It depends on who you ask. I really enjoy Gunbuster, but Diebuster feels cheep in comparison, even if it has some really nice designs for the robots, it feels like it'd be better marketed as something not connected to Gunbuster in the slightest (other than the ending).

It'll be worth it in the end. Just keep in mind they were made more than a decade apart, and anime changed in that time.

One thing I really enjoy about Diebuster is how it gives Sadamoto designs justice with very nice animation. Rebuild just went full chins.

I like diebuster, it's great and only has a few flaws.
I love gunbuster even more though, rewatched it countless times.
BUT
I only rewatch the last two eps and the ep where she finds her father's ship. The ace wo nerae shit doesn't do anything for me.
