Official Schwarzesmarken soundtrack by Roger Waters of Pink Floyd is THE soundtrack, comrades.
He`s now working on his next album about interdimensional matress travel - when he`s not busy calling out the jew.

Also, commissar Gretel and Martin were lucky to attend to the last concert of the Puhdys https://youtu.be/7FCWNS02jP4

It could be. Closure doesn't always mean all loose ends are tied up, or even tied neatly.

Closure is acceptance and sort of moving onwards, even if you still move in their steps. My aunt, she sort of went full Beatrix and was absolutely inconsolable after her husband died very young, she even refused to disturb his suits in the closet. He appeared to her in her sleep one night and said it was okay, she could move on and that he loved her dearly. Her refusal to carry on was keeping him tied down too. She did resolve to carry on, and he was able to depart, BECAUSE of love, not in spite of it. So you see? The supreme act of self-sacrifice in the name of love can be moving on.

I'm sure if Lise says a prayer for him, wherever he is, SufferingTheo will hear it

Love crosses worlds, and conquers death.

Yes, they are basically the people you call when rebels started shitting up things or when you need someone to be taken care off for the good of the government
>>
Just want to say this for the record:

Lise had to basically force herself on Theo (not bluntly/explicitly) for him to realize how much he meant for her. And even then, it doesn't he caught onto the sheer extent of her feelings until it was too late (even when he was being told bluntly, though admittedly it wasn't the most ideal situation, though this doesn't excuse him avoiding the topic and asking where the other girl is).

anon seems to have made up his mind to get on this train for good or ill, and is the one who proposed.

I'd say it's fairly obvious who seems more committed here.

>>140454298

You might be right. She clearly could never not love him and be the same person, but it could develop into a more platonic love, more the norm for brother and sister. It would take a hell of a lot of time though, and the problem with the closure you presented is that neither of them are dead. She "died" and yet shes still here feeling the way she feels, and hes still out there doing what he does. That would mean to her there is still a chance. I don't think leaving it at that is something she could ever do. Without conclusive death for either of them like this I don't think moving on in the traditional sense would work. This isn't something she can just forget about. They need to come to terms.

But for the purposes here, there is a veil that seperates them. That veil cannot be pierced, especially as Theo has not "died", either his SM incarnation or, if he is actually he, the Master.

Not died *yet. its like waiting around in heaven for your spouse, even if he himself doesn't see it that way. Its funny that the canon story actually does have closure because shes straight up dead. End of story. In an attempt to heal but still have her retain memories Healinganon could simply prolong that suffering.

Stuck behind a "veil" pulled from a hellish world where the one you love most stays and continues to suffer? Let alone turned into a monster after your death. She would probably blame herself for not being there for him when he needed her most. That would be agonizing.

I get where you're coming from, but the thing is she can't say for certain that he IS suffering, or that he IS the Master, since we don't know that either.

And the main story doesn't have closure at all, because he hasn't made peace with her death. That's the thing. Closure is not the same as wrapping loose ends, or dying making it the end.

It's a complicated topic regardless, I guess.

You're right, I'm just not sure she has the capacity to give up at all. I have no doubt she would come up with an excuse as to why they couldn't be together due to their chaotic circumstances, and that she'd wait for him as long as it takes.
I guess I'm saying is complete healing even possible.

Is it really healing to make her move on in the first place? Not by choice but by removing her from her love completely. Not that its something she hasn't experienced before. Shes proved she has patience.

People grow into the people they are through their experiences, so it follows that in theory they can also grow out of who they are into any other type of person given the correct experiences.
Basically it depends if Healinganon has mad healing skillz
>>140456787
Healing usually doesn't imply the complete erasure of an adverse experience because the only two ways that could happen is by turning back global time and via some higher-order being retconning an event, but it does mean that they've taken the experiences and used it to mold themselves in a way [we] think is positive.

>>
>>140456836
She probably can. If she's strong enough to have gotten this far, she can go all the way. But as mentioned/debate above, it will probably require a degree of closure or another.

It won't really be "over" until she is able to tell Theo (in one way or another, alive or dead, present or not present) that she loved him and honestly still does love him, but at the same time she's moving on.

So basically what >>140456982 said.
Healinganon has to manage this quite carefully for it go happen just right.

Indeed. But Theo shouldn't be around though, I think. It's nice too in a way, if he isn't - she's relying on the absolute purity of love and faith to bring her message, her words to him. That counts for a lot.

