Gender attitudes in Japan can be quite jarring.
Since Japanese women are expected to quit if they get married, men don't want to marry since they don't want to be sole providers to a family and women want that want to have a career don't get married. This is why they have such a low birthrate.
And their inherent isolationism means they're not gonna get any immigrants to compensate for population loss, which will end up being a problem with the aging population.
