aka alone. it seems hard to believe that all the other students go so far out of their way to avoid talking to her in class or picking her in PE. I know she's a loaner but she's often shown in social situations where people flat out ignore her. is this a Japanese thing? we'd at least try to engage the awkward kid, or tease them, any kind of interaction. people flat out don't say a word to her. I wonder if its a cultural thing.
anyway, would you a Tomoko?
well that's even sadder, Tomoko would be bullied if it didn't trigger the author
it´s Japan "unpopular" girls are that still virgins in a country where you get condoms and birth-controll pills of vending machines. Compare how Naruse and Kii-chan talk about her sexual lives.
Tomoko is "unpopular" because reject all those chances of sex of every man that she know.
She's got a reputation for being creepy and inappropriate whenever someone so much as smiles at her. Of course nobody's going to acknowledge she's in the room unless they absolutely have to.
The same man who can make a little girl playing dress up while watching her favorite Slavic romantic historical dramas lewd.
now I know you're trolling. even manga Tomoko is qt
People tend to avoid her because why the fuck not? She can't hold a conversation on her own, and probably pretty much everyone in her class knows this. Unless they absolutely need to, most people wouldn't try trouble her and themselves since the outcome is obvious.
She's manga pretty. Similar to Hollywood pretty, she's "unnattractive" in the way that getting her hair done and taking off her glasses suddenly turns her from a "3" to a 10. In real life, she would probably be painfully homely, like pic related.
Luckily smell-o-vision hasn't been invented yet, because if you could smell how bad she smells, then everyone would refuse to watch the series.
Also, the pic is of some anon who's a lot like her and has that same soulless stare
>implying rotoscoped Nakamura isn't cute
>Women can't be unpopular
>delusional roasties detected
Did you really expect to notice the unpopular women? Only the popular ones get noticed.
>Is that a dick?
Sorry anon, no dick.
>Wait, who's this and why are you posting their images?
Dot-chan, because anons were wondering what an unpopular recluse girl looks like IRL, so I posted her.
Smellovision has been invented. It just hasnt been mass produced because it is expensive and nobody would want it for anything other than maybe cooking shows (and masturbation sessions for a handful of fetishists too ashamed to dish out 4000 dollars on such a product)
>Smellovision has been invented.
>watching zombie movies in smellovision
>She went up and down
She sure did!
it's already been stated she doesn't stink, that's just a misunderstanding because of her yandere boys cds and getting that idol recording
>people are still using the tomoko is ugly meme
No, if you want to see ugly, look at the stereotypical anime depiction of an otaku fan at idol concerts : middle aged, fat, sweating, wearing a backpack, a wife beater and jeans.
THAT is ugly.
Tomoko is cute.
please give some examples of tomoko being ugly personality wise then.
Also, she's a girl, there are NO shortage of guys who would simply not give a fuck and would be nice to her because they want to fuck her.
The fact that there is ZERO guys like that in this series is breaking suspension of disbelief.
Well, you can all just kiss off into the air
Behind my back, I can see them stare
They'll hurt me bad, but I won't mind
They'll hurt me bad, they do it all the time (yeah, yeah!)
Yeah, they do it all the time (yeah, yeah!)
They do it all the time (do it all the time!)
I recently started reading this shit and I love it.
Post cute Tomoko
You've never heard the term ugly-cute have you?
>Girls have it so easy
Crazy how you can always tell the difference between Watamote threads of mostly people who have only watched the anime vs. one where most people are actively reading the manga.
Can you guess which one this is?
Guys probably don't talk to her cause their friends would make fun of them, that and tomoko is in no way an easy to approach person. Everyone in her class thinks shes werid, it's just not really shown.
anon, please, even adult journalists have written columns admitting that they pretended to be sick so that their partners would rush over to comfort them, let alone lie to look better than they really are.
I'm guessing you've never talked to a female friend and had them go "oh shit i need to clean my room, my panties are all over the panties and my boyfriend is coming over"?
I used to do that
suck it 7 year olds
That's what they get for not knowing how to read yu-gi-oh cards
>anon, please, even adult journalists have written columns admitting that they pretended to be sick so that their partners would rush over to comfort them
It's not just girls. It's people in general.
I'm too lazy to link you manga chapters, but like remember that part in the anime when she steps on the roach and listen to what her class thought? They weren't flatterd, then in the manga she got caught looking at dicks in class on her phone. I'm sure there's more. Whenever anyone talks to her Tomoko puts up a mile thick wall of autism and people most likely know that so she's hard to approach. As far as guys not talking to her, I could beleive that, if any guy talked to her the rest of the class would just assume he's trying to take advantage of this meek little, raggedy girl. Also it's shown that alot of the popular guys are already trying to get with other girls. And the nerds are to beta to talk to her or have other girls in mind, I'd assume.
there were 2 guys in school who no one would go near and there's a girl in my class who no one speaks to and just seems to disappear the second that class ends
it's pretty common for people to just bealone
There are female football (soccer or whatever) players too, doesn't mean they are at all relevant.
Anyway, let's not argue semantics, have a nice day anon.
There's this quiet qt Asian girl in my classes who always wears a hood. I saw her speaking with someone who looked like her friend. I spoke to her twice, but otherwise have rarely heard her speak.
I don't know what I'm blogging about...
I think it works if we take the story progression into account. to start with, she's a Y1 in HS where she doesn't know anyone (except Komi-something, who she hates anyhow and doesn't even notice until Y2). she doesn't engage anyone in Y1 and the rest of the class is pretty cliquey.
