I wouldn't say the exposition gets less, but it does become less noticeable apart from a few exceptions.

As for the fight-scenes, there's sort of a structure to it: Usually 2 episodes of set-up, 1 episode entirely focused on combat.
The SnK set-up.

I feel like IBO plays better when you can marathon it, because otherwise you have to wait half a month before there's any kind of climax, which is pretty annoying.
