I didn't know anything about this anime but I sure as hell didn't expect Red October.
Did she kill everyone else on the bridge?
A dozen or so other ships as well, apparently.
>Independence class LCS analogue
>Listing by 20 degrees to the port from a direct type 93 torpedo strike with inert warhead
I am more bother by the fact the torpedo is not guided and it hits the suppose to be very fast LCS
Also, LCS is not stealth how come with their radar hey did not see it coming?
Model changes between Mk 110 57mm and Mk 45 127mm gun.
Shit fucking show. Dropped!
Modern warships aren't armoured, hell destroyers in WWII had minimal if any armour.
It's all about not getting hit, and if you do damage control. Also, it's anime.
Not sure what's this then
Destroyers didn't have armor because they had an auxiliary role. They'd swarm around the main battleships protecting them from subs and mines while providing scouting information for the big guns on the battleships.
In WW2 the focus was on aerial combat, since planes had a much larger range than big artillery pieces. You could bomb the shit out of their big guns from 50 miles away.
So they'd have to have aircraft carriers too, for fighters if nothing else.
Its the S3 program, designed to create the next super soldier admiral by inducing an extraordinary situation of stress according to a historical incident.
I want to cook proper bento for the crew with them
>somebody fell into the gears
>ship suffered catastrophic damage
They just don't build them like they used to...
LCS a shit.
The protagonist's name seems to be famous or infamous. Might be that she's getting targeted for political reasons.
I don't belong there. I just enjoy the shit anime not the browser game. Des squad 6 is love though.
She was actually chosen because the powers that be hope she'll be incompetent and fall into the plans.
Lest they know, that she's actually a descendent of Sean Connery and actually a kick arse captain.
There are some odd things in the episode like how the instructor avoids answering her question.
Or how the Secretary talks about a coup on the instructor's ship.
Or the whole your ship is your family on sea thing.
Maybe they won't lead into anything, but stuff seems just a little off.
I'd radio whoever was higher up in the chain of command and surrender, explaining our situation.
I get it, that crazy bitch is trying to teach her a lesson in the most realistic environment, but she went way over the fucking line.
Are you joking? I hope you realize she wont have any screen time.
So the crew is very badly outgunned at the moment. How do you guys see them putting up a fight?
>Harekaze underdogging all the way to the end
>Mid-season upgrade to the Yamato
>Growing mutiny fleet
If option 3, which ships join?
I hope you're enough of a masochist exhibitionist to enjoy your public execution.
This show needs more focus on the ships and less on the girls
They can check the damage down to the bitch's ship and check our torpedoes, determining that it was a dud. I'm not sure what radio system they use but if transmissions are logged it's clear we were not in the wrong. And if they execute someone against all evidence, I never stood a chance to begin with.
What will happen if Haifuri goes the way of Zipang or Ideon? The kill against the LSC is already something that'd earn a destroyer a name in history. The crew's condition will deteriorate as they stay on the run, and it'll only get worse and worse as the WW2 destroyer is thrown against the might of former IJN and JMSDF assets combined.
Girl on the left doesn't wear their uniform or look japanese. They might seek foreign aid for supplies and repairs.
It is all a ruse to throw the most promising young captains into the most dangerous situations and see how they react. Finale will be her sinking Musashi and then get boarded/captured by SF in helicopters.
S2 will show humanity actually fighting a secret war against aliens with the general population not knowing anything. High school fleet (naval) -> college fleet (space)
It's OK nendos are all that matters and as of now we have no Hai nendos.
I'm commanding a random destroyer that is plagued with technical problems, operated by a crew that has no practical training, without supply lines against an entire armada. The only reason these girls stand a chance is plot armor. But okay, if I get the plot armor then harem the ship and form my own Navy of Lesbians taking over other ships.
The instructor is a major cutie.
I want her to suck me off.
>Zumwalt with railguns v. Yamato class destroyer
Okay /k/fags which ship would win?
Tanks, ships, it's all the same shit. War was a mistake.
Zumwalt is not going to make a significant impact to Yamato either way, and the engagement will end with Zumwalt pulling away after having battered away at Yamato's systems and at best immobilizing her rudder. There's no way that Zumwalt will come anywhere close to Yamato's effective firing range of 25k yards.
I'd fill her full of semen, if you know what I mean.
So given the conspiracy
which girl will turn out to be the traitor rat?
I say Rin. Shes too timid to not be a major player in the larger scheme,
That makes it even more like Ideon/Zipang.
If we really want to fuck shit up, we can combine GuP with Haifuri, where the academy ships became a necessity due to tectonic plate movement wreaking such catastrophic damage to all outlaying shoreline that it becomes unavoidable for educational institutions to be shipborne.
