I don't see how Rei has any positive qualities at all, other than looking good (neither does Asuka).
The only female characters in Eva that seem like they would be nice to be around are pic related and Misato (though that one is debatable).

Rei is ok but they made her too cryptic I think.
Asuka has realistic reactions most of the time which makes her good but she's also fucking edgy.
Yuki was well developed in the movie but a lot of it was omitted by not adapting the sequels.
