Nevermind. Hook your laptop to a chink 720p monitor and stick to that.

Basic 768p laptop.

It works just fine, since everything is generally 720p. Anime isn't in 1080p or better usually, the only copies you find for that are generally upscaled, either by the company or the subgroup's lackeys.

I use to hook my laptop up to my TV and watch it that way, but my laptop lags with 10bit video. Since I only used it for anime, I bought a Galaxy Tab S2 for the sole purpose of watching anime and reading manga in bed. I know people like to shit all over tablets, but the screen is amazing and I couldn't be happier.

I was so close to acquiring the widescreen XS 955N super fine tube 1440x1080i (basically a XBR 960 sans antiglare coating, video processing and subwoofer) for 100 bux last Thanksgiving on craigslist. It's too bad I can't fit it in my car and no one was there to help me carry this 300 pound beast.

The only thing about big screen TVs is that they really highlight any jitter in your video playback. I've got a 42" connected to a pretty good computer/graphics card and I keep all my software up to date, but I still get jitter when the video is panning. Also, keep in mind that 1080p is most likely going to be your max resolution, regardless of the size (actually, I'm not sure how common 4k screens are yet), but the idea of a larger screen is just to watch from farther away, not to make the video look clearer. It will look worse up close.
