>he watches English dubs
what's your excuse /a/?
Because Cromartie High School's dub is fun, fuck you
I only watch dubs when the characters are too white for the japanese. A good example, not anime I know, is Final Fantasy, the twelfth being the most adequate to play with an english dub.
Because I don't like looking at the bottom of the screen
to see what the characters are saying
and I can't speak Japanese
I refuse to believe anyone that wants to stay current with anime would wait for a "dub" to come out these days. I just can't accept it.
Any show where the JP seiyus speak broken Engrish just ruins a scene. Zankyou no Terror comes to mind. The Psycho Pass movie.
I'll take a dub over broken Engrish from an Eleven any day.
Also dubs for mindless filler shows. I'll watch subs when it's a good show and I really want to give it my full attention.
>having to continuously pause just to read the subtitles
Because G Gundam, that's why.
BLACK LAGOON'S SUB WAS BETTER. The scene at the end of the second season makes a lot more sense when she can't speak english.
You know what? That is the only answer I would accept.
Unless your Moonspeak is decent, it's hard to get the same level of campy enjoyment out of Japanese audio and subs in that show.
I'm gonna give you an actual answer
With anime that is very quote-heavy, let's take Gurren Lagann as example,
I remember the quotes better than japanese.
The final "WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK WE ARE" is way more powerful this way and you can remember it better.
Single one-liner such as Omae wa mou shinderou can be remembered as well but as soon as we get to great monologues
the sub is a negative aspect.
That being said, in general sub is still better but some anime work better with dub when it has memorable/repeated quotes
This is a bad meme like the same level bad as buying anime. I am all in for hot spicy dank memes but this is one just horrible.
>In the end, the Japanese wanted that, they approve the cast.
>That's something alot of people don't realize, it isn't just all up to the Americans to decide, "Well we want our buddies in it."
>No, it's decided by the Japanese, they listen to it, and if they like it, they approve it.
>There's been times that I've been recast in shows.
(Black Star of Soul Eater, Ikaros of Heaven's Lost Property, Rose Sheedey of Red Garden)
I watch both subs and dubs. Sometimes subs are better. Sometimes dubs are better. Who cares.
>not reading subs with your peripheral version
