Finally caught up. God, Chronophantasma was a mess. Why did Celica and Kagura have to hog all the screentime? Does Japan not like Ragna and Noel as the leads or something because it felt like these two characters were designed to replace them because they're the complete opposite of those two

Celica's a beckon of hope, Noel's an anomaly of unpredictable results.

Kagura and Celica's actions directly fuck the bad guy's plans. Ragna and Noel's actions actually help the bad guy's plans.

Ragna and Noel start out imperfect but improve with character development.

Celica and Kagura start out already perfect with their flaws being little more than excuses for gags.

I kinda don't like them, Celica's nothing but an emotional crutch to Ragna,Nine and Rachel, and Kagura's desperately trying to add Noel to his conquests and possibly even wrangle a threesome between her,him and Makoto.

They suck and I'd rather have the next game focus on Izanami,Ragna and Noel, especially because Ragna somehow returned from being a black beast and Noel somehow recovered from her beatdown enough to track down and bring Lambda back to life. I hope this is a sign of things looking up for them in the fourth game.

Not really. Kagura has plenty of flaws. He's arrogant, overconfident, too optimistic and relies on his subordinate to get much of his work done. And while he is the strongest soldier in the NOL he's not that powerful compared to the heavy hitters in the setting. By the way, he does rely on Ars Magus to do so and the fact he lacks any special weapons does limit him. He admits that Ragna with the Azure grimoire is stronger than him, he can barely match Azrael's strength with all his limiters on for a short time when going all out and Izanami takes him out like a chump near the end of CP. He has a large role in the story of CP but sits out the climax. Kagura is pretty much irrelevant at this point. His plan to replace the government doesn't mean much when almost all of humanity has disappeared. Also every woman he hits on tells him off, other than Noel who doesn't understand what he wants, and many male characters are annoyed by his cocky attitude so he's far from universally loved. Sure the population claims to love him, but the NOL is a totalitarian regime so people would be pretty stupid to say that they hate him. In CF it's even revealed that if Kagura's plan had succeeded it would have resulted in a revolution against him that would get him killed by the angry populace.

Celica isn't really perfect either. She's actually rather dumb and not really skilled. Other than her healing she is a double-edged sword since her seithr nullification power affects her allies more than it does her enemies. I did like the fact that she isn't whiny but instead shows quite a bit of determination.

I also liked the fact that Mai's benevolence was justified by her background. Mai was rather similar to Makoto in that respect since Makoto too found friends that accepted her at the academy for the first time and came to really value them as a result.

Think of the grimoire used to determine a someone's aptitudes that is used on new students at the military academy or the climate control grimoire that regulates the climate of Torifune for example. Even the Hypnagogia grimoire that you mentioned only had an adverse effect on Mai because she accidentally used her supertaste ability on it.

Sentient grimoires like the Nameless Grimoire seem to be an exception. Even the Azure Grimoire has given no indication of having a will of its own. A lot of LN materials got put into the main spotlight of CP and Naoto just sounds like such a terrible generic MC archetype that you would see in a lot of popular LNs just got me scared and it doesn't help that he apes a lot of Ragna's story elements. I think it's best to withhold judgement until you've seen the actual character rather than relying on summaries you read online. After all it's trivial to make Ragna sound as bad as Coldsteel the Hedgeheg: Angry guy (who's actually an artificial human raised by a talking cat) with spiky white hair and heterochromia dressed in black and red who hates and wants to destroy the government because a dude in a fedora that loves knives cut off his arm when he was a kid. Also a vampire gave him a magic arm that eats people's souls and he now uses the POWER OF DARKNESS to fight, but if he uses it too much he will turn into a monster that will destroy the world.

The BB story has problems but I'm pretty sure Mori wouldn't do something that would so obviously piss off BB fans. Ragna tends to top popularity polls for male BB characters. Why would he replace him?

That really sounds interesting.
First, give her a moveset a little slower that Makoto (but not level Tager, just a LITTLE slower) but with more chances of having combos or recovery and all of that. Giving what you sayed, the best way of using her drive would be something like 3 variations fighting styles. Like Dante from DMC series. But works like this.

Either infinite or with time limit. Once filled, you ALWAYS avoid the opponent's drive, kinda like Epitaph from King Crimson. DD is basically Auto Prediction, full Epitaph.

The Xblaze world is pretty different from that of BB. Izayoi is a spear created by an ancient civilization with the ability to seal away its target for example. Sechs and Ragna aren't related. Chimelical Complex is a rather poor adaptation of Calamity Trigger. The manga titled Blazblue was a better adaptation of Calamity Trigger and of Continuum Shift but only the 1st volume was ever scanlated.

Remix Heart is an prequel and original story taking place at the time some of the characters attended a military academy. It can be pretty fanservicey and silly at times, but I enjoyed it. It has more serious moments and action and I enjoyed the main character. She's likable and the series spends a fair bit of time establishing her personality and background and showing how it develops.
