I disagree.

But I've also got a hardon for anything involving time travel, alternate realities, or rashomon.

The key to a good bait is too be fresh. Similar OPs have been posted with a S;G OP very recently.
You should try another show if you are too lazy to come up with different text.

Wow. Very bait. Such troll.

>>140103803
Not sure if this is bait, but i completely agree.
I haven't hated a main character as much as this exasperating cringe-filled slab of shit. I tried to get past it, but the fatuous shit he said turned me off the series all together by episode 3. How can people actually like this kind of character?

The only thing you can even say was bad about it was the meme localization and drawing QUALITY at points, everything else was great

Episodes 1-6 were definitely shit from the sheer amount of filler.
After 6 the plot picked up and it became good but it should have stuck more to the point and not fallen off on unnecessary memetastic tangents. 12-14 episodes would be the ideal length because the writers would have been forced to decide on what aspects are and are not important. This is my primary complaint.

My second dislike was that the nature of the cast. Everyone obtained quality character development, but once you started seeing one person's hidden identity it became incredibly easy to deduce who was who because of the reveal patterns. The plot was very episodic and became more and more formulaic as it focussed in and around D-mails which made the outcomes easier and easier to predict.

Whilst the Erased show that was running earlier this season had a small cast and an obvious villain, the anime was only 12 episodes long which makes it excusable. This one was 24 episodes and all we managed to see was the lab members and people related to the lab. The cast was far too insular and SERN didn't even really feature other than FB and yet they are supposed to be all encompassing.

Furthermore, the show skipped the whole concept of a time war altogether by conveniently avoiding WW3. It gets mentioned and dropped and really needs to be expanded upon in a mindfucking manner. Timetravellers outwitting other travellers? Time machine arms race – what about SERN utilising retroactive warfare and meddling in the pasts of others or creating a paradoxes rather than just deciding to raid a lab in the most conventional manner never?
>>
>>140107815
I also felt that SERN was far too stupid. Possessed of some form of time travel they should have taken measures to safeguard their own future while actively trying to manoeuvre around Okabe's attempts to liberate the time machine instead of passively allowing him to take it by not learning from the alterations in the past.

It was also far too convenient that Okabe was just able to time travel back and repeat the experience every time without fail. Destroying the time leap technology or rendering it null was never used in plot and it was quite a wasted opportunity.

Time line diversion was also an interesting concept but ruined by the fact that the β timeline even exists. Timelines should not be purely discrete points in time but continuous and the constant attempt to shoehorn it into groundhog day yet not a groundhog day was fairly annoying.

S;G was quite a good anime with nice characterisation, good plot and logical flow of events but an exquisitely disappointing scifi/time travel story which takes a time loop and does nothing creative with it. This anime needs a more macroscopic approach.
>>
>>140107815
At least this one is a proper argument, unlike OP's bullshit bait.
>>
>>140107910
Well I did like the show and it did a good job at eliciting emotions but it could have done more in the time travel department. The visuals on S;G was great, well ahead of its time but the time travel was softer than a cushion scifi-wise.

>>140107977
>ahead of its time
What. Are you suggesting there have been some significant advances in anime visuals in the last four years?