A battered Harekaze with a desperate captain Mike asking for any assistance, and Ooarai's academy ship ended up receiving the hail of the most wanted ship in Japanese territorial waters.
Why, this idea sounds better and better the more I think about it.
I can picture the instructor saying to Mike that they would've died a far less painful death had they perish in episode 1 instead of resisting to the bitter end and staining the South China sea in a pool of crude oil and blood.
You will never pull rank and make Mashiro do all kinds of things.
Why even commission?
GuP academy ships are entire orders of magnitude larger than the warships here though. The Ooarai ship could plow straight through any intercepting fleet of smaller vessels with its raw fatness.
Is this the face of a traitor and a hotel hijacker?
The academy ship may be a leviathan hive ship, but it is essentially a civilian vessel with no armament whatsoever. A littoral combat ship would render the small town that's on her deck into a living hell for one.
>Mike-chan gets framed as a traitor to her country
>Moeka-chan is given the task of taking her down with the prospect of becoming a blue mermaid they always dreamed of
>Finale is a showdown between the two old friends in a battle atop the Mushashi's bridge
>Flashbacks of their childhood play during each blow
>Moeka-chan is heavily wounded and tells her friend to finish her and clear her name
>Mike-chan refuses, and starts to recite the Blue Mermaid motto,
>"Live on the sea"
>"Protect the sea" Moeka-chan joins in
>"Sail the sea"
>"That's the Blue Mermaids-"
>Bitch training instructor turns up and shoots Moeka-chan dead, blood splashing onto Mike-chans face
>She turns to Mike-chan, preparing to shoot but the fat cat makes the most movement he has in the entire series and jumps at instructor-cake
>Gun gets knocked out of her hand and she leaves Mike-chan with a cryptic message
>Parting shot is Mike-chan cradling her dead friend and crying
>Next season is revenge
Yes, she's going to be the main rival in the series.
千奈、稚奈 (Chi-na). Perfectly legit name.
Remember the GuP worldview and the designs for the academy ships? They are floating school-cities meant to foster a sense of independence for the students, and they are designed with urban functions in mind, down to even having convenience stores.
>/a/ face when it's a diffrent LCS ship
>/a/ face when This LCS got damaged by Musashi
The one thing I can't get my head over is
When their ship approached the meeting point, everybody else's ship was there too and witnessed the training instructor open FIRE at them clearly with the intent to sink them.
How can that be passed off as a mutiny with tons of witnesses to say "Oh the instructor was firing at them tons first"
>Is this Girls und Warship ?
It's the same script writer.
The thing is, warships are not designed to operate independently for very long. So there is only so much they could do with the "every stay on the ship" angle. The comment about mutiny/treason would need to be discussed in more detail, because it is factually impossible for an unprepared ship to oppose a full navy when they don't even have access to a repair dock or resupply line. In every story where a ship mutinied, the ship captain did so intentionally and as such had a plan for what to do already. I doubt their ship in this anime had anything more than the bare essentials on-board, so they would either have to get back to home port and deal with the fallout, or betray Japan entirely for real and seek foreign aid.
I have no idea where the story is really going. I guess GuP actually had a flash foward to show you where it would lead, but this anime does not offer that luxury.
>When their ship approached the meeting point,
They're still 4 hours away
>everybody else's ship was there too
No, only instructor's ship
>and witnessed the training instructor open FIRE at them clearly with the intent to sink them.
The only report to Haneda base came from their instructor.
>LSC got damaged by Musashi
If that LSC takes even a direct from the 15.5cm secondary guns, then it's likely have massive superstructure damage and not just this listing as you see in the anime, never mind having suffered a direct hit by the 46cm/45.
>Who the fuck name one's daughter "China" in nipland?
No one in Asia actually call China "China", China is a Western name named after Emperor Qin, in Asia China is actually just called the Middle Kingdom. The same way Japanese people don't call their country Japan, but Nippon-koku.
You can see a foreign-looking girl in the promo so maybe they get either outside help or she is from some rebel group or something that will help hero ut.
Or the whole mutiny arc is actually nothing.
You can see other ships clearly in formation. In this shot for example you can see another.
And here. Everyone could clearly see them being bombarded to fuck by the instructos ship.
look here, son
Yea I just play that scene again.
Seems like they got baited into firing by Sarushima. Nowonder they put a literal noname as a captain instead of the top student.
It was mentioned that it would be inaccurate. Okay so even if it wasn't with the intent to sink them, she was using live ammunition which could very well wound or even kill some crew members.
That's still fucking dodgy. She clearly knew what she was doing.
>the girls aren't boats or weapons or past war heroes
This confuses me greatly.
>Then why did they miss?
