When people say support, they mean moral support.

SOMEONE has to buy those BDs for the studios to earn their yen. And if it sells well, maybe their distributors (i.e. Jewplex) will give said studio a bigger piece of the pie for their next project.

Fuck off 3DPD.
>>
>>138372359
Didn't you ever learn about supply and demand? If there's a demand for a manga in the US then a publisher is going to fill that void in the market by first purchasing the distribution rights from the producers. By buying the books you are keeping the distribution company up and running to continue with future projects.

I masturbate to doujinshi on a pirate site with adblock on to support the industry.
>>
>>138372359
Yes and ?
The studio get money from the production committee for their subcontract-work, nothing less.

If the BD is really profitable, then the studio may get a small amount of it. But the objective isn't selling BDs though, it's to boost the merchandise / original source.
>>
What if I buy them to have physical representations of things I like?

Except they do. Especially in the manga industry.
>>
>>138372359
Depends on the studio and stuff doesn't it?

Gunpla and basically most kid shows probably do get some form of revenue because of that, since usually they dont get high disc sales.

Bamco probably makes a shit ton of money off merchandise and not a lot off actual anime sales.
>>
I'll turn off adblock if I want to support an industry.

I buy physical media because I'm old fashioned & retarded.
>>
You realze "the industry" means more than just the studios right?

I want to support the industry but I don't like having to keep many physical copies of anime or manga in my room.

It's an indirect flow of money, and a certain amount of it is capital to work on the next project rather than reward for the existing project, but it does help.
>>
>>138372359
>get practically none of this money
That's usually true, though high sales help them in other ways.

A studio is more likely to get chosen for an adaptation if they've made hits before. Publishers as well would be more convinced to order more seasons of a show if the studio that animated it boosted the sales of the source material. And that means more work for the studio, which means more money, which means the studio won't be swimming in debt trying to stay afloat, which means it won't end up like Manglobe.

Figmas are literally for poorfags that dont have enough money to spend money on actual figurines

They get more than they would if it was just /a/utists watching anime, in which case it'd be the square root of fuck all.
