yeah I suppose. and the writers were still trying to establish K-On as a story and trying to figure out what type of setting would work best. In the end, they decided against the drama and focused more on the cuteness of it, which was the perfect choice. The characters in Keion were highly dynamic. Azusa learned to be more kind, Yui learned how to be tenacious, Mio learned how to be more confident, Mugi learned how to be more social, and Ritsu learned how to be more mature. Every single character changed throughout the story. TLDR you are retarded.

Considering that is a moe comedy SOL and not a drama/serious show the way the girls interact with each other does have gradual changes.
At first they react in an awkward way to each other antics. For example Mio feels betrayed when Mugi agrees with Ritsu in leave practice for later.
But by the time they go to London they more or less know what expect from each other. Azusa takes Mutta with her knowing Yui is going to do the same. Mio follows the "Azucat" joke instead getting mad. Ritsu Yui messy hair without saying a word or making fun of her.
The changes are there even if are minimal.

She's rich and wen't into HS with seemingly no friends. She joined the light music club because she was confused about what she wanted to do. she grew up sheltered and by being with the other girls, she was able to experience what it's like to be normal.

Huge changes here. Yui started out as you're typical baka. she was klutzy, forgetful, and hopeless. but in joining the light music club and in being with the other girls, she was able to overcome this and excel at guitar. Not only this, but she was also able to get better at studying and was eventually able to pass college exams and be with her other band mates.
-Ritsu
Last but not least, Ritsu. She never really had a full grasp on what she wanted to be. She knew that she liked drums, but that was it. Ritsu had no means of making a band and it was only luck that she scraped together enough people to continue the club. Over time, she tries other instruments and realizes that drums are her calling. She becomes more confident in the band and realizes that it's actually a reality instead of just a dream

Keith Moon is a legend for being who he was. For his style and even his weird drum kits. His crazy performances are what gave him his fame but he is not even close to be technical drummer. He always just played simple stuff and it is not really hard to get o his level since Drums is an easy instrument to learn the basics. I mean, once you learn the basics you are ready to play many many Rock/Pop songs.
Keith Moon was a very creative drummer, though, just like Ringo Star, who's another legend and created very nice drum lines, but not really technical. Still i'm a big fan of both.

Their songs may sound easy but some of them are actually kinda hard to play. I'm talking mostly about Character songs and OP/ED singles though. HTT songs (those from the album "Houkago Tea Time II") are easier.
There is a young girl called Senri Kawaguchi who used to cover K-ON songs on drums and she nailed it. She is now a big name of Jazz drumming in Japan. You should definitely check it out, it is pretty entertaining to see her playing those songs.

Azusas guitar is pretty easy most of the time despite having some tricky rhythmic bits. And Yui has some funky stuff. Just mastered Utauyo Miracle and Go Go Maniac which are a blast to play.

For a good set? At the very least $600 with OUT cymbals and accessories. Cymbals are expensive, and you need a good throne and kick pedals too. Overall could run you $1000 for something good

Keyboards/piano are a lot of fun, but they don't feel as tight to me as playing my guitar it's a different feeling. But I definitely recommend everyone to learn how to play for basic musical understanding and experience.

Picking drums as your instrment is a hard decision. You need to be really passionate about it or else you may end up disappointed. It is noisy, it needs space and it is expensive as fuck. I got my first drum set after like 2 years of learning and practicing on a set i buit myself.
Being a drummer is a pain, but nothing comes close to the feel i get when i'm playing it. There is nothing in this world i like to do more than play drums.

As a failed guitarist i find it hard to put Yui above Ritsu, since i could never play her guitar parts. But you are right, Ritsu's drumming is quite fast and challenging, and i had trouble learning some songs even after all these years playing drums.

I can imagine Mugi having a polite a chat with other high social status girls but in the end of the day is just a social obligation not actual friendship contrary to what she had in the club where she even cried like child when confronted with the idea of having to say goodbye to her friends.
Also for Yui I must ad that at first she neglected her personal care S1 but in S2 she tries to look cute and wear pretty among other things and even Ui was surprised to found her sister ready to go to school when she when to her room to wake her up. She still a lazy airhead but like Nodoka said the band influenced her to change for the better. Besides there is no need to make Yui completely competent either since being an innocent airhead is part if her charm.
And part of what I love about the show comes from this small, gradual changes that occur naturally through the course of the story instead if having an obligatory character development episode where the show pretty much tells you how to feel about certain character.
