each unit. You'd need some kind of QA investigation system to ensure that quality doesn't become a problem, but that seems easier to do than judging system costs.

I think even Axmann is less evil than her considering how his motivations were purely about getting power. Beatrix wanted to kill everyone just because. She was also secretly Axmann's boss, and most of the things he did was under her command.

As for Lise, she's one of the most selfish people in the whole story. I don't think she ever loved Theo, she just wished to own him. She doesn't care what Theo thinks or feels at all. She even enjoyed torturing and killing his friends because she saw them as obstacles.

At the same time, the advantage of standoff missile capability is undeniable and massive.

This is why I think it's a bad idea to try and build one aircraft that's good at everything; if you manage to make it preform well at any of them despite suffering the engineering trade-offs of all of them, it's going to cost out the ass.

Preaching to the choir; my point is that designing an aircraft to fit overly narrow parameters is just as debilitating and wasteful as making it a jack of all trades and master of none.
>>
>>140968206
>>140968260

I'm not disagreeing that its something you want, but in this day and age the missiles are good enough in enough of the situations that you'll encounter that optimizing a design to favor missile combat is not an indefensible decision.

Plus, you can always put an air-to-ground missile on the same pylon/bay slot once you've achieved air dominance and conduct ground attacks. A dogfighter is going to need to have an airframe optimized for high thrust-to-weight and maneuverability, and thus less ability in that area.

Fair. At least from an engineering standpoint, what you want to do is find groups of tasks that have similar requirements from the equipment that you can't easily change (air frame, stealth, engines) and put those on the same plane, then have like three or four designs.

The problem, of course, is that then you're incurring three times the R&D costs. But if you can get procurement down enough, it might sell.

Something like:

>Glaive
>Interceptor/Missile Bus & Tactical Bomber
>Needs high speed, high cargo capacity, superior sensor systems

>Gladius
>Dogfighter & Wild Weasel
>Needs maneuverability, close-in weapons, ECM, and durability

Your problem is trying put VTOL ability on a platform that isn't built for it, or trying to build something without VTOL but with the design compromises for it made, and expecting it not to suffer a loss of performance.

That's why it's managing to approach the same marginal unit cost of the F-22 without being (nearly) as OP.

I'd say Lise did love Theo.

I mean, look at the situation she was thrown into from her perspective:
>You were caught trying to escape the DDR with you parents and beloved onii-chan
>the last you saw of the latter was him struggling against the Stasi trying to get you back
>You're taken and subsequently raped/tortured/etc, and a threatened that unless you comply and spill the beans regarding the attempted defection, onii-chan will see the pictures, As a carrot though, you're told that if you comply then onii-chan will be safe and even spared from summary execution.
>You tell them everything, lose your parents, and from then on are forced to work for the Stasi as a swallow. In the following years you're forced to do things that degrade your body, heart, and soul, including but not limited to: informing on citizens, sexually satisfying older men, executing other people who attempted to escape the DDR with your bare hands (this includes a baby), etc
>You're basically a dog of the state. You probably hate yourself deeply.
>But all the while, onii-chan is still safe (relatively, as much as you can be in this madhouse of a country).Your only remaining family, the one dearest to your heart, is okay.
>Knowing that, that you have a chance to be reunited with him, and maybe, just maybe, will have an opportunity to finally escape this endless nightmare with him, is all that's keeping you together.

The problem I'd say is that she loved him too much. Theo was the only thing she had going for her. Being reunited with him and escaping together wouldn't just help validate the hell of the all those years. It's also the door to a happy ending out of this.

So when that dream was shattered, so was she.

It really is something.

Anime version has her lose all hope of beating the Stasi, since from her experience they can't be beat. She doesn't trust the rebellion could do it, and also believes that they don't have Theo's best interest in mind and will get him killed, So Plan A was elope with him out of the country. He wouldn't, so Plan B is to bring him over to Stasi side. He wouldn't, so Plan C is to bring him by force. If that fails, then Plan D is murder/suicide to spare him from inevitable torture and death once the rebellion loses which she thought was inevitable.

Yes, there are plenty of characters who are the way they are cause of situations beyond their control, they're still shitty people behaving like shitty people, what happened to them doesn't magically excuse their behavior.

Just imagine if this could be used in real life as a defense, that poor man who was drunk behind the wheel and ended up killing Stacy, the little blond 16 year old on her first time behind the wheel after getting her license, who was a cheerleader, had a boyfriend, went to church, etc. But he should get off easy cause his alcoholism stems from the trauma of being beaten as a child from his daddy. We can judge or rationalize all we want but its the same conversation thats been going in circles for months now. Love the good guys, hate the bad guys thats how this is supposed to work right?

