We're reaching the end of the flash back.
Gappy remembered looking out of the ground to see the flashback man, and yet, we haven't seen it yet. We have to see him in a flashback, and storytelling wise it pretty much HAS to be this flashback. At the very end.
And it will coincide with a big, climactic battle with Damo - as Damo dies, the flashback will have made known the existence of the bigger threat - and as Damo dies, it will give us a nice segway to what happens next and the REAL villians come into play.

Honestly, it's simple stuff. Like pottery.

My biggest bet genuinely is that he's got a HEAVY relation to the corpse, I'd honestly be satisfied if he turned out to be the main villain. It might be because I'll be glad Araki didn't forget but the way he was brought up compared to all the other shady people in part 8, literally being the only flashback Gappy has, makes me think he's definitely going to be the villain, if not, a pretty important character.

Let me educate you on something.

When SC first started airing, the BD's only confirmed the first 25 episodes and everyone was convinced they were either going to rush through it or cut out Stands. But they didn't. And towards the end of the first half, it was announced that SC would have a second half.

So even though DiU is currently confirmed to have 39 episodes, it doesn't mean that those are the only episodes its going to get. All we can do is wait and see - but honestly though David doesn't seem to be in the habit of cutting fights so I doubt they'll do that anyway.

I agree with your reasoning but I don't think flashback man will be the villain. He's enigmatic but that's just fan speculation based on just 2 panels from 4 years ago. It'd be cool to have someone totally unexpected be the villain but given how he's made no effort to even give the occasional reminder of this guy makes me feel like he's not aiming for that. I don't think Damo is the main villain but I also don't think he's gonna die anytime soon. Araki's gone to lengths to show us the authority he has over the stock Humans and I feel like he's definitely the one in charge. It just feels a bit lazy and contrived to set up all these intricate relations and character traits just to have some other character never at all hinted by the others to exist just showing up and being responsible for everything. If it's true then I'm sure Araki can find a way to make it work but I'm not gonna hold my breath. I just think it's not likely because you have to make a bunch of assumptions to arrive at that conclusion and if JJL has taught me anything so far apart from that I'm now attracted to men, it's not to assume anything. As we've both said, we'll see next month. I don't think Araki forgot him and now is the best time to introduce him, but I don't think he's the main antagonist.