Y2 is much better for her; Nemo recognizes her and talks to her, a couple of girls mention her as a 4th member of their group (before they leave her out to dry with Homeroom/Coach bitch and she has to be a group leader), and then being a group leader gets her acquaintances and even people to eat lunch with (plus a counter-stalker in Sheep-chan). even though she's pretty rude to her, Delinquent-chan is tolerant of Tomoko. her and Komi have some common ground, and she's always been socially active, if usually by herself (going to coffee shops, manga shops, the arcade, etc).
in other words, she's really not unpopular and is getting better with each chapter. she's certainly doing a lot better than most people on 4chan.
>women can't be unpopular
What does "popular" even mean anymore once you become an adult? Once you finish high school the only social hierarchies you are part of are those you choose to join.
Nah, I knew a guy in my Maths class during Grammar School. Literally never said a word to anyone, never held a conversation, always had a blank stare, and never did well grade wise. He wasn't even Autistic, he was never in the Special Needs meetings
unlike me.I could buy Tomoko being left to the wayside.
Also, I was fairly close to Tomoko as well, even if I was a little more confident in some respects. I was never invited anywhere, never really approached by anyone, and didn't really have any friendship groups, which gave me a crippling sense of inferiority only my academic success could fill, but besides that, I was never bullied or teased, and when I left, and talked to some of the guys who were there, they said I was practically the only person whom everyone liked, because they considered me nice and non-judgemental, despite, hell maybe because of the fact they never really go to know me all that well. I even did the whole "going to a separate room far away to spend your lunchtime" thing.
it's just like the title of the show says, in her mind it's not really her fault that she's unpopular, it's everyone elses. she constantly blames everyone around her for how she is so it's natural to think that no one would want to be around someone so negative.
i'm sure some shy otaku at school probably would make a pass at her, but she'd most likely interpret it some other way to meet her mental agenda. Tomoko doesn't actually want friends, she just wants to be given attention and be liked, and people like that rarely develop actual deep friendships.
she actually shows off many signs of borderline personality disorder, such as hurting herself (the vacuum), constant depression, constant need for attention, black and white thinking about everyone else around her, manipulating people, etc.
tl;dr Tomoko isn't unpopular because she's uggo, she's unpopular because she's a psychopath and a shitty person. Anon may THINK that she just is hurt and has a sweet heart inside they can unlock... but really you're fooling yourself. she's nuts.
>and when I left, and talked to some of the guys who were there, they said I was practically the only person whom everyone liked, because they considered me nice and non-judgemental
What a twist!
I feel like I wanted to be Tomoko, but somehow I'm too good at making friends? I went into high school determined to be a lone wolf and never talk to anyone. I was never really invited to any parties, I wasn't /that/ cool, but I did end up being voted as most likely to succeed somehow. And I was one of those guys that could bullshit and hang out with any group, not being relegated to just one particular clique.
Still never had a gf though
>Tomoko doesn't actually want friends, she just wants to be given attention and be liked
There's more to friendships than being liked? Like what?
Holy fuck, are you me?
Too bad we can't suck each other off in the parking lot.
At least we can mentally masturbate each other about our taste in anime.
There are genuine moments of sweetness that occasionally shine behind that self-loathing and horribly anti-social condition she has placed herself in.They are really rare though. She's a terrible person, but even terrible people are still people. Do you remember that little loli Tomoko on the videotape that smiled freely and loved her brother? She was happy once. People who hate the world like Tomoko weren't born miserable.
It's also not impossible for people with her mindset to fight their way out of that mental hole and become better people while learning to care about others. It's just not an easy change whatsoever. When someone has been mentally conditioned to think no one cares about them it is not easy to place caring about other people above trying to show that they're someone you should care about.
For Tomoko it has been incredibly slow-going. Even now as she's making acquaintances she seems to be fighting every major change in her social status with other people. But there is progress. It's just some of the slowest personal progress I have ever seen in an anime. I doubt Tomoko will ever become a good person, but maybe there's a chance she won't always be a piece of shit.
I'm not popular so I'll make millions through predatory loans and money laundering!
i knew a girl like tomoko that actually wasn't ugly or fat
she was a really quiet palestinian girl that had huge anxiety. Nobody really liked her, i certainly didn't because my last name (((ECHOES))) but thinking back it was pretty sad because she'd eat alone and try not to talk to anyone when if she was more out going and her personality was less abrasive she would have had a lot of friends
even unpopular women still wind up popular is some queen of of the nerds type role. Face the fact that men crave sex more than women, and will put up with literally anything to maintain female company. Meanwhile, women get to pick and choose what type of attention they receive because there's never a shortage.
there was a manga chapter about Tomoko considering becoming queen of the nerds by buying Smash Brothers and playing with the otakus in class but wound up playing a BL game alone instead
>they said I was practically the only person whom everyone liked, because they considered me nice and non-judgemental,
"Classmates of the perpetrator told this reporter that they could not understand why he had committed this outrage, saying that he had always seemed so nice and non-judgmental."
Dead and buried, after a deliciously ironic death. Something like she's about to throw herself off a bridge, decides she has too much to live for, then slips and falls off anyway.
a part of me just died inside while I watched that image.
>even unpopular women still wind up popular is some queen of of the nerds type role
No they don't. If they were truly unpopular you wouldn't notice them- at all. What you're describing is someone who isn't THAT popular. Stinky and mentally ill people like Tomoko aren't popular.