Nothing thats ever been said in these threads matters anyway. It is the way it is and its up to the viewer to come to their own conclusions. If it got people interested in the VNs then I guess it did its job, but theres gonna be a discrepancy in the kind of characters the new audience should expect to find.

It's been a few weeks after your marriage to Lise, and it's been like a dream. Nothing much has changed, really, but that's all you could ever ask for. You're sitting at the diner on your lunch hour, looking across the table at Pham and Walther.

"We have a problem."

Walther sounds grave.

"Do you know how much Iris drank at your reception?"

You wrack your brain, but you're drawing a blank. You don't really remember anything about Iris at your wedding.

"Nothing. She didn't touch a drop of liquor."

"That's... That's good right?"

Pham cuts in.

"Normally that's neither good nor bad. But..."

She opens her purse and pulls out a ziplock back. Inside is a pregnancy test. Pham blushes slightly.

"We have a policy of not flushing the toilet between midnight and six in the morning, because it wakes everyone in the house up when the tank is filling. We waited until Iris was the first person to use it, and..."

You turn the pregnancy test over in your fingers, making a mental not to wash your hands before your meal is served. Of course, it's positive. You look at the others, and everyone at the table shares the same look of concern. Pham is the first to speak.

"I guess it shouldn't be a surprise, really. It isn't as if Iris or Theo knows or cares in the slightest about how contraception works."

You let out a sigh, "What are we going to do?"

Walther thinks for a moment and says, "We get a shotgun. Metaphorically speaking, of course."

"Do you think Theo is going to cooperate?"

Walther shakes his head. "No, he's not emotionally prepared for any of this. Thankfully, it doesn't matter. He's gullible and reactionary. Once we force Theo into a marriage with Iris, he'll become convinced that it is the single best decision he's ever made in his entire life."

"Is this really OK?"

"Of course. He's got to take some sort of responsibility for his actions eventually, doesn't he?"

I think it would be really funny if they ran away successfully, but they made the epilogue really trite, as if it were a bad end, except the dialogue says something like "After flying low to remain under the radar, Theo and Lise eventually crossed into West Germany, landed at Ramstein Air Force Base and requested asylum. Their asylum was quickly granted, and they lived out the rest of their days in Midlands, Texas where they lived a quiet and unassuming life until eventually being evacuated to another planet beyond the stars."

Also yeah Lise really stuck with me. I never really felt like I decided to be a Lisefag, it just happened.

So just kind of got done with the previous thread.

Why are there such drastic variations of the thread depending on what time it is? It's like the Beatrix haters, moralpreening fags, animeonlies and other assorted trash only come on at certain times.

Why don't we have anyone able to come to battle with them at those times? Other times, even if there are stupid shits around, they are engaged right away, and they retreat eventually because they're stupid and they realize it.

After you get home, there's a meeting in your living room. Pham, Farka, Walther, Sylwia, Beatrix Jurgen, Lise and yourself are gathered in a circle trying to decide how to proceed with this new crisis. Beatrix can hardly keep a strait face.

"That silly girl. She wouldn't let me so much as touch her brother until we were married, and what does she do? Fucks on the first date and gets knocked up."

You glance around the room, and are greeted with six stony poker faces. Everybody knows Beatrix is correct, but given the way she phrased things, nobody wants to be the first to concur. You clear your throat.

"So... what's the plan?"

Beatrix cuts in first.

"Well, I was thinking we'd just give him a surprise party, except instead of a party, it's his own wedding. We'll fill out the license first, get everything straitened out, and then we'll give him a bottle of liquor and a ride to the courthouse. We can do the same for Iris, honestly. What they know won't hurt them."

Sylwia scoffs at this plan, "If they're not on board with it, they're just going to get divorced the next day."

Beatrix looks incredulous. "Would Iris even get a divorce? She's a Christian, isn't she?"

The Polish girl rolls her eyes. "She may be Christian, but she's not Catholic. Protestants can get divorced and remain in the church. You do understand the difference, right?"

Beatrix smiles smugly, but the look in her eyes shows just the slightest hint of embarrassment, and it's clear that no, she doesn't understand the difference between Protestants and Catholics, though it's not as if she especially cares. She just doesn't like it when other people know she's wrong about things.

Lise cuts in, "Does Iris know that we know she's pregnant?"