Ship combat at long range is extremely inaccurate. World of Worships actually exaggerated their accuracy just so the games wouldn't last 3 hours. 5% chance to hit is actually considered good, and you hit by spamming your guns as fast as you can.
This course of events if making me wonder if Mike is going to comparable to Tyler and Yurika from Nadesico in this anime. Hell, can it be that the anime will keep up with this mood whiplash? Nadesico was one where nobodies die by a lot (Daigoji Gai was a nobody) for one.
elite navy stuff, they didn't fire all their weapons, didn't sink the ship...
the only other explanation is some weird evil plan to make nipon navy great again by showing a bunch of girls with a ship is better than the rest of the army?
Kongou's exceptional performance in gunnery drill was 5%, I kid you not. We really would expect about 3% accuracy or less in a capital ship engagement starting from the range of 25000 yards. You are expected to expend most of your ammunition in the process of the gunnery duel.
Of course, that LCS was firing point blank range at Harekaze given how good the FCS is on modern warships. All those misses would almost surely be deliberate.
Even elite navy training wouldn't throw a bunch of highschool girls into the deep end like that. Literally makes no sense, especially when the navigator isn't comfortable and making mistakes.
>WW2 hull design, probly 20kts max
>armed with shitty training weapons
>shitty slap-on weather and comms radar, not even AESA
>no beyond LOS engagement capability, or defenses against such
>crewed by fresh outta land recruits who are also high school girls
>cptn is a baka
Can't wait for them to wreck DDG's, looking forward to next week.
Your face when?
It was so cute when she asked Shino-chan to let her climb on her shoulders.
Their relationship is going to be worth watching this alone for.
I think at this point it is obvious already.
Look at all the promo materials and PV before the the first ep air. They were hiding all the ships. We thought it was going to be a 4girls marine school SoL. The anime is going to have tons of bait and switch.
Urr... anon. Kagerous hit 35 knots. These destroyers aren't small. They are 2000t vessels. The independence class tonnage wise is no more than these hombres. The Kagerous had gas turbine.
You are talking about triple expansion ships prior to WW1 if you are talking about 20 knot vessels. A coal fired engine during the turn of the century will get you that sort of performance envelope.
She can go 35.5 kts. It can also be assumed that since they specifically clarified it was a training torpedo that they have live ones and live rounds too.
I don't see how you can think the captain is stupid. She's done her job, better than could be expected as she already knows all her officers' names and positions.
They better not kill off smug life. I want to see her facial expressions everytime she sinks a ship.
I can think of plenty of places for you to fire your torpedo, captain
She's super cute, you faggot. But I also hope she gets decent development.
If its a bunch of students on a training ship, wouldn't they realistically be trying to figure out WHY they would attempt mutiny? I really hope this series plays out well, thats the kind of hook that makes bluerays sell. Do we have a confirmed episode count?
No don't you're giving me bad thoughts
>You're a commanding officer at Blue Mermaid HQ when you get a call saying one of the ships open fired then fled. The instructor at the scene had her ship heavily damaged and is calling for immediate action.
Mayu a cute! More screentime when? Got to talk when?
It really depends on what the bitch's intentions are at this point. If she is a real traitor they will need to take her down. If it was all just a prank bruh, I hope she gets coutmartialed into kingdom come.
1. Immediately begin a s&r operation
2. Launch an area search for the destroyer
3. suspend all further training exercise until further notice, put the force readiness and port authority on a higher state of alert
4. Begin inquiry.
I just remembered that the Maritime Defence Force is part of the production crew. It makes me able rest easy a little bit, because I don't think they would get involved if the plot is going to go grimdark with dead little girls everywhere.
But how? How to actually have naval combat with torpedoes and artillery, when there was no mention of "sport games" or "carbon lining"?
I would sail on her ship anyday if you know what I mean.
Not even if the entire crew
and shipwas cute little girls?
Like this? Oh hell no. I have no intention of knocking 10 years off of my life by spending my time on board.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>operating war machines
I am amazed that this ship went the same path as GuP in one significant way; they attempted to replicate a whole crew. This is something that is hard to do, as that means lots and lots of characters. I was surprised when GuP had given at least 3 and mostly 4 crew per tank, as that has massive cast blowout. That costs money, as voice actors are paid per day and not by the number of lines. (Voice actors showing up for work generally means they can't be working anywhere else in that same day, so they had to be paid a day rate.)
This means this one ship had the same number of crew as the entire Oorai cast. Which is outragous, as I don't think even Space Battleship Yamato went there with that many named crew.
Time to install Fleet command again
Cause Naval War: Arctic Circle sucks donkey balls
I tried sending this show to a couple of friends, and judging by the vocal reviews online, it seems a lot of people are already dissing the show from the get go outside of /a/.