Maybe they should make a gravestone for him at the cemetery?

>>140458477
Just not likely, that.

That said, Theo, until Katia came along and started changing him, would have likely jumped ship with Lise if that's what she asked him to do. They might have Lise defect to the 666th if you think about it. Who knows.

Then again, maybe not, as the seed of his turning was him letting Inghild die.

You could have your Stasi Theo with a Beato route though. But it'd likely require Lise to have died/been killed sometime before, and her essentially forcing him to join.

If there is anything that I can't let go about Theo, its this.

He's just been told point blank by Lise about the various horrible things she has done basically for the sake of protecting him from the Stasi (a list that includes murder, betrayal, sexual exploitation, etc). But you know what? She's not blaming him. Even through tears, she just wants to be with him again.

He could have gone with her, he could have tried asking why she didn't trust him with all this, he could have tried bringing her back to their side, he could have lamented that he's been a failure as a brother in protecting her but now it's time for him to take responsibility and protect her for a change, etc. He could have chosen to say or do ~anything~ practically to try to calm her down, win her over, or reassure her. Even if he failed, you could at least say he tried to reach his (at that point) mentally unstable sister.

Instead he went with the one line that would set her off.

The callousness displayed, despite it being unintentional, is all on him, along with what came out of it. The one time he is truly needed by someone, he doesn't deliver. Instead, he wants to be needed by someone else entirely.

As for Wantanabe, more poop on his shoulders. He doesn't seem to understand heroes don't have to be spotless. What makes Theo compelling as a hero, all the more a hero is that he is not hero material! It's that there is reason and logic behind his callousness and cruelty, but beyond it, him growing as a person.

That just adds to to the argument though. The whole torture ordeal highlights how much being snared by the Stasi has warped a part of her, and demonstrates how much she needs to be saved from miserable situation.

Would the 666th forgive her outright? With the exception of Pham and Katia, likely not. Sylwia would probably be out for blood if not restrained.

But if the 666th is really fighting to save East Germany from the Stasi, then Lise is all the evidence they need: a girl who used to be (and to some extent still is) a warm and loving little sister that was turned into a dog of the Stasi who lies, tortures, and kills.

>demonstrates how much she needs to be saved from miserable situation

But utilitarianism.

Saving her would come at a cost to their usable assets to fight the Stasi and the BETA far higher than simply eliminating her in combat, and potentially endangers the 666th, which forms the political center-of-mass of the counterrevolutionary forces.

Therefore, attempting to do something other than killing her in combat, especially after it became eminently clear that they would have to take her alive to have any chance of de-crazying her, would be directly against the best interests of the most people.

Turning her into a martyr by publicly lamenting the need to kill her and using her as an example of how bad the Stasi are is a much better course of action.

>This was obviously never on their mind, the fucking moderate rebellion in and of itself showed this.

But Beatrix had a plan that achieved the least good for the largest number of people. She wasn't a monster because her plan was to throw away millions of human lives; she was a monster because her plan was to throw away millions of human lives for no appreciable benefit. The moderate rebellion was acting in accordance with utilitarian ethics.

I'm not sure what kind of moral framework would be needed to create a system that justifies Beatrix's actions.
>>
>>140463231
I'm not justifying Beatrix, although in her own twisted logical framework she actually was being utilitarian (she honestly believed that her plan would save the greatest number of people in the end); whether or not it's feasible and whether or not she was actually retarded is irrelevant to the fact that she was going for the greater good.
The moderate rebellion wasn't acting in accordance with utilitarian ethics, because utilitarian ethics would demand that you focus on the actual threat at hand which were the BETA, not fellow, highly skilled pilots. They were acting for their own goals.

Consider the following.jpg
86KB, 532x487px
>>140463339

I think you can justify it pretty easily according to utilitarian ethics if you believe, through a rational analysis of the situation, that the damage caused to the war effort and the harm caused by that damage is less than harm caused by allowing the Stasi to remain in power. I'm not going to claim it's an inherently correct stance, but the reasoning is at least logically valid (the assumed premises are the space for argument).

Granted, the fact that they moved in the middle of a major BETA offensive erodes a lot of that reasoning. At least from how it looked in the anime (less clear in the LNs), most of the damage caused by the coup d'etat and the following counterrevolution was less a result of the loss of assets and more a result of the fact that neither the Western Theater Forces or the Stasi military arm were available to reinforce Fort Seelow. If the fort fell, then stopping the BETA in the field was not in the cards.