The room turns towards the tiny blonde. It seems that nobody really has an aswer for her question.

"I mean, she's kind of a proud woman, right? Maybe she's embarrassed by all this. Maybe we should find out what she wants."

The room is silent. Lise continues.

"I guess I'm somewhat of an expert in this field." She chuckles sadly. "If I were Iris, right now, I'd be really scared of how Theo would react if he found out I was carrying his child. I'd be afraid that he's going to try and do something to stop the baby from being born, or that he might run away."

You glance around the room. Right now, everyone is pretty much just staring at their own shoes. Evidently, Lise struck a chord. She takes a deep breath. She doesn't want to say what she's thinking, but she knows she has to.

"Maybe we should get Iris over here. We need to make sure she knows we're all on her side. No matter what."

Thirty minutes and a quick phone call later, Iris enters the home, thinking she's coming over for a quiet movie night with you and Lise. She steps into the room, and is more than a little surprised when Walther is there at the door to take her coat.

"What... What is this? What are you all doing here?"

Beatrix walks up to her, and grabs her hands.

"Iris, it's good to see you. would you like a drink?"

"No...no thank you."

"Do you have anything you want to tell us?"

"Not particularly."

Beatrix wraps her sister-in-law in a loving embrace. Iris seems shocked by this. Since she first arrived here, she and Beatrix haven't really shown any affection towards one another when they were both sober. Beatrix's sudden softness is strangely off-putting for the other woman.

"What's going on?"

"Iris, we need to know. Is it Theo's?"

Iris sinks her head onto Beatrix's shoulder, and starts sobbing. The red-eyed woman moves her to the couch, still holding her lovingly.

"I... I don't know what to do. I know I've made a mistake."

"Shhh...." Beatrix is rubbing her back, while Pham, who is sitting on the other side of Iris, squeezes her hand.

"It's OK. We're here for you. We're all here for you."

"It all happened so fast..."

I thought Jurgen would be throwing more of a fit and Beatrix would be the one holding him back.

>Well, if Iris ever had a boyfriend, I'd have no choice but to duel him. Luckily, there were no present signs of her acquiring one, which was great for me. I'm not exactly a fan of bloodshed if I could help it. Even just hypothetically, thinking about having to fight somebody left a bad taste in my mouth.
-Bernhard im Schatten, Chapter 1 Page 1

>>140974656

Jurgen crosses the room, and places his hand under his sister's chin, gazing into her teary eyes for a long moment, smiling happily at her. Maybe he didn't read the mood in the room. More likely, he did, and is choosing to ignore it. But eventually, his silent joy proves to be infectious, and through her tears, Iris eventually begins to smile back.

"It wasn't a mistake. Stop telling yourself it was a mistake."

Iris nods at him, and dries her eyes. As the ice begins to break up in the room, you get back to the business of how to get Theo to take responsibility for what he's done. Walther is delegated to handle Theo, because he has the most experience with it out of anyone there, at least, the most successful experience. For now, Iris will spend the night here, and the group resolves to get Theo to move in with his parents instead of sharing a bed with her, at least until they can figure out how to get him to commit.

A few days later, you and Walther have Theo at the diner, ready to give him the ultimatum. Hopefully, it doesn't come to strong words, but you aren't going to give up until you have the answer you want to hear. Right now, however, you aren't getting any answers. Theo is staring down at his crotch, grinning. It's clearly not because of anything that occurred there naturally, but is instead caused by the phone he's been staring at since Christmas Day.

"Theo? Are you listening?"

No response. Theo is busy laughing at a video of a fat person trying to use a trampoline and instead falling through the fabric. You would be judging Theo much more harshly if you hadn't already seen that particular video several years ago. Walther gets fed up, and snatches away the phone.

"Hey! give that back!"

"No, you have to listen to what I say."

Walther is being stern right now, trying to hide his own frustration. Though Theo is by now older than both of you, it's like dealing with a child.

Both. The serious shit he'd do behind the backs of everyone. Jurgen seems to operate on multiple levels, like Axmann does. I still get the impression that if his sister is in tears in front of him, he's going to say what he has to to make her smile again, then worry about what he's going to do about the guy who did it afterward. Going ballistic at his sister isn't going to help him protect her from the person who made her cry.

"Ok, I'll listen to what you have to say. Give me my phone back."

"Theo, you're going to have a child. You need to take responsibility for that. You need to marry Iris, and start supporting her."

"OK. I'll marry Iris. Give me my phone back."

