>hi I'm an ordinary japanese highschooler but due to an accident I was transported/reincarnated in a medieval fantasy world which works like jrpg
>I've come from a different world! There's a dragon problem, and we need your help!
>Finally, I can be a hero-- why am I the dragon?
>Just think of me as your manager. Now, go fight that knight.
>An ordinary high school boy who doesn't know he has a special power
Is it better or worse when he actually has no special skills?
>Teenage boy who has a demon/vampire/evil spirit/monster inside him that makes him really powerful.
>Main character is in high school.
>Lots of fan service.
>Extremely high luck stat
>he was just an average highschool boy until [insert event] and he met this mysterious girl
>now his entire normal life is upside down
>this normal high school boy is the heir to some billionaire company
>secretly descendant of kung fu masters
>engaged to queen of france or some shit
>BUT MY NORMAL LIFE WAS DISTURBED WHEN "EVENT" HAPPENED
>MC's friend puts on glasses.
>MC can't recognize him any more.
>evil guy teleports behind someone and start talking
>they only react in shock after he's finished talking
>hi I'm an ordinary japanese highschooler but I'm also a demon
>I just want a normal boring life though
>accidental boob grab when he first meets the girl
I love this meme because it overrides the three episode rule.
>Shoulder length black hair and main attire is the plain school uniform unless outside of school in which case it is a plain t-shirt
>He's a loser. Why do you like him?
>Because he's so kind.
>He is 17
>He doesn't fap
>Zero intrest in girls
>All the girls crave for his dick
>Doesn't even know it
>MC walking in the hallway not paying attention to where he's going
>bumps into love interest
>they drop their books
>3 minutes long
>turns out to be AOTS anyway
>the smartest/the most attractive girl walks the school corridor
>everyone goes "Shhh, stop talking! The ojou-sama is here!" and proceed to stare in awe
>guy is taking a shower
>retarded girl is retarded and doesn't hear the shower and walks in
>after standing wide open for 22 minutes and 13 seconds she starts hitting the guy
Dropped. Instantly. Fuck the 3 episode rule.
>traditional japanese beauty with pale skin and black hair
>has blue eyes
Started reading Kiss x Death.
If I didn't read some of the later chapter before reading the first one, I would have dropped it instantly.
5 fucking girls standing in the street and literally everyone and their grandmother are standing around them, drooling and looking at them at awe, getting the whole city to a standstill until they go away. Because fuck reason, they are hot.
>she acts like a slut
>but she's actually pure
>blonde hair and blue eyes
>"so MC, what's your motivation"
>"To protect my friends!"
>his "friends" are people he met 20 minutes ago
>muh teen angst
>muh fitting in
>"WOOOAH! PROTAG ACTING ALL COOL AND COMPOSED IN FACE OF THE BIG EVIL GUY THAT'S STARING HIM DOWN! WHAT FEARLESSNESS! HE'S PROBABLY ABOUT TO SAY SOMETHING UTTERLY BADASS TO HIM!"
>Says something completely mundane
>"PROTAG YOU SHOULD BE TAKING THIS MORE SERIOUSLY!!!"
>overpowered as fuck character
>has a small weakness like "cant cook" or "bad sense of direction" and that´s supposed to balance that out
>Character says something wacky
>everybody jumps up and screams "WOW THE CHARACTER SAID SOMETHING WACKY, THIS IS WACKY BECAUSE THEY SAID SOMETHING WACKY AND OUT OF PLACE"
I am not a fan of the boke and tsukkomi routine when it comes down to explaining the joke immediately.
>There´s random german words mixed in everywhere
Sometimes it's okay, but when it's literally just explaining or repeating the joke it's awful. If you're lucky it's just one character's short comment reacting to it.
Gintama has a bit where they mention foreigners watching/reading it not getting the routine, anybody got that screencap?
>his crippling flaw is being merely average looking
>Character says something to his friend that is suppose to be sad or motivating.
>his friends respond by saying his name,
>Annoying and reduntant thank you scene that lasts for 3 min.
>Mina! hontoni arigato!!!!! *cries*
>Someone gets hurt
>someone gets scared
>Any arrogant laugh
>character gets angry, emotional, frustrated
>angry character clutches fists
>leather tightening sounds
>character wants to say some phrase in another language to sound smart
>it's a tvtropes thread
hell, you guys would probably enjoy digging through tvtropes more than having a thread about this stuff on 4chan
Japanese High Schooler and reincarnated are the only things that fit DxD in OP's statement. DxD's set-up is more of a WSJ battle series than a WN turned LN reincarnation series that OP referred to.