Are we in bad taste for thinking this might be interesting? Or does everyone secretly think this show is a pile of dog shit?
It's an incompetent torpedo, it's fired.
This isn't a normalfag anime.
They are all over at kabaneri and joker game.
>judging by the vocal reviews online
>it seems a lot of people are already dissing the show from the get go outside of /a/
>dissing the show
>outside of /a/
I have absolutely no idea what the fuck you are doing
>this happen to her too
>it's an elaborate training program to find the ultimate captain
>they will have to fight each other to become blue mermaids
TWO GIRLS ENTER
ONE GIRL LEAVES
Would people be claiming Kircheis is a Gary Stu if he was there?
Yeah we already had genderbent LoGH
There's something truly fishy about the training torpedoes.
The WW2 Nips used training torpedoes that had no explosive and it actually stops running and floats to the surface after it's fired, and they even have bulbs on'em for ease of recovery at night.
It is up to the drilling instructor to decide if a hit is scored.
If only Moeka were here
Original anime never chart this well at the start. It is only behind Macross (famous long running serious) and Bakuon (who has huge bike otaku backing). As long as they can keep up the first ep quality, this show wont be a flop.
>So this is gonna go over well with nips in sales?
This is the first genuine attempt at replicating the GuP formula, it just isn't a sports anime. Every other girls with weapons anime are written before GuP came out, so this show is the first one trying to catch lighting in a bottle a 2nd time. I wish them luck. Remember that we didn't know GuP was going to be any good until 3-4 episodes in.
By the way, the manga runs in the same magazine as NNB.
Well they pretty much set the tastiest looking bait of 'em all and you can bet your ass that the otaku are flocking to it like fish to chum.
[x] Military Moe
[x] Large cast of girls
[x] Potential tragedy/grimdark
This is going to sell without a doubt, I'd take a huge fuckup on Aniplex's side for it not to. The question here is if its going to be as big as GuP, as long lasting as SW, or if its just going to be a decent 10k show trying to make it big in the massive military moe wave.
Except that had good writing written all of it (no pun intended). Miho was nicely introduced establishing that she was a nice and hardworking girl (memorizing the class roster to make friends easily) who had some very dubious circumstances at home ("Oh, right, I'm not at home anymore!"). What do we know of this MC? She is the cookie-cutter happy go lucky girl who will end up saving the day because plot armor. It's the little details.
I've not been this excited about a new anime in awhile. The first episode has so much potential and it could go anywhere at this rate.
At the least it's MC is extremely likeable and despite the huge cast, the what I presume are main girls so far are very good.
And my impression is based off episode one, nothing else. I'm sure she'll simmer down later but she wasn't very likeable so far but I personally have never been a fan of tsunderes.
Is this fanboyism or are you being serious?
GuP didn't pick up for most people until Gloriana. Before then it was people making fun of rainbow camouflage, the 4head characters, and school in a warship stuff. Even then it wasn't even that popular here until Katyusha.
>Do you think this has the potential to be a long-running franchise they're going to milk hard?
The high water mark is GuP. They will try to get that big, but time will tell if it could.
They'd love to be as fucking big as GuP. Though honestly, if they could garner a very loyal fanbase like Strike Witches did then that's good as well. Then again, we're already getting a new SW series sometime this year so there's that too.
On average, I think this will only do as well as Yucky Tuna or at least somewhere between that and Kantai's BD sales.
At worst, this'll be a modest 5-8k hitter.
I like this uniform. Blonde lady looks good too.
Good story telling is what all things concern about.
GuP and YuYuYu(except for the last ep) was decently well constructed.
Haifuri has its potential, contains tasty ingredients, but which does not immediately make the show good.
No seriously. This has the potential to at least reach that level of success. The only way I'd actually see this bombing hard if they go full tragedy and just kill off everything and everyone in a sea of flames amidst a war-torn Japan but even that route has its own ways of enthralling nips.
I haven't watched this yet. Is Wilhelmina already on board? If not I foresee them meeting with a German Uboat ala Pukapukatai aka Lesbian Naval Adventure. I hope she's smelly as well.
You don't know shit about your maritime geography then. They will likely be raped by pirates operating over the Strait of Malacca.
Rape is the only answer when there are so many cute girls in a war situation.
Asanagi can do his usual gimmick about women being weak and slaves of cock, and that's how mermaids are defeated.
For some reason reminds me a little of YuYuYu.
Mutiny aboard the Harukaze! Shiro gets fed up only being second in command and mutinies, turning Akeno into her bitch.
Yuri, femdom, anal, mindbreak, facesitting, bondage, straps,
Can someone ID what ship Harekaze is aiming at in the ED? Also, the ship on the furthest right in the second frame.
It would be