You turn to Walther in shock. That was... too easy. There has to be a catch. Theo reads the mood, and is suddenly confused by your reaction.

"What? Why is everybody acting like I'm some sort of useless shitbag?"

You bite your tongue. Theo has pretty much been acting like a useless shitbag since he got here, but it's not like anyone ever gave him any sort of expectations to meet. Walther sighs. Theo's eyes flick down to his lap, and he reflexively reaches for the pocket where his phone should be, but isn't. As he realizes it's missing, he looks around, and remembers that Walther has it.

"I just need to do what you tell me, and everything will be OK, right?"

Theo drums his fingers on the table, itching for his fix.

"It.. It doesn't matter anyway. I can't do anything right. Everything I do fails."

Walther puts his hand on Theo's, partly out of affection, but mostly to stop that incessant noise.

"We're not going to let you fail. We're doing this for you, too, you know."

Theo blinks. He's not used to people reaching out to him, especially not after all those years alone. You can see a conflict going on inside his head. Finally, he speaks.

"I don't really know what to do here. Everything here is so different than what I'm used to. So just, tell me what I need to do and I'll try to do it."

You get the bill, and decide to head home. Walther goes his own way, while you drop Theo off at the duplex, where he's staying with his parents. When you get there, you see a person standing on the front lawn.

Uh-oh. Until now, it had never really occurred to you that Theo's parents were living right next door to Jurgen and Beatrix. Jurgen is standing in the front yard of the duplex, and he isn't wearing a shirt.

"Hello, gentlemen!"

Jurgen greets you cheerfully, then wraps Theo in a warm embrace.

"What are you--- Hey! Get your hands out of there!"

Jurgen steps back, holding an inexpensive pocket knife in his hands.

"Give that back."

Theo's confusion turns to anger when he realizes what Jurgen has taken from him.

"First, give me back my sister."

Theo spits on the ground. "Fuck you, she doesn't belong to you. She's her own person."

Jurgen smiles gently, and tosses the knife over his shoulder. It slides down the duplex roof, before getting caught into the gutter. As Theo watches the knife's trajectory, Jurgen slams a low right hook into the redheaded man's navel. Theo lets out a surprised cough, before bringing his own fists up to cover his face. In seconds, the men are trading blows, dancing around each other like the professional fighters they are. Beatrix sprays the two men with a hose, trying to get them to stop fighting. However, it only serves to make the scene more chaotic. Theo tries to hit Jurgen blow the belt, but the other man turns his hips at the last second, leaving Theo to crack his fingers painfully on the solid bone of Jurgen's pelvis. It seems to be painful for the both of them. Finally, the slip into the mud. Beatrix takes this as her cue to drag her husband out of the fray by his ankle, while you pin Theo to the ground. The Hohensteins are standing on the porch, mouths agape, and the baby is crying.

"What the hell was that all about?"

Theo is panting hard, still confused and enraged. Jurgen attempts to answer, but instead yelps in pain as his wife sets his broken nose.

"You idiot. Just what the hell do you think you're doing?"

Discretion being the better part of valor, you load Theo back into the Camry and head to your own house.

Healinganon, you've done wonderful, until this point basically, recently. For one, Jurgen isn't great at fighting, and he isn't some ninja that would be able to pickpocket Theo's knife, let alone dance around and dodge blows like that. And making Theo go for the low blow pretty early is just childish. And Theo wouldn't be bossy acting like that over Iris, considering he doesn't percieve that he owns her in the first place.

You really should have just left Theo alone in the SM verse to be honest...too late now though, I guess.

Epilogue

A few weeks later, Theo and Iris have their wedding, at the church Iris attends. It was a pretty casual affair, given the lack of preparation and funds, but it's enjoyable all the same. Jurgen seems to have decided that Theo would do alright as a brother in-law, and after the fight, gave the marriage his blessing. Neither Iris nor Theo thought they needed it, but it was nice to have all the same. THey eventually moved out and found their own place a few weeks before their baby was born.

