It doesn't take the tension out if we have no idea what the rules surrounding the time loops even are yet. For all we know, any given loop could be his last, and it's unclear as to whether that's the only 'save point' or how theoretical 'save points' would be changed.

I just finished watching the fourth episode. Though it was good for buttering people up but I was somewhat disappointed with the final product of the fourth episode.

I would have enjoyed if they followed a little bit more closely to the WN, from what I imagined reading it, in likelyness to the manga which portrayed it better. But we will see what happens by mid-second or beginning of the third arc, I hope that Whitefox will develop a better episode next time. As I would like to see just a tad better portrayal of their faces and atmosphere.

Not to mention they missed alot of character interactions and plot development within the fourth episode which disservices Remfags, such as myself, and made the characters come across as both generic and annoying. This episode was crucial for fleshing out the characters but they decided to squeeze in a cliffhanger which ultimately made the episode feel rushed. Not to mention if they do not by the fifth episode the audience will again no sympathy for the characters and this series will tank.

Also, WHY THE FUCK did they not include his internal monologue? They could have done that least that bit right.

I just hope Whitefox will get their priorities straight and make the second arc a 1:1 scale just like the first arc. But this is NOT starting off on the right foot.

Took the words right outta my fucking mouth. I am absolutely buttblasted with what Whitefox has done in the fourth episode. The events following up to his death are much too important to butcher. Not only did they miss important character developments they also did fuckall with some key plot points between the maids and Subaru that will be important later on in the story.

If they wanted to showcase his death and have more impact it should have been done at the end or during the fifth episode.

The fact that they made MC annoying instead of likable really irks me. That or they are so far off with what their definition of likable really is.

I don't think they missed much interactions and/or plot development as they were cutting around the details. It stays more true to the LN slightly more so to the manga. I would admit that having a little more monologue would help but I think they will add it soon. And I agree that his despair over his respawn would have been much preferred. This was just the prologue. Unless the short 5 minute of the characters that they show tells the watchers of some of the stuff that happened.

I just hope for more character development and interactions next time, as well as Subaru's thought process. As that would have been the most optimal way of going into the series. But we will see, maybe they made episode 4 like that to have a massive tonal shift in episode 5 and catch everyone offgaurd.

This is around the time when Subaru is really observing and suspicious of a lot of things, so I guess the director has a plan of going on about this. I have some faith in the adaptation that the director has brought so far despite his notable work as an animator most of the time. We only need to worry if our expectations are a little too high.