What I'm trying to figure out is what their reasoning was for moving so quickly. The downsides of that seem sufficiently clear that I'd assume they had some specific reason (a good one or otherwise) for attacking when they did.
>>
>>140463691
Beatrix, I presume, wanted a clean coup that happened fast enough to cause minimal destruction and disruption. Iris got in the way with her counter-revolution - not saying she's wrong, but had either of them not committed to their respective courses of action shit probably would've been fine.
>>
>>140463691
>the damage caused to the war effort and the harm caused by that damage is less than harm caused by allowing the Stasi to remain in power.
Honestly I can't imagine how they arrived at that conclusion. Was the Stasi simply going to open the borders like Merkel or something and let the BETA swarm in?
The thing is the relative risks for letting Stasi stay and harming the war are completely off - the Stasi execute and break a few thousand a year, tops, but if you even slightly fuck up the war effort Europe goes tits up.

Knight With Assault Rifle.jpg

>>140463846

Fundamental assumptions, I think, play an enormous role in the morality decisions made here. To wit, the most important one is basically whether or not you believe Europe actually have (or ever had, prehaps) a chance of holding the line. For purposes of this discussion, we'll limit the evaluation to after Operation Palaiologos in 1978; going before that adds way too many extra variables and butterflies.

If you assume Europe can hold indefinitely, then the value of line integrity becomes the major moral concern. If you assume they were fucked from the start (this is my general position) then the preservation of the maximum amount of human life and warmaking potential dominates.

This then informs nearly all of the decisions you make going forward; it could be argued that positions become nearly obvious from the root assumption.
>>
>>140464979
In that case, both of them were going for utilitarian ethics. I mean, Beatrix was high on acid or something in her way of thinking, but it doesn't invalidate her intention.

Enginseer.png

For reference, Operation Palaiologos was a massive NATO/USSR counteroffensive launched against Minsk Hive. It would appear to be the last major 'conventional' overland assault in the BETA-verse timeline at least until 1999; much of the committed fighting power, particularity by the East Bloc, was in the form of regular infantry rather than Tactical Armor. Regardless, the two offensive thrusts reached Minsk in force and linked up, and the Soviet 43rd Guards Tactical Armor Division attempted the First Ever Hive Infiltration.

They were killed to a man, though no one would make it further into a Hive before dying horribly until Operation Lucifer (which also had survivors).

After the attack failed, the BETA counterattacked from the south and split the coalition lines; the majority o the USSR forces were pushed east, wheres both NATO and the Warsaw Pact satellite states were driven back west. If they'd gone nuclear rather than attempting an infiltration, or had the A-10 ready for the attack (because what more could you ask for in this sort of fight?) everything is completely different.

Fair, though it should be pointed out that Hive Infiltration really isn't at all the best situation for using them. With a high velocity and partially powered flight on the rounds, the railgun is a weapon for field battles.

For Hive Infiltration, you'd be better suited with a large-caliber low-velocity direct-fire automatic mortar.

>Kashgar must have survived if they learned to bypass minefields

They did that lolrandomly from time to time pre-Superior. Considering the likely poor quality of the sensor network and minefield as a whole, I'm not sure this really proves anything. They were also conducting human experimentation at least as early as 1998, if not much earlier.

>>140468379

This would be the only thing that really indicates that the Superior survived, but I'm not sure how that would be possible. One would expect that Kashgar would have been the one Hive where they would have made absolutely sure.

They did pour it all on the continent since it actually sank the whole damn land and made salt deserts out of it, They probably fucked up by forgetting that the BETAs doesn't care about water or that maybe that Superior survive due to how deep kashgar is?
>>
>>140470080

Kind of? Operation Babalyon was described as a simultaneous mass strategic assault on every Hive in the world - they weren't just G-Bombing open tracts of land. Considering the importance and significance of Kashgar, you would expect that they would drop a half-dozen or so G-Bombs mixed in with a several dozen vanilla B41s (25 Mt yield configuration, of course) with several times that number of decoys for each nuke. If the Lasers focus on wearing down the Lazaford Field on the G-Bombs, that occupies the Heavy Lasers long enough that the odds that at least one nuke doesn't get close enough to obliterate all of them become extremely small.

This then opens the path for the second wave of weapons, which are likely just G-bombs targeting a subsurface encirclement detonation pattern with one bomb detonated right on top of (or right next to) the Hive Monumnet and the rest in a ring around it a few kilometers away.