As for you and Lise, things continued to go well, except for one minor thing. Every time you managed to successfully integrate a newcomer into your community, another one would appear. The next one to arrive was a young conscript named Vivi, who began screaming when she woke up, somehow convinced that she was still being dismembered by the Beta. It had been pretty hard to calm her down, but once she did, she seemed to adapt quickly to her new home. Then, surprisingly, Alfred Strachwitz, who was rather mopey until his daughter did in fact arrive, though she looked somewhat different than you thought she would. Lise finished her degree, and got a pretty decent job, then got down to the business of starting a family. Jurgen stopped working as a busboy, got a four year degree in three years, then got a good enough job that Beatrix could become a stay-at-home mom, raising several children of her own. You had to change residences several times to accommodate your rapidly growing family. Through it all, you never stopped sleeping on that old mattress, though it seemed to become more comfortable with every new arrival. Many times, things felt strange, and occasionally, they were totally overwhelming. But through it all, you were able to handle whatever the mattress decided to give you, helped by the beautiful girl, now a woman, who first appeared on it all those years ago.

Look, Lisefags, stop trying to debate or discuss with the autistic fucks. They hate Beato, they hate Lise, they think they are holy and moral and righteous, when all they really stand for is the worship is death, and a rational set of calculations to ensure they are still in their own mathematically/logically calculated nexus of wrong vs right.

You've cut to the core of what makes Lise, or at least one good interpretation of it. Now stop trying to convince them of it. They will never, ever get it.

Let them rot in their own hell, of their own making. Until they want to rescue themselves from it, there is nothing you can do for them either.

Selfless in Beatrix's case probably means 'not for her own benefit' (which it wasn't) and in Lise's case means 'self-sacrificial' (which it was). Not that I necessarily agree, mind you.

Pretty sure Lise wanting to kill Theo was more about 'if I don't kill you now you're going to go through living hell and wish you'd died earlier'. I mean it's twisted as fuck, but it does fit the ML version of '''true''' love.

I still have the first Christmas, the first valentines, and a few other things to cover, plus non-specific events that can happen any time.

I have 181 pages of mattress, but I will hopefully be able to add to that with other stories.

You done good. Keep playing with it if you don't feel satisfied.

You could even rewrite the whole concept if you wanted, to refine it at an unrushed and planned pace. It would be much easier now that you've done it already. But if you did that it would be best not to post them like episodes, but keep it as a single complete document.

Because Katia is a lovely girl for the most part, but her fans seem to be rabid children who know nothing of the world and are proud of it. In some ways it's better than Gretelfags who have quite a bad waifu to work with since she's a shit, and then her fans can be even worse. But Katia's fans probably win out since Gretelfags mostly keep to themselves now, and have become the sad child who looks on as the other children play. And since Gretel does have good points and does evolve as time goes on in SM, she and her fans are being rehabilitated.

Katia's fans are pure shitbags though (for the most part). The few who aren't are so ashamed of their fellow Katiafags (the ones who are left anyways, since many of her fans were seasonals) just bury their heads in shame and don't speak up, which is a tragedy.

>>140981746
- Unknown, people are split on whether the Master is Theo or not (they share the same VA, among other things, but have some differences too).

- Why would the Big Guys get disbanded? Are you referring to the last part of the story, involving the twins getting hijacked by the RLF guy? You weren't paying enough attention, he was using an imouto pod he had stolen - Soviet tech, and a Soviet esper inside.

Some people try to suspect that the CIA knew about the RLF attack, but they are to be disregarded.

That's not to say they may or may not have been involved in the Infinities real mission at Yukon - blasting the Soviets G-Element labs among other things.

- You mean before she got hurt? She and Cryska were under the most intense Prafka sort of trance/sync mode seen, and unresponsive to orders. Inia was the one who broke the trance realizing they were about to kill Yuuya. After that, Inia wasn't seen, when she was hurt.

- Some things, many things.

Yui a shit. But at least she knows how to make a comfy meal.

What amount those monolithic concrete fortresses?

In one of those, you'd probably be more at risk of being irradiated by the trace heavy metals in the walls than any outside nuclear detonations.
>>
>>140993777
I don't get your answer. Are you seriously trying to claim that the usage of Nukes would have helped them, when it didn't do a goddamn thing for the Chinks and Russkies apart from Irradiating their own troops and soil? Because it was no longer about Nuking the BETA when they are over in Poland, but when they are already mere dozens of kilometers away from Berlin.

>>140994060
Dust, Fallout and so on, you would have to build decontamination rooms and all that. Thats what I meant. And most of the poor fools on the Oder-Neisse Defence Line fight from Trenches, they don't have meter thick walls of concrete to protect them.

>Are you seriously trying to claim that the usage of Nukes would have helped them

Yes. I am.

They had a nice defense line that the BETA had to bunch to have a shot at breaking through.