>character freeloads in main character's house, leeches off them, eats their food, rearranges or damages the house
>is told to get out
>main character never throws them out despite clearly not wanting them there
It's not like it's impossible for Western audiences to understand the boke/tsukkomi routine, there's plenty of western examples too. It's just that Japanese people have an issue regarding describing everything.
>Insecure nerdy antisocial guy has every single girl in school lusting after his pecker
>Confident fun-loving jock dude is rejected all the time and made the butt of every joke
Something doesn't seem right here
>hi I'm a veteran (insert competent skilled work here) but do to an accident I was transported /reincarnated in a medieval fantasy world
>MC walks into his own bathroom
>Gets shit kicked out of him because some stupid bitch could not lock the door.
>Japanese families leave their homes to their 14 year old children unattended while the parents work abroad.
>someone gets a scrape or a bruise
>"sensei!!! i'm taking anon-kun to the nurses office!!"
>anon-kun misses school for a few days afterwards.
>female character drinks alcohol
>crippling alcoholism treated as endearing character quirk
>the competent skill is being an otaku
>DUDE YOU KNOW ALL ABOUT ELVES AND SHIT. FIX OUR COUNTRY.
>Main villain beats the fuck out of the MC and his friends with little to no damage done to him.
>With everyone down, MC gets up for one final round.
Don't know why but I enjoy this a lot. It was well done in Rurouni Kenshin with Shishio.
>/a/'s favorite anime of the season is pure, mindless garbage but you watch it anyways cause /a/ does
>open can of beer
>take a big gulp
>harem with obvious winner drags on foverer because autists will get mad when the winner wins.
>tfw no veteran soldier reincarnation stories
jsdf isn't a real army
>tons of fanservice/filler but rushed end
>Never get a confession or kissu because the girl is supposed to "stay pure"
>>/a/'s favorite anime of the season is pure, mindless garbage but you watch it anyways cause /a/ does
Mobster musume and Girls und panzer are great examples.
That's women in general.
Thought you were talking about the Shishio fight for a moment and was about to correct you. Anyways.
>Mc is the most insufferable faggot in the universe
>His manga sells like hot cakes
Fuck Black Clover.
I´d watch it.
>some shitty enemy is about to kill MC's friend
>MC easily defeats the enemy instead
>WAAHHHH I TOLD YOU TO RUN WHY DIDN'T YOU LISTEN TO ME
>I didn't run because you're my NAKAMA who I have to MAMORU!
>MC is a nice guy who solves everyone's problems
>everyone else just happens to be a cute girl
>"I'm not cute or good-looking like (blank)-chan... I'm just boring and plain..."
>looks just as attractive as the rest of the female cast (if not more) because of the art-style
>MC helpe a girl to carry heavy books
>omg MC-kun you're the first person ever who was so kind to me! I want your D!
Have you seen the threads? That's /v/'s favorite.
Kono suba and Outbreak Company should probably get some leeway for being parodies rather than completely sincere.
There's Overlord if you don't count the high schooler part as being essential.
>I'm not pretty at all!
>Why are all these silly boys hitting on me?
Every time I see this, I want to smack whoever wrote it.
>Britannia invades Japan
>They adopt Japanese as their language, while still calling Japanese filthy subhuman 11's
>Middle Easterners speak Japanese while getting destroyed by Britannia, who also are speaking Japanese
>main female character ends up with someone other than the MC, who she is just friends with
>/a/ calls it an NTR series
>Everyone either ignores or shuns a girl because she looks "cold/creepy"
>She´s actually super-model-tier when she takes off her glasses or smiles
>funimation picks up a show
>only fansub alternative is commie
>ugly girl goes to school
>the hottest most popular guy in school, the bad boy who is actually a nice guy and also the second hottest guy in school, and a prince from another country all fall in love with her.
It´s kinda like magical girls at this point where you have to parody everything
>An ordinary high school boy who doesn't know he has a special power
I want to see a show about an ordinary high school boy who is convinced that he has supernatural powers, but really he's just normal.
>boob physics are actually implemented into and progress the plot
You got the good half. All around my campus are these pale fuckers with creamy brown hair and weird eyes. It's weird. You know how mulatto kids are usually just seen as black? Half-Asian kids aren't like that. They're usually stuck in between.
>720p batch of a 12 episode comedy slice-of-life series
>You´re watching too many shoujos/otomes, anon.
