No, it infact gets worse over time. All the usual criticisms and trappings of long shonen manga apply here in spades. Filler out the ass, little to no character development across hundreds of eps, asspulls, etc.

I wanted a show that could capture the feeling of watching middle of the road anime on TV back in the early 2000s. Even decided to watch it dubbed (something I pretty much never do).

To that effect it achieved its goal. Also the voice casting choices for the dub are...non-typical. A couple arcs in I started hearing the guy who voices Dr. Gero in DBZ:Abridged voicing a major supporting character.

I'm watching the Funimation dub.

The "interesting" casting choices don't stop either. The perfume guy was actually a decent choice, the voice actor for him was actually one of the better ones so far. The Roosterteeth employees are the weakest casting choice though. Michael does a passable job by dub standards but Barbara just drops the ball.

I still laugh at the absurd lengths that the story went to to make the timeskip inconsequential. It's like somebody told the creator that he had made some deal with the devil that would make the series successful so long as he abided by every generic shonen trope, and he really didn't want to bother with this one.
