5 stars will give you as many stamina points as your rank provides. EG: if your rank means you have a max of 50 stamina, you get 50 stamina - On top of what you have at the moment.
IE: If you have 2 out of 50 stamina, and recharge, you end up with 52 stamina.
So you can overcharge a bit to do consecutive legendarys.

Lives give exp for both the cards you use and for yourself (to achieve greater ranks = more stamina).
You can also 'train' cards by feeding other cards to them (the Johnny cards sole use is be fed to other cards).
The cost for feeding a card to another card is 100 hearts * The level of the card that is being fed * The number of cards being fed to the card.
So a level one card can be fed a johnny at a cost of 100 hearts, feeding two at once will cost 200, but feeding a single johnny to a level 15 card will cost 1500 hearts.
The idea being that you weigh up the cost/benefits of waiting until you can max a card in a single feeding session with getting the extra song points by having a partially levelled up card now.

Protip: After about a week you wont care how many hearts anything costs because you'll have a billion of them. Play on Fridays to get Lucky Jewels in the daily song, which are set up solely to be traded for hearts.
Other bonus: Maxing a cards level gives you 3 stars (view them in the photo binder to receive)

This episode was extremely on the ball. From Non suspecting everyone in PriPara of getting knocked up, including her sister who specifically ages when she goes, to Amamiya being extra stalkerish in his calendar of Minami anniversaries. That talk with Parfait about where babies come from was executed perfectly, and I bet Reona's the only one who really knows because he learned it from Sophie. Then Mikan ate her masterpiece artwork of a meatbun just off to the side (she really gets a lot of funny scenes in the background), and specifically was enamored with Junon. Her performance was great too, as was the battle of who could be coolest. Just listening to the reactions at Sophie's "The sun is a flare sherbet" just nailed it. And once again this season we get some self-aware meta jokes about Pinon being a combination of Dorothy, Mirei, and Ajimi. But of course the best part was Sumire-chan voicing Usacha again. Everything is great.

Pachirisu wouldn't even be considered at all in anyone's team had not been for the format VGC14 had where everyone and their mom was countering Rage Powder hard and the only other usable Follow Me user was Lucario who's paper-frail. How many Pachirisus have you seen in 15 or 16? Zero. Why? Because people don't have the need to scrape the bottom of the barrel anymore.

Pachirisu worked not because it was a cutesy shitmon. It worked because on that limited format he was the only actually usable Follow Me user, with the cherry on top being Volt Absorb and the combination of both helping to protect the rest of electric-weak Pokemon on the team like Gyarados, very important considering x4 weakness, and Talonflame. Team synergy is important.

80% of Pokemon is learning the meta and team-building. The other 19% is pray to the RNG gods and the remaining 1% is actually learning the game.