Contrast that with the PLA/USSR forces after Kashgar, who had just suffered existential losses. They wouldn't have any way to force the BETA to concentrate into what could become an effective nuclear strike zone, and the BETA would have no reason to do so on their own. So it's only logical that the nuclear weapons we largely ineffective there, but moronic to assume that it's true everywhere, especially under a completely different set of circumstances.

>>140994192

Depends. It could be done in such a way that such concerns would be minimal (high-fusion non-surface detonations), and the prevailing winds work in your favor in any case.

Plus, I would have assumed that your stronk soviet tanks have NBC gear. If you can cut down the numbers with nukes, then the forts and mechanized forces can take more of the burden of the fighting, because you aren't so desperate that you need to accept the diminishing returns of using infantry.

Also, if you decide not to worry about the non-acute effects of radiation, then the NBC stuff becomes FAR less complicated, because it doesn't need to be perfect.
>>
>>140994682
>Also, if you decide not to worry about the non-acute effects of radiation, then the NBC stuff becomes FAR less complicated, because it doesn't need to be perfect.

Heh. It's not as if either of them would care, and keeping people who think you might be irradiating them in line sounds like a job for Super Surveillance State!

The Problem is that we have plenty of evidence that nukes on their own are ineffective. The BETA are able to survive in outer space, they are too resilient towards Temperature, Radiation and pressure changes and thus the nukes seem to only be effective enough in exact the opposite circumstances that you propose. Because nuking the BETA remained standard Soviet and ChiCom doctrine and there is also the nuclear Minefields they use in TDA. Of course, if they had the nukes before a BETA Offensive and had prepared properly, the nukes might have helped enormously. But by the point the BETA were crawling up the Seelow Hights, that has become irrelevant. There is also the further strain on logistics this would all cause. Do you really think that a country whose army is recruiting 15 year olds and whose army is considerably under paper strength, can handle the increased pressure that using the nukes properly provides.

What are you doing to remember this event, comrades?

Why should I care about an event I didn't take part in though?

Salute the poor, dumb Waffen-SS bastards who held to the last because there is no greater virtue than loyalty. Even when its loyalty to a very stupid cause.

>>140996332
I'd say honesty and trustworthiness are far greater virtues.

I slept on it, and I think I'll keep going, just trying to tie all the story trheads together got frustrating and relied too heavily upon my having an accurate characterization of Theo and Jurgen, which ultimately failed

Also drawfag, I can't quit now if Lise gives me a loook like that.

Well alrighty then.

No need to rush healanon. Take your time to think these things out. I'm pretty sure people would rather wait longer if it meant a more satisfying ending for all the characters involved.

Honesty can exist in it's own separate sphere, but Loyalty and Trustworthiness can not exist without each other, and can not exist in the long term without honesty.

Someone can only be dishonest with you and still be trustworthy and loyal if they are misleading you for your own protection. That often turns out badly for everyone involved, though.
>>
>>140997287
Trustworthiness has nothing to do with loyalty. I'll give you an example - the fish merchant always gives you a fair deal and his fish are consistently of good quality. You trust him to deliver you quality goods for a fair price. He is by no means loyal to you.

>seconds after the explosion.

This is after the explosion, and we have no idea the yield used.

And the nuke they used to clear out the surface of JFK Hive worked just fine. Grated, the BETA had reserves in the stabs, but it purged the surface just fine. Even the trouble the Orbital Sacrifices encountered had more to do with health and equipment trouble caused by being in space for an extra year than it did with lasers that survived the blast.

Pus, if they can survive a one-megaton blast at a range not measured in miles, them 36mm shouldn't really have much effect on the,

Are you trying to start the debate on whether Beatrix is truly loyal to Jürgen again?
>>
>>140997383

But you trust him because consistency and quality are in his best interest, and because it's required by law now. If those things changed, the 'trust' would evaporate.
>>
>>140997287
The SS where only loyal to themselves and they keep fighing not for their cause but for themselves
By that time most of the Waffen SS units where made of foreigners and they only keep fighting because they knew that if the soviets didn't kill them, they where going to be judged and executed as traitors in their home nations
Thus their fight only prolonged the suffering of the german people
>>
>>140997494
That has nothing to do with loyalty though.
>>
>>140997430
Anon, they have armour that has Mohs10 Hardness, have relatively small units firing high-powered lasers and manufacture reality bending synthetic elements. The BETA never made sense.

It's OK Marine, the Waffen-SS fighting on the Koenigsplatz were mostly French and Polish. They were the last French soldiers who fought for something worth dying for.

Ironically, many of the Legionaries at Dien Bien Phu were Germans.