>try to find old show
>only good nyaa torrents of it have no seeders
>google the bakabt version
>THIS TORRENT HAS BEEN BANNED
>he then proceeds to post in cake threads
>Verge of defeat
>"Don't give up"
>Everyone is refeshed / powers up
>go to /a/
>get called a faggot
>buy a external harddrive
>use nyaa and bakabt, the most used trackers, to download animus
>get called a faggot
>decided to directly receive series with IRC
>get called a faggot for not buying the blurays
>buy the blurays
>">actually buying chineese cartoons"
There are tons of antecedents like Rayearth and .hack from before it had become a complete cliche. The current wave seems to be more of an LN trend, so as someone who doesn't follow them very closely because I can't into Japanese and fan translations suck
and because LNs suckit's hard for me to guess at what started the recentish trend among novels since I'm mostly exposed to their adaptations.
>Romantic interests in anime
>People think that [Not first girl] will win the MC
>People who pick first girl always smug shits throughout and go insane when she inevitability wins
You have no idea what it was like in the bad old days. Be happy that you live in the age of simulcasting, it's much better than it was when there were a million sub groups subbing the same three shows every season competing to boost their e-penis size.
>character is in preschool
>lots of fanservice
>implying I would ever be stupid enough to be a streamfag or buy BDs
>takes place in the future and Japan is somehow a dominant world power
>general Japan/Japanese people are so amazing circlejerking
Trapped-in-another-world is as old as time itself, it just moved into game-inspired/based worlds over time as that got popular.
I am a sucker for it when it's done right.
Do you want me to post more laughing smug?
>Japs too pussy to show underage drinking
>so character gets drunk from soda/juice
>deleting anything ever
How are you going to teach your nieces and nephews about shitty anime?
>character goes to location/country/world where their clothes are extremely out of place and make them look extremely odd
>never change clothes
Trapped in another world is quite old. Wish fulfillment "reborn into a game world where my highly polished neet MMO skills make me the best" type trapped in another world stories are a rather recent trend though.
>MC goes to past and replaces historical figure
>somehow it does the same things as in the books
God I love this shit
I don't watch any shows that I think will be trash/enjoyable. And if they are I'll just do the ol' DROP N' DELETE. Might as well download episodes since streaming is basically downloading except it's temporary and rewinding to a previous scene uses bandwidth. I also enjoy making webms of good scenes,
Except most shows each season didn't get subbed and 3/4 of the groups didn't even appear to have someone who spoke Japanese on staff. Also you waited days, sometimes up to a week, to get watchable subs.
Even shitty speed subs often weren't same day. And when I say shit, I mean shit. AnimeJunkies was a speed sub group.
>HI my name is [insert badass sounding name] and im the[insert action verb] man alive.
>When i was 5 my mother was killed by something impossible, and my dad was sent to prison for her murder. Then an "accident" made me the impossible.
>To the outside world im an[insert job] but secretly i use my[insert superpower] to fight crime and find others like me.
>And one day, Ill find the one who killed my mother and get Justice for my father..
>For im,[Insert superhero name in all caps]!!!
>fansubs are far superior because REASONS
You gotta cite those reasons buddy. The biggest tip i can give you is that they dont exist.
Translation errors happen in something thats getting done on short notice. In general though the guys at funi or cruncyroll do a job that is as good or better than the better sub groups of old.
Ive been here over 10 years and the last 3 or 4 really have upped the average quality of translations. Anything that crops up now is nothing you didnt see but 10 times worse years ago.
>Be reborn into game world
>It doesn't fulfull my wishes at all
Unless you're a entry-level casual pleb or a /v/-tier shitposting retard then it's fine.
>I want to see a show about an ordinary high school boy who is convinced that he has supernatural powers, but really he's just normal.
>series ends abruptly when MC-kun is hit by a stray bullet from a driveby
A lot of the rips weren't that great back then though, and if you can wait a day you can get the a TV rip with the simulcast subs muxed onto it anyway. Which is still faster than you'd wait for equivalent quality back then.
>Just use animebytes.
That's a private tracker and I have really slow upload speed. Can't use those without getting banned for "leeching" despite having the torrents seeding for a damn long time.
Did it back in the 80s
Plebs won't recognise her though
Haven't you guys watched any Plinkett reviews? You need an "ordinary" protagonist when using a fantasy or sci-fi setting in order to explain stuff happening to the audience and having someone to identify to.
>A boy falls in love with a girl.
Unable to confess, he is gifted with by a deus ex machina with the girl’s phone number. Never minding the strange area code, he immediately calls her, and is overjoyed to find out that she has a crush on him as well.
But, the next day, when he recounts the previous day’s confessions to the girl, she only looks at him with a perplexed expression. After some investigation, he finds out that the girl he called is not the same girl he fell in love with. In fact, she doesn’t exist in this universe at all. She is the girl’s alternate universe counterpart, who has fallen in love with the MC’s own AU self, who too is blissfully unaware of her crush.
Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves. While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of LOVE.
Every time I see the word Academy along with Magic and harem I just want to smash something.
Like forget banning pirating or banning doujins this fucking piece of junk style show should be erased.
That's not true at all and tons of decently written science fiction/fantasy gets around it.
Common ways around it include relying on assumed genre knowledge of the audience, and just not doing an info dump of things the character already knows and conveying those things through environmental storytelling. /a/ of course is well know to react poorly to the latter.
Ordinary Japanese school girl transported to a fantasy world where she becomes the Demon King in
an eroge series
>girl is a rich beautiful genius, probably amazing at sports too, whatever
>saudi princes and shit come all the way to japan just to ask her out and she turns them all down
>falls completely in love with MC because he held a door open for her once or something
>not falling in love with a mysterious swordsman instead
>MC is a fan of some famous idol or singer
>she randomly comes into his life one day
Nah. She falls in love with her Senpai who follows her
>not falling for the guy with issues until the last minute when you find out you can actually go home after helping him save his previously dying world and whatever mystical reason you got summoned for has been successfully resolved
It´s more about having a self-insert than explaining stuff really.
>most beautiful girl in school is called Hime-sama
>everyone acts with love, respect and devotion towards here
>she talks with generic MC
>everyone looks at him with killing intent, calls him names or even hits him
What the fuck is wrong with Japan and their fanclubs for random girl?
>MC is the descendant of Sherlock Holmes and is retarded beyond measure
>he doesn't self insert as the female
>little girl is the head of a police investigation unit
>iq of 1300
>MC's father turns to be one of the most powerful characters in the franchise
>He wants to romance cute boys
Anon, pls. That´s kinda gay.
>best girl has great chemistry with MC through the entire show
>there's another girl but she's just a bitch and pretty boring
>suddenly MC decides to go for the bitch for no reason right at the end
I'm still mad. Fuck you Okada.
>there is something about the protagonist that could potentially make him an interesting character
>instead he acts just like an average young boy
Thank you, Hataraku Maou-sama, ERASED, and Charlotte.
>the writers never have the balls the kill off the main cast but try to make us care when some minor extra or walk-on dies
At least there´s one good scene with Maou when he gets super-pissed. And Charlotte MC was just straight-up disappointing.
>MC is ridiculously powerful
>author obviously doesn't have the balls to kill main cast off
>end of episode is a cliffhanger of MC being supposedly in danger
>"huh? tears...? why am I...?"
>two characters having a goofy argument after a sentimental scene
>third character looking at them wide-eyed, camera zooming in on their face while you can still hear the other two characters
>arguing characters stop and turn to look at third character while saying "mm?!"
>a group of side characters do something for MCs sake
>MC looks down with shaded eyes while smiling
>"Minna wa... [adjective] dayo"
>MCs friends gasp/say MCs name
>MC is in a setting where she's having fun
>all MCs friends can do is make remarks about how MC is reacting to things
>idol gushes over MC like any other girl
>refuses a disguise
>no mention of paparazzi outside of gags
>cheeky hints to possible scandal with no pay-off like she wouldn't be crucified
>MC is genius mastermind
>Has two lives as schoolboy by day and terrorist mastermind Zero at night
>Doesn't simply stage his death in the beginning so that he only has to act as Zero, making things easier and not involving his loved ones
>Anon is a skill-less, NEET loser
>Gets transported to another imageboard
>Suddenly able to be conmpetent and get over all of their issues plaguing them in the previous imageboard
Kek, it's always weird when I transplant myself to different boards and it's like a whole new culture, even though it's all 4Chan.
/sp/ was hard for me to get a hold of until I went full shitpost mode and how to shitpost effectively.
>iyashikei genre slice of life anime
>3 guys 3 girls
>the guys aren't even cute
>inevitable romance breaks out in season 2
I have only read the slime one, the goblin one and overlord, but they all suffer from the same problem, either the main character is playing with god mode one, or they have this one special skill that only 1 person in 1000000000000 will get.
And of course after that it becomes a boring hell where the main character cannot be touched and every bitch is lusting after him because he was "nice" to them.
At least the fap material is nice.
>only the main characters are animated and have actual character designs. The rest are shitty CGI 5 copy pasted models between boy and girls.
You're full of shit, the first anon came out as a crossboarder that needs time to get used to other boards, second anon said he needed more for here, there's no telling anybody to fuck off. Also every single person on this site knows about the exploding van, stop talking like you know shit.