Given the depth of Kashgar, it would not be imprudent to drop an additional nuclear earth penetrator down the main shaft while you are blasting the outer Hive Stabs.

She's basically like Hitler. Hitler thought he was helping humanity out by wiping out the untermensch, when all he was doing was frittering away resourced that would've been better spent on the war. He also was extremely wasteful with the lives of his soldiers, especially on the Eastern front, showing the same callous disregard of human life that Beatrix did. Finally, when he was sitting in his bunker as Berlin was shelled, he went on record as saying that he wished everyone would die with him, again matching up with Beatrix's mentality. We don't even need to mention their ability to inspire almost cult like devotion in their followers, how they both came to power through force, or how the both have black hair.

Ergo, Beatrix is based off of Hitler, in the same way that Axmann is based off of Heydrich.

She doesn't look like she'd have the physiology to really put up much resistance. Sure, she's a tall girl and she's probably an even better fighter than Irisdina, but if you get up into her guard and grapple her, you'd negate a lot of that. She can't be that heavy and doesn't exactly look very muscular.

>Nah, the superior survived. Experimentation only makes sense if there is someone to process all the Data, and the normal cores and BETA don't do that.

We don't really have any basis for comparison. We know that the BETA were conducting human experimentation at Yokohama Hive, which would be late-1998 and early 1999. Operation Lucifer successfully reduced the Hive in early August of '99, meaning there's a two year gap between then and period of the game (late '01) when we know the Superior is fully armed and operational.

If it is correct that the Superior is required for the BETA to conduct human experimentation, that would point at my theory that it really isn't as big a deal as Yuuko made it out to be. We know that the human race survived two years from the end of Alt IV until the beginning of Operation Babalyon. If the superior was active as far back as 1998, this would mean it was active for five years without accomplishing anything, and is thus on the same tier as Grapper-kun.

Then again, TDA is already fucked enough it wouldn't take much to push it over the edge. How did the interior of North America get turned into a wasteland, anyway?

Huh. I was under the impression that it was South America that was lifted out of the troposphere.

Those gravitational anomalies could be useful. TO overcome at least 60% or so of atmospheric pressure, they'd need to be strong enough to cause some M.C. Escher shit with anything heavier than air; you could set up a loop of water (Pro mode: use mercury) and extract INFINITE ENERGY.

There is no word on South america, as far as I know. Considering that the UN still exists, and that there are others besides the Japs, Murricans, Frogs and Canadians participating in the JFK operation, at least some parts of South America might be still inhabited.

Those gravitational anomalies are pretty weirdly distributed though. Hibiki and Yuzuka crossed the continent on foot without running into one, but south of Oregon air pressure drops to the point that you need pressurized trains and well Virginia, seems to lack an Atmosphere.

Muv Luv 83 when?

Corporate spies stealing TSF manufacturing secrets for their respective corporations while the BETA war happens in the background and occasionally the foreground when the MC has to go to a facility that is closer to the frontline. He is actually trying to find out what Alternative III was because his sister was one of the orphans used and he hasn't seen her since. The arcs would mostly be self contained with a few characters and plot lines carrying over to slowly create the overarching narrative of the MC trying to find his sister.

>So Abel is probably the hugest dick in SM. After years of political maneuvering, he finally takes control of the stasi as their minister and begins using them as a vehicle for personal power. Fear grips the land, and even his own daughter isn't safe when he impresses her into the fold. The very first thing he tries to do is break her of her morals by forcing her to kill runaways (she's only like 16-17 at this point). >>
>>140473970

Yeah.

It's worth noting that a Nimitz-class carrier isn't independently pressurized, and the JFK Hive was south of Hawaii, but the atmosphere was apparently still breathable.

Also, I checked, Mother Goose 1 took orbital recon photos which indicated that South America had been shifted 12-13,000 meters relative to the atmosphere as a whole. This elevates it to right around the cruising height of commercial jetliners, and would render it uninhabitable.

A few salient points; Northern Virginia isn't that much further south than the southern border of Oregon (California is freakishly large) and we see the French Bastards with what appear to be Humvees along with their space suit infantry on the white house lawn. A few salient points; normal internal combustion engines would not work in a depressurized environment; either you'd need compressors to get the air to burn fuel, or carry your own supply of oxygen.

Second, in a true vacuum environment, the grass would be looking less... not exposed to vacuum.

It seems more likely that they deployed a chemical or biological weapon; a spacesuit would be great protection from either and might be more available than dedicated NBC gear on short notice.

The LN did not portray it as a good thing though. The anime changes things around to make Theo more heroic. In the LN, the stab is from Beatrix's perspective. She's caught off guard by Theo turning his MiG around and tries to dodge but her MiG is unresponsive:

(急降下攻撃──その技は研究済みだ──!)
(A swooping attack-he researched his technique!)

「それが切り札とはな──見損なったぞ、テオドール・エーベルバッハ!」
"So this is your trump-I misjudged you Theodor Eberbach!"

Then, Theo disables her last arm before hitting her fuselage. They crash into a set of apartments and her MiG is totally dead. She tries to give her MiG a kick, but it won't move and she's stuck there. She can't see anything because of the damage, she can only hear the alarm sirens. She's virtually defenseless. Then Theo coup-de-grace's her.

The two entangled aircraft slammed into the apartment building. From her retinal display and blaring alarms, Beatrix could tell that her aircraft was destroyed. She tried to give her MiG a kick and get it flying, but her aircraft is completely unresponsive.
『────!』(Beatrix freaking out basically)
Then her external microphones began picking up the sound of her machine being rent. She could only stare in resignation/satisfaction as the knife approached her chest.

It's a very slight difference, but extremely important nonetheless. Theo killed Beatrix when she was unable to fight back. He executed her. They also removed Theo's last line to her as she's dying, something that's extremely important to the whole Master=Theo theory.

 テオドールは気持ちを落ち着かせるよう深呼吸を繰り返した。そして、吐き捨てるように呟く。
「……社会主義は、宗教を否定しているんじゃ無なかったのかよ」

Theodor breathed deep over and over to calm himself down. And he muttered/spat out:
"...Communism is nothing for it denies religion" (ironically, she's not even really a Communist)

It's the day after your proposal, and you're with Lise at a stonemason's yard. When you had gotten in the car that morning, you had expected to go with her to pick out a ring, but she shook her head, telling you that she didn't need a band of gold to convince her that you really loved her. Before she committed herself to you, however, she needed to settle something else. You're in a dusty workshop, staring at a piece of red granite cut into the shape of an urn. There is a hole drilled into the top, so that you can use the urn as a vase to hold flowers. A bronze plaque on the pedestal simply reads "Theodore Eberbach"

There will be no grave, no plot of land to call his own. Instead, you'll simply keep it in your living room, where you currently have a cardboard box full of old DVDs. It's better this way, because Lise can be with her brother whenever she fees she needs it. She's staring at it, clutching her hands to her breast while you stand to her side slowly rubbing her back. The masons wrap it in a moving blanket, and load it into the back of your Camry. It's not too large, maybe only 50kg, so you figure you can get it inside just fine. As you're driving back, she finally speaks.

"I don't want to let go."

"That's OK, you don't have to. Maybe we'll find out what happened to him, and you'll get to see him again."

She sniffs, then breaks into a giggle.

"It's funny, isn't it. We're buying a memorial for a person who isn't dead, because they aren't dead."

"I guess, but how else can you do this? There isn't really an established convention for this sort of thing, is there?"

"He rejected me, so I can't take him back as a lover, but you can't just give up on your siblings like that, can you? OK, maybe he did, but I want to think that was a mistake. I still want him to be my brother. No, He'll be my brother despite everything he's done, and everything he failed to do. I still want him to come back to the family one day."

I'm a different guy, but having a glorious, satisfying fight scene misses the point of the death entirely. While killing her may or may not have been necessary in the long term, the point is to make her death seem pointless, and deny her any catharsis or closure, because that's part of the tragedy of her character. Beatrix is a pathetic person who pawned her soul to try and achieve her interpretation of her lover's dream, because that's all she had, and in the end, despite everything, it wasn't enough, and she doesn't really die in battle, she dies alone and scared at the hands of a person who hates her for all the things she hates about herself.

I think that's spot on. Theo hates her for everything she isn't too. She becomes his stand in for everything the stasi has done to him and Lise, but when he kills her, there's no satisfaction in his revenge to his surprise, only a feeling of emptiness.

Given the information he had available to him at the time, and the commitments he had undertaken to other parties at the time, I think he was justified in killing her.

I don't think he could have allowed her to live without changing basically everything about the second half of the show (which is hopefully what will happen in martyrs)

It's sad for us because as viewers, we realize how pointless and unnecessary it is, but Theo is totally unaware of all the dynamics that make that so.

Because, her anime death is the outgrowth of a lie, which is her anime characterization. Her anime death, and it's shuddering triumphalism simply was the end process of a person without motivations, without belief, without organic connections to a life. And even her passing was silent, which was supposed to be the end catharisis of all that had happened, and the moment Theodore realized the whole truth, was turned into a non-show. And on top, it simply served no emotional connection to the viewer, besides cheap triumphalism, when the whole point was that you're supposed to not feel right about it - even Theo does not in the LN.

The whole point of her death was that she would haunt Theodore for the rest of his days.

Killing a wounded opponent is something that I find rather odious, especially when given the opportunity to take them prisoner. Saying that, Theo was convinced that she was the one who broke Lise, and if I'd become certain someone did that to my sibling, I wouldn't stop until they were dead. On the same token, I would have confronted Beatrix on the matter. I'm the type who likes to ask questions before getting angry, and I'd really want some answers, especially if I'd disabled her. Was taking her prisoner really an option, or a safe option? TSFs don't really have facilities for taking prisoners, and they didn't have any moderate reagular military forces in the area. If you give her to uprising civilians, eiher she gets away in less time than most Batman villains, or someone knows who she is and carries out Justice.

And if she gets away, then all she can do is prolong the civil war.

It's a few weeks later. You may have supposed that a mock Urn would be a solemn thing. That is clearly not the case. Right now, instead of a flower, there's a Stetson jauntily tilted on the rim and a lei draped over indents, and Lise is happily telling her brother about the trip to the fair where the hat was obtained. She talks to him - You've taken to calling the urn "him" instead of "it" - whenever she misses her brother, often telling him about her day. Once, when you were taking a shower after a minor argument over something you can't remember, you could overhear Lise relieving her anxieties to him, telling him how everything was really her fault, but she didn't know how to apologize, and her pride wouldn't let her. You let that be your cue to apologize first, and everything was soon forgotten. She ends every conversation she has with him with "Good luck, Theo. I hope I see you again soon."

Right now, Lise is sitting on the couch with her mother, Beatrix and the baby. Lise has grown comfortable around it, and is even playing with it without a trace of anxiety. Its beginning to grow a mop of light blonde hair to go along with its radiant red eyes, which are closed happily as it nurses from its mother's breast. Beatrix is positively glowing as she stares down at the babe in her arms. Lise is happy to be in the company of her best friend, but the look in her mother's eye gives you pause. You would prefer to wait until Lise had earned the degree she is working on before starting a family. However, you know better than to try and fight biological imperatives with rational discourse, so for now you just grin and bear it.

It kind of saddens you knowing how sold Lise's parents are on you, because you can tell that a lot of it comes from the fact that, knowing what they know now about her past, they think you're the only option she has left. While it does seem they do like you, it's totally separate from the fervor with which they support your relationship

Yeah, pretty much. It's the same problem with harem romances; they always end right as things get good. Besides, we see too often the couple(s) itself being the generator of conflict (drama generated from girl vs boy, will-they won't-they, or who will he pick tension). BiS is kind of refreshing because the hero/heroine want to be together, know they want to be together, but are kept apart due to external factors and must work together to overcome those factors. The interplay is also interesting.

On the subject or Harems, actual Harem romances can get interesting, (admittedly the only one I've really spent any time with is Genji) when you have several wives and consorts, but there's still that sense of permanence, and none of the will-they-won't-they stuff, like when you have like, the first wive, the favorite wife, the one true love (usually the one that died or is otherwise lost) and all that. Genji is especially interesting because the women lived separately from one another. Also, because Genji literally raped/kidnapped one of his wives, in the sense that he tossed a ten year old over his shoulder and walked out of her father's house, because he's the goddamned boss.

But over all, I prefer an OTP where the depth of the couple's love is the meat of the show, rather than simply establishing that the love exists in the first place.

Fedora tippers are just decent people who believe in science over religion, taken up to eleven.
That line is one of a decent man who believes in God, taken to eleven.
It's horribly exaggerated.

Saddam Hussein was pretty bad too, despite what the daily baathist hour would like you to believe. But guving him a nice, humiliating show trial and then executing him was still a better option than killing him on the spot.

For contrast look at how opinions towards the Libyan revolution kind of soured when Gaddafi got buttfucked and summarily executed.

Even Saddam's actual execution had the hitch when the video with audio was released.

It has nothing do do with what your enemies do or do not deserve, it's about your own dignity, and demonstrating that you're a better person than they are because you do not do the things you accuse them of doing.

>It has nothing do do with what your enemies do or do not deserve, it's about your own dignity, and demonstrating that you're a better person than they are because you do not do the things you accuse them of doing.

Soild point.

It ties back to the Laws of War as a whole, specifically how they don't exist for the benefit of the enemy.

Because >>140492328 , probably. I don't want to see Pham hurt anymore. Even if she's the one who does it to herself.

I fight on in ML because it's for the hope of the better day. Pham deserves to finally see a better day...

Makes me wonder though, if the VN Iris route will have Theo and her hook up. It's not like it's impossible. Just because she hides it better than Beatrix doesn't mean she isn't interested in him...or rather, what he represents.

She could have booted Theo off the 666th a long time ago, for his insubordination and other problems.

I really, really want to see Bea and Iris get into a fight referencing you know who when they argue over Bea trying to recruit him.

Irisdina Bernhard is standing at your doorstep, holding a boquet of white lillies. She evidently heard about Theo's memorial from Beatrix via Jurgen. You don't really spend very much time with Iris. As more and more members of the 666th began to appear, the center of gravity of the group shifted away from you, and while you saw her and kept up with her at group get-togethers, maybe four or five times a week, you didn't spend very much time with Iris alone. To be honest, the only actual member of the 666th you spend significant time with alone these days is Walther. Other than him, you really spend most of the time with Beatrix when she's hanging out with Lise, or Jurgen when Beatrix is hanging out with Lise and doesn't want either of you interfering with her fun. You're not sure that she's seen the inside of her house since she was living on the bunk above her Brother and his wife in the living room.

You let her in, and she looks around. Lise acknowleges her from over the screen of the netbook. Lise and Iris are civil with one another, but they accomplish that largely by not talking to one another. Iris takes a look around. Without the Wolf's Den hogging up most of the living room, the place really looks different. She turns to Theo's Memorial, and looks around in confusion. The Stetson has fallen behind the Urn, and has since been replaced with a paper crown, a momento of Lise's first trip to Burger King. Iris stares at the granite urn with confusion.

"What's with all this... Stuff?"

Lise looks up.

"What's with the white lilies?"

"I thought... Isn't this supposed to be a way to remember him?"

Lise snickers.

"Yeah, but it's not like he's dead, that's the problem, remember? I'm going to give all that stuff to him when he comes back, and then I'm going to show him the places where I got it."

"What do I... What am I supposed to do?"

"I dunno. I don't thing you're really "supposed" to do anything. Just talk to him or something. That's what I do."

Iris laughs nervously, trying to play off Lise's suggestion as a joke. She does find room to put the lilies in the urn, since it is in fact wearing a paper crown, and then sits on the floor contemplating the urn. You try to ignore her, or rather, you try to hide from Lise the fact that you have a really good view of Irisdina's ass and Irisdina has a very nice ass. Lise has more important things to do than pay attention to either of you, and goes back to her netbook. For the sake of civility, you go back to the finale of the a show you're watching. It's basically a prequel to Ghost in the Shell, except with a nekomimi gynoid maid as the deuteragonist. You're pretty well tuned out of everything, watching explosions and stuff, when you see Iris lean forward and give the mock urn a hug. You realize that she had in fact been talking to the urn. Her breathing is irregular, and you can tell she's been crying. You glance around the room nervously, and realize that Lise has been momentarily distracted from her own work editing one of her father's manuscripts, and is looking at you with a similar expression.

You get up and head to the kitchen for a glass of water. Lise jerks her head towards the door, and you both decide it is time for a breath of fresh air. You step outside. Through it all, Iris doesn't seem to notice. As you shut the door behind you, you hear her apologizing to the chunk of red granite.

"Theo, I'm so sorry."

Lise's eyes meet yours. Clearly, this is far more than she expected as well. You take a walk around the neighborhood, taking a different route from your usual running path, and seeing things from angles you aren't used to, walking down blocks and cul de sacs you normally ignore. Lise breaks the silence.

"I guess I'm not the only one who misses Theo..."

You finish your walk and return home. You let yourselves in quietly. By now, Iris is done crying, and is instead sitting cross legged in front of the mock urn, happily telling it about the things she's been able to experience since she arrived via the interdimensional mattress. She looks up as you enter the room. Her eyes are red around the edges and her nise is running, but she smiles happily when she sees you. She places her hand on the rim of the granite mock urn for a moment, then stands up.

"Lise... will you be my friend?"

Lise steps back in surprise.

"What?"

"I want to know if you'll be my friend. I realized... I realized we don't really get along, do we?"

You aren't sure if Iris really knows just how much drama accompanied her arrival, but you somehow suspect she's aware of it on some level. Lise was caught completely off guard.

"Well, I guess, I mean... Ok."

Lise nods in assent.

"And... I want to be friends with Beatrix again. She used to be my best friend, you know, a long time ago."

Iris laughs nervously

"I'm sure you know how that went. But... I want to be her friend again. She never sees me, unless she's there to keep an eye on my brother... And... She never asks me to babysit!"

The girl in front of you looks positively wounded.

"I mean, it's my niece, you know? I want to get to know her..."

Lise seems surprised by this. Come to think of it, she's never really seen the baby and Irisdina in the same room together, and understood that it was her own mother who looked after the child while Beatrix was at work, though much of this had to do with proximity and schedules. Even if Iris is only tying to be her friend to see her niece... shouldn't Iris see her niece? And shouldn't Lise take her at her word? What does she really have to lose?

"Okay, Iris, let's try to be friends from now on."

Lise stands on her tip-toes and reaches up, patting Irisdina's head.

Well one thing is that they are not Soviet slaves.

It was a no-nonsense regiment, you worked well, you get paid well, very well, on top of free housing, free healthcare and low criminal activity provided by the state.
You fucked up? You get a trip to quarry, you massively fucked up? As in full retard piece of shit, you get executed.
On top of that, unlike other communist countries we weren't Russia's bitch.
I lived in it, my mother lived in it, my father lived in it, my grandparents lived in it, I can't recall a single time any one of them said they prefer the shit we have now.
There's a reason Tito had the biggest state funeral in history, the man was smart, charismatic, had balls of steel, he was loved by his country, and not in the way the Koreans "love" Kim Jong-un.

Tito told Stalin to fuck off

Spoilers or not there will be despair

>Based on the number of attending politicians and state delegations, it is still regarded as the largest state funeral in history. They included four kings, 31 presidents, six princes, 22 prime ministers and 47 ministers of foreign affairs

Also, the Non-Aligned Movement was the way
I wish my country haven't left it

Well, there is at least one good point.

>giant faglord hippy turns out to be an actual faglord traitor
>probably has AIDS

This has to be like, justice, or something.

>"Stop sending people to kill me. We've already captured five of them, one of them with a bomb and another with a rifle. If you don't stop sending killers, I'll send one to Moscow, and I won't have to send a second."
It takes a special kind of brass balls to say this.

Klanjam ti se, Maršale.

Interesting. I see that people really loved it. So, what caused Yugoslavia to fall apart and become what it is today? Was it because of Tito's death?
>>
>>140507611
Yes, and Serbs fucking up everyhing
>>
>>140507611
His death mostly, but Western nations didn't like at all how Yugoslavia remained neutral while amassing military power and influence, that wasn't something an Eastern Bloc country should have as it would have undermined Germany's, France's, UK's, etc economic power.
On top of his death and outside interference, the Serbs got too trigger happy and thought they could take over and rule Macedonia, Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia, which went against everything Tito stood for, brotherhood and unity, naturally people rebelled and many bullets and dead bodies later, there's no Yugoslavia left.

What kind of housing did you get? Was it commieblocks?

I'm not surprised to find out that the Reagan administration had a hand in the break-up of Yugoslavia.

Anyway, from what I see, there's no way for another Yugoslavia, with all the religious, national and ethnic tensions.

>>140507781
Commieblocks look spooky.

I forgot to mention this, but every single citizen had free healthcare, and not pseudo free healthcare where they check your blood pressure and you're off, but full checkups, free drugs AND therapies, regardless of social status.
While the current healthcare in Croatia is still leagues and bounds better than most countries that have been invaded by the jews and ended up privatized, it's still a shadow of what is once was.

Also education, everyone had a right to free high education, scholarship for American and British universities were given left and fucking right like candy.

A very different time, much different than Tuđman's "200 families" plan.

Depends on your family, 2 member families(single mother and child in this case) usually ended up with 50m2 flats, more members bigger flats.

I should know, I'm still living in one.
I can sell it for around 150-170k Euro now since it is in a historical part of town.
